Chapter 2 - I'm not leaving with you

She doesn't remember anything. Those words kept playing in Ming Si's mind. If she wasn't going to remember anything, what would he do with her.

He recalled the events that had led to her current situation. He had been too powerless to save her. He shouldn't have done that to her. It was all his fault. How was he supposed to face her now.

He remembered the first time he saw her, her fragility was scary. She had pure white skin and tears in her eyes. She was by far the most dazzling sight he had ever seen. She just stood there in her white wedding dress. Even though the veil covered her face he saw her tears.

She didn't want to get married. So he refused her that day at the altar. He didn't intend for things to go the way they did.

It was his fault she was her like this. He couldn't deal with his guilt. When the doctor told him she couldn't remember anything he knew he had taken away everything she held dear to her.

She had forgotten all of it. The only reason she wanted to live, she had forgotten it.

He leaned on the wall and brushed his hair.

Maybe it wasn't all that bad. Maybe this was a blessing. She could start all over again and forget everything. She wouldn't remember her sadness as well as her happiness. He could right his wrong. He could take her and run away. He'll protect her till the end of time.

His thoughts gave him a new found strength to face her. He moved swiftly but gracefully.

He was charming with his Black hair and his tall figure. His face looked like he was the sole winner of the genetic lottery for 5 years in a row. He had the type of physique that will make you think God was in a good mood when he formed him. His jeans looked like they were tailor made for him. And even if he was dressed really casually, he still looked like a supermodel.

He reached her room and opened the door. As he stepped in he was met with the beautiful scene in front of him.

Sun Zu's long red hair was scattered and some of it covered part of her face. Her sleeping posture was a disaster. But from the part of her face that wasn't covered you could tell she was a real beauty. Her frail structure could make anyone think she would break if she tried to walk.

He walked across the room and went to her bed side. He perched on the bed, making sure not to disturb her. He lightly brushed aside the mass of silky red hair covering her face. And formed her pink lips into a perfect pout. But she didn't open her eyes. So he just sat there studying her features. Her long lashes made her eyes really pretty. He raised his hand and felt her soft silky white face. She was beautiful. And while it was weird, he couldn't help but think she looked really pretty even when she cried. Then it hit him, he hadn't really seen her smile before, not even a fake smile. And this fact filled him with sadness and he looked away from her.

He stood up and headed for the doctors office.

When he got there, he opened the door without knocking which startled the doctor.

"Excuse me sir" the doctor said looking puzzled.

"I'm.. sorry" he hesitated.

"It's not a problem. Aha, I needed to talk to you about Sun's condition. Please take a seat" the doctor said signalling at the chair at the opposite end of his desk.

Ming Si walked over and took a seat.

"May I ask what relationship you share with Miss Sun?" the doctor asked him.

"Um, I already gave that information at the desk when she was admitted. I'm her... step brother. She has no other family besides me" he said nervous as hell.

The doctor gave him a look that made him uncomfortable before deciding to agree the guy's claim. "How did she fall?" he asked.

"Staircase. She fell from the staircase." he answered.

"Do you know what made her fall from the stairs?"

"Are these questions necessary? It doesn't matter if she tripped, jumped or was pushed, she fell and I just want to make sure that besides the memory loss there are no other issues" Ming Si was caving from the guilt and he was beginning to feel suffocated.

"I'm sorry sir. I didn't mean to upset you. I just need to know her living conditions. I need to know if I should be concerned for her safety."

This seemed to enrage Ming, because his eyes burned with fury and he clamped his teeth almost snarling at the doctor.

"I will protect her myself. And if there's nothing more go be known about her current situation, we'll leave now." He said rising to his feet and he left the office.

He walked to Sun Zu's room and when he entered he saw her rubbing her eyes.

She was waking up. That was good at least now they could leave.

"Wake up, we're leaving"

"What? Where are we going?" Sun asked puzzled.

"This isn't the time for this we need to go" he said dropping her clothes on the bed and reaching for her hand.

She smacked his hand off her. "I'm not leaving with you" she said staring daggers at him.

This shocked him deeply. Could she have remembered?

"What do you mean by that?" he said both shocked and angry.

"I mean exactly what you heard. I'm not leaving with you. And who do you think you are to touch me" she said almost shouting. She was visibly angry.

He knew getting angry will do him no good so he decided to calm down and talk to her gently.

"Why won't you leave with me?" he asked raising one perfect brow.

Sun narrowed her eyes at him before shaking her head.

"Do you know me?" she asked pointing at herself and this confused Ming. What sort of question was that? Will he be here if he didn't know her.

"Yes. I know you" he replied

"Well, I don't know you" she snapped

This caused Ming to let out a sigh of relief. She didn't remember anything.
