The creature smiled at Gordan and opened up the palm of his hand to reveal a small needle which he handed to Gordan gently.
"You were given the king's favor, so I believe that you are one that can be trusted with this."
Gordan looked at the small needle which was made out of a strange glowing material that Gordan had never encountered in his life, even in a book. This kind of thing interested him greatly, but he moved his focus away from the small object and back to the creature.
"What do you want me to do with this item exactly."
The creature turned its head to the side.
"If you must know, I won't be here for much longer. The heat has started to seep into my bones and every year that I am away from the hunt I grow weaker. When my time comes I have no intention of them obtaining that item which I have given to you."
Gordans expression darkened quite a bit and he looked at the creature in front of him.
"You've been here for quite some time, haven't you?"
The creature smiled coldly, and looked around the ice cold room that they were in.
"This, room has been my prison for one hundred years in total."
He said it like it was just an ordinary fact that he had come to grips with long ago. Gordans frown deepened at this, for the royal family to have somthing like this in their dungeon for such a long time ment that they were using him for somthing. Thinking about it from that angle an idea suddenly came to him, he looked around the room and noticed that the ice actually had a pattern to it. Gordan stood up and walked over to one of the walls running his hand over the surface. As he did he felt indentations that formed a spell, the same spell that was ingraved into the creatures arms.
"Frozen Tomb"
The creature jerked back in surprise at the statement, and his smile broadened even further than it had previously. The creature cracked its bones and slowly stood up from its seat. The entire ground shook slightly, as the creature moved from its resting place of one hundred years. He walked over next to Gordan and ran his own hand across the wall.
"You seem to know much. The Frozen Tomb is not somthing that is commonly used by the Winter March, all those who have seen it in the past are long dead."
The creature stopped his hand over one particular rune and turned its head toward Gordan who was still studying the pattern.
"So how did you come to know of our secret knowledge?"
Gordan turned to the creature which seemed to be quite curious about where he had learned of the spell.
"I read about it once, in the journal of the blood knight. I happened upon it by chance some years ago while traveling."
The creature frowned, and for a few moments said nothing, but then it spoke.
"Was it dead? The Blood Knight that is."
Gordan still didn't look up from the patterns on the walls.
"No, it is still very much alive, and still as violent as ever."
The creature nodded and smiled once more, if that creature had fallen it would be a sad thing indeed.
Gordan looked over the runes, and couldn't help smiling internally, reading about somthing in a book was all well and good, but seeing somthing like this in person was like a dream come true.
The Frozen Tomb was a high tier spell that would be almost impossible to cast unless there was a large amount of high level mages, and even then they couldn't use it for all that long. The spell turned a small area into an icy tomb, but the thing about the spell which was so special was, as long as the spell was active the one who had control of the spell could control anything that was in that space. Gordan had witnessed this mostly by the change in temperature around him earlier as well as when the creature made the seat.
For the creature to have been able to control the spell for as long as he had was quite insane. Gordan could see why he was acting the way he was though, the winter March didn't do all that well when it came to extremely hot temperatures, in fact it could be quite devastating for them.
Thinking about it, the Winter March truly was an amazing bunch. They got around their weaknesses with their over powering strengths. The larger the group the stronger the power, and the closer they came into contact with magic which was used against them the weaker the magic became, add that to the fact that if those with the magic affinity came close enough they would fall unconscious, it made them truly terrifying to deal with.
Gordan couldn't help but wonder how humans had been able to contain him in such a way.
=Sigh=
"I just wish I could have seen my king once more, that is my greatest regret."
The creature gripped his hand into a fist, his voice was sad but his expression was that of acceptance.
"Why are you here to begin with, if you don't mind me asking?"
the creature looked over at Gordan and then went back over to his seat Sitting down once more. Gordan walked back over and sat down once again waiting for the creature's response.
"I don't see why not, after all I have already given you the item that I intended to and I have no reason for not explaining to you.
One hundred years ago today the Winter March was traveling through the area. The current king at that time was quite the greedy individual and thought that if he was able to somehow obtain the king he could control the Winter March. In that time he had the assistance of a rather strange individual who summoned a great hero to assist the king in return for somthing that the person had been helped with previously.
The battle was an absolute massacre for our part, they were so underprepared that it was almost sad, but as it turned out this was all part of the kings plot. Once we were close to the capital they brought out the hero who had a very particularly annoying skill which he attempted to use on the king. In order to protect the king I got between him and the spell, which turned out to be a spell of possession. At the same time that the hero finished the possession I ran him through destroying his body. After that the fighting continued and I was unaware that the hero had gone through with the possession until a group of soilders retreated and the Winter March gave chase becouse several of the pure blood descendants were among the group. When I tried to fallow the hero took control of my body and returned to the castle were this place had been prepared for the king.
After a while I started to feel the connection weaken but by that time I was already in the cell. The human king was there as well, he planned to get at least something out of the situation. But when I gained back control all of their plans were shattered and the kings brother activated the orbs on the walls outside forcing me to activate the Frozen Tomb. Since I was unable to escape from the area I was forced to stay in this place, and I've been here ever since then."
Gordan sat quietly listening to the entire story, paying close attention to the creature as it spoke. Other than when he was talking about the Winter March, the creature acted as though he were reciting a story which was not his own. He sat there after the creature had finished for a while thinking.
"So what exactly is this thing that you don't want them to get a hold of?"
Gordan held up the the needle to indicate what he was talking about. The creature nodded its head slowly.
"It is my most precious possession in the world. My share of the king's soul. I would rather a human that has the favor of the king have it, than leave the possibility that one of those people would get a hold of it. I am aware that a new hero has been summoned and that the are going to try and use him to deal with me, it's only a matter of how long."
Gordan looked down at the small needle that he was holding in his hand with new interest. After a minute he lifted up the needle and stabbed it into his finger until it was completely covered in black blood, and then removed the needle. He waited for the needle to dry and then handed it back to the creature emediatly recognized the spell which was used and accepted the needle gratefully.
"You shouldn't give somthing this important to someone until it is absolutely necessary."
Gordan flinched as his skin began to crack open from the place were he had stabbed the needle. Before it spread too far however the creature snapped its fingers and instantly the skin healed back over.
"You really are an interesting person aren't you? Are all humans as strange as you these days?"
Gordan flexed his arm and smiled at the creature.
"I hope not. Anyway, thanks for that."
The creature laughed and stabbed the needle back into his heart which instantly healed around the injury.
"Thank you, you have no idea how painful it is to be separated from the shard."
Gordan suddenly flinched and stood up quickly. The spell that he had activated in the waiting room was starting to wear off which ment that Gordan needed to get back quickly. He looked at the creature with an apologetic ecpression.
"Unfortunately it would seem that I have to cut our conversation short, somthing has come up."
The creature smiled and waved his hand which made the core reactive.
"Well then take this with you, it can at least help with the heat out there. Good luck Gordan it was a pleasure to meet you."
Gordan smiled and was walking toward the door when the creature appeared in front of him and carefully opened the door. He extended his hand to Gordan and smiled.
"Of all of the humans that I've delt with since becoming this, I have enjoyed your company the most. My name is Orion, and I hope that we can meet again."
Gordan gladly accept the handshake and smiled in return.
"The pleasure has been all mine. See you soon."
Gordan walked put of the room and the creature closed the door behind him.
