Ever since the hero had arrived in this place, he had gone up against many foes that were considered by the people to be monsters that the soilders would be afraid to face, even if they vastly out numbered them. So he was quite confident in his abilities, and even before he had come to this kingdom he had been considered the most popular person around. He had done everything that he set his mind to and had grown board with the mundane nature of life, and now he was in a place that had new challenges and situations that he had never experienced before. But by far the best thing about the situation was his abundance of power that he had gained upon arrival, and how becouse of it he could do what ever he wanted without fear of punishment. Finally he could drop the nice guy act that he had been forced to put on every day of his old life, now he was who he was truly ment to be.
They say that absolute power corrupts absolutely, but in the hero's eyes power only brought out the person's true self, and unshackled them from the chains of what others found to be acceptable. After all what happens to a weak person, who possesses no backing, and is arrogant? They are thrown out, but a person who has power can be as arrogant as they want, meaning that those with power were those who had gained the right to show their true colors.
Since he had come to this place he had learned about magic power, and more importantly how to tell someone's over all amount. The strange person in front of him had almost nothing to speak of in terms of magic ability, which made him smirk, he had found that one of his favorite things to do in recent times was to destroy people in a way that left them completely dumbfounded about their loss.
He poised his sword and was about to swing when suddenly he noticed that the weight of the weapon in his hand had vanished, he looked up at his hand and was shocked to find that his hand was empty. He looked around completely confused and then his head turned to the person who he had been about to strike and his eyes went wide. The person was holding the giant sword in his hand nonchalantly inspecting its quality with a look of slight annoyance.
"You seem to have some fairly bad habits there."
He gently flipped the sword in the air catching the end of the blade lightly between his fingers.
"I don't think that I need to tell you this since you seem like an intelligent person, but you should be careful about waving knives around like this. After all we wouldn't want anyone to get injured, now would we?"
He smiled and held the blade out to the hero, who took the handle quickly. But when he tried to pull the weapon away from the person it wouldn't budge. He looked up at the person in front of him and his blood ran cold. His face had a large smile plastered over it, but his eyes were completely serious.
"One more thing that you might want to keep in mind. When you are dealing with people that you know nothing about it's usually a good idea to not antagonize them pointlessly."
He released the edge of the blade which made the hero lose his balance since he had not stopped pulling on the blade. Before he knew it the hero was sitting on the ground looking up at the strange smiling person in front of him and stayed frozen on the ground not daring to move an inch. The person turned back toward the door, but before he left he turned back to the throne.
"I hope the meeting goes well, remember I really do need to speak with you, your highness, I hope that you won't disappoint me."
After the hero had entered the room the soilder had dragged the General out of the small area and the two of them had watched the rest of the conversation from beyond the entrance. The soilder was quite concerned about the General who seemed to be frozen in fear, and unable to fully process what was going on. The soilder had watched the encounter between the hero and Gordan with open mouth surprise. Though thinking about it he did kill that giant ant in a completely nonchalant way from what he could remember but to deal with the hero in such an uninterested manner, the soilder could only think of the situation like a small child that had been caught playing with knives and them being scolded by an adult. It was completely ludicrous. When Gordan walked out of the room he gently closed the door behind him and walked over to the soilder.
"What's wrong with him?"
He pointed toward the General who was leaning against the soilder with an empty expression on his face. The soilder shrugged his shoulders and began walking away.
"I don't really know, but we should probably talk about this when we get to an empty room don't you think?"
Gordan smiled, and it seemed to the soilder that it was back to his ordinary smile. The one that he had used with the hero had been completely pityless and quite threatening. He was happy that Gordan was not that way around him or else he would probably have been dead a long time ago.
He led Gordan through the castle to a small waiting room that was customized specifically for people of the upper class to wait for the king to hear their troubles. It was a very luxurious room with several couches and chairs as well as a fancy tea set and a spectacular veiw of the gardens.
Gordan helped the soilder sit the General down on one of the couches and quickly made some tea for the three of them, and passed the cups out on the table for the other two.
He sat down and calmly drank his tea while casually looking out over the gardens. The soilder sat down and was constantly glancing at the General with a worried expression.
Gordan who was only drinking the tea for show swallowed back the ashes that were in his mouth, he was more drinking the tea for the aroma than anything else, in an attempt to calm down around the one that was now called General. After a bit he looked at the soilder and sighed, it seemed that the General might have changed slightly from when he last saw him. It seemed at least that he had earned the respect of the soilder so he felt it wrong to let the General stay this way, if only for the sake of the soilder who was at this time in quite a bit of trouble with the king.
He gently set down the empty cup on the table which made the General flinch in fear.
=Sigh=
Gordan didn't think that the person that he had met all those years ago would ever be in this state just by seeing him. Though he had gone a bit overboard that time, so who knew?
"Comander Front, don't you think that it's a bit rude to not drink your tea?"
The General flinched again remembering the time when he had gone by that name. But the reminder did snap him out of his shock, and he looked around around at the familiar room that they were currently in. Once he had done this he quietly picked up the cup of tea and slowly took a sip, while watching Gordan carefully. To think that somthing like this would come out of his rather dark past, back then he had been just another idiot that didn't understand the devastation of war. That point had been a definite turning point in his life, after all of that had happened he had changed from an arrogant brat into a leader. But now that his past was sitting before him he couldn't help but feel suffocated by the pressure.
Gordan looked over at the General who was shaking like a leaf just from being in the same room as him.
=Sigh=
Gordan had poured himself another cup of tea and finished it off even with the taste of ash cought in his throat he needed to remain calm. After all these years someone that he had every right to take revenge on was right in front of him. He glanced over at the soilder who looked both worried and confused about the situation, and he made a decision. Turning back to the General he looked at him dead in the eyes.
"For the sake of the current situation I am willing to temporarily forget about the past."
It was hard to even say the words out loud, and the statement seemed to baffle the General. He just sat there without moving with a dumbfounded look on his face, and then he dropped his head down in a gesture of gratitude.
"Thank you for that, believe me I will gladly accept the gift that you have given to me."
Gordan took a deep breath and held out his hand to the General.
"Fine then, I look forward to working with you."
The General accepted the handshake and looked carefully at Gordans face. It was quite obvious to the general that this was not something that Gordan wanted to do, he was also aware that he was only getting one chance and he needed to prove that he had changed.
