The soilder finished drinking his tea, watching both Gordan and the General closely. It was obvious that there was some major bad blood between the two of them, and he wondered what could have gone so badly. After Gordan had said that he would temporarily forget about what ever it was the General seemed to calm down quite a bit. From an observational point of veiw, the scene just seemed to odd to make sense.
"Well then, I think that the two of you should start talking then, since the soilder next to you is the one who actually knows what's going on."
Gordan smiled calmly enough, but the soilder had the feeling that he was quite tense in this situation. He stood up and walked over to the balcony leaning out to observe the surroundings in order to give the two a bit of space.
Gordan could tell that if he had not gone through with temporarily forgetting the offense, then the conversation would be majorly handicapped and nothing would get finished. That being said, that didn't mean that he had to be part of the discussion more than was necessary, after all, after he finished with the king he would be going to deal with another problem that had presented itself nearby.
The soilder turned to the General and began to explain the details of the current situation with the hero and kings reckless behaviour, all the time the General sat there not saying a word and nodding his head at the appropriate times. He had relaxed quite a bit now that he knew that Gordan wouldn't be taking emidiat actions against him and that he didn't have to worry about getting killed at any second. He knew what he had done could not be overlooked but at least he had a chance.
The tone of the conversation gradually became quite dark as the soilder told of all of the things that had transpired in the time that he was gone. The two of them were so absorbed that they didn't even notice when Gordan silently jumped out the window and landed softly on the grass below without even disturbing a single insect. He stood up and stretched his arms, before he had jumped he had used a bit of his blood to make a series of strokes underneath the terrace rail. It was a simple spell that gave him the ability to know everything that was said within a certain radius. The nice thing about this spell was that it was also only limited to the amount of blood in his body, which made things quite convenient. He found that this condition was quite common among spells that were used for stealth. Looking around to make sure that the coast was clear he walked to one of the outer windows and quietly slipped through. He pulled the fir once more out of the bag and draped it over his shoulders, it was slightly cold but it gave him a strange feeling of comfort. Since he knew that the General was most likely the only person in the area that would be able to see through the fir's cloaking spell it was the obvious choice for his intention.
Room after room, and hall after hall, Gordan quickly and carefully walked through the deserted castle until he finally found a staircase that lead down. As he began his slow descent down the many flights of steps he started to come across a large amount of guards. In fact every floor he went lower the number of guards increased. Gordan didn't wonder for a moment why such a thing was happening, he just walked past them completely undetected until he came across the lowest floor. This floor was different from the others, for one it was devoid of any humans, and secondly, it was incredibly hot. So hot that it reminded Gordan of the desert part of the forest. He could feel his skin starting to blister just from being on the floor for less than a minute. He ignored the feeling of his skin and instead walked slowly toward the only cell on the entire floor.
The closer he got the the cell ,which was located at the end of a long hall, the more blistering the heat grew until he could feel the temperature of his blood being to rise.
=Sigh=
"What ever they are keeping, they really don't want to escape."
Gordan muttered a bit annoyed at the crazy amount of heat. It was plain to see that he would be unable to continue without taking slightly extreme measures, but just before he could cast a spell of cooling the blue core flew out of his bag and hovered in the air next to him emitting a cold blue light that gradually reduced the temperature of the area around Gordan.
Gordan smiled and began to walk forward once more, eventually the sides of the hall were lined with small red cores that were glowlying brightly. He could see that the farther down the line he got the larger the cores became, he sighed and continued to walk down the extremely long hall. After another ten minutes he finally reached the door, by this point even with the help of the core, the heat was extremely intense, and the cores which had originally been as small as a blueberry were now the size of watermelons. They were securely placed into the wall so that even if one could withstand the heat they would be extremely difficult to pull out. An operation like this would take quite a bit to keep operational which made Gordan quite curious as to what was on the other side of the door, but instead of going straight in he held his hand over the handle and dropped a bit of blood onto it, as soon as the blood hit the handle it instantly froze solid.
Gordan smiled and dropped some more blood on the handle until it was completely covered, and then gently grabbed it in between two of his fingers and quickly pulled the door open. By the time he pulled his fingers away they had already started to freeze over, Ignoring the pain he noticed that a small funnel of air had started to form as soon as he had opened the door. Upon looking inside he could see why, the entirety of the room was covered in ice and was bitter cold, to the point that it burned. The core was providing a small amount of protection but it was still cold enough to start freezing the sweat on Gordans skin instantly. As he stepped into the room the door behind him closed with a bang which shook some of the ice lose in the room which fell to the floor and pierced the stone floor. Before continuing any further Gordan tried to use some of his blood to help with the cold but it instantly froze after leaving his skin.
"Sorry but that won't really work in here I'm afraid."
Gordan felt a slight breeze which instantly made the tempiture around him warm to a tolerable degree. He looked toward the back of the room and saw a creature sitting on a bench made of ice. The figure had its head down and a humongous scythe made of a blue material which resembled ice lay next to him ready to be used at a moments notice. The figur was quite large and also had a rather icy look to him, Gordan noticed that the creatures arms were covered in runes which resembled ancient curses.
The creature lifted up its head as Gordan drew closer, and he saw that its eyes glowed with an eerie blue. The creature snapped its fingers and small blue flames appeared in the room, and a seat similar to it's own formed next to Gordan.
"I have to say I didn't expect you to come so quickly. Take a seat, I would like to speak with you, human."
The creatures icy voice seemed to echo in the small room. As Gorsan sat down the core fell lifelessly back into his hands. The creature looked carefully at Gordan and then smiled slowly.
"You seem to be rather strange, human. There aren't many like you in recent years."
Gordan smiled in return and gave a small bow to the creature.
"It's Gordan, and a pleasure to meet you."
The creature leaned back in its chair and let out a laugh which made the walls of the room quake.
"Its been some time since I've heard a greeting of that type, you are a rather strange fellow, aren't you Gordan?"
His face suddenly grew serious and he looked at Gordan in the eyes.
"Well I guess we had better get to business, after all I don't want to take you way from your own problems.
Gordan smiled at the creature and nodded his head slightly.
"I wouldn't say that this is to much out of my way, but would you mind telling me exactly what in the world is going on here?"
