As the king finished reading the pages he looked up at Gordan who was smiling at him with an odd expression which reminded the king of a predator that was getting ready to kill its prey. He handed the pages over to the hero who quickly read them. The king ignored Gordans suspicious expression since it really didn't matter what he tried to do, the soilders that were guarding the room right now were the elite of the elite, and now that the heros dominate arm was fully healed there would be nothing that the person before him could do.
Gordan checked himself realizing that his face was showing bit to much of his desire to smash the foolish kings head in, he also felt a chill at his back and realised that the core was reacting to the presence of both a hero and a decendent, Gordan had no choice but to ignore the slight discomfort for the time being since it would be quite annoying if they figured out his plan to quickly.
The king watched him carefully quite content that he didn't seem to know about the fact that he was completely surrounded, in truth it had been the hero's idea to form this trap and the king thought that it was ingenious.
"So what is your plan of action?"
Gordans sudden words made the king rather uncomfortable, the threat of a class D was nothing to scoff at, but he didn't necessarily have to deal with the problem himself. Yes the capital was close to the village, but it would be easy enough to divert the beast from the capital. After all what did one small village really matter, he already had an idea how to deal with the situation. He smiled in a way that looked exactly like a snake.
"Well... This would be quite a problem... That is if the information wasn't fake."
He king made his accusation quite clear, as he pointed his finger toward Gordan like he was a criminal on trial. A small vein bulged in Gordans temple but he continued to smile politely.
"And what... Exactly do you mean by that your highness?"
The General and Drake both took a step away from Gordan, while the king couldn't see it from his throne the two of them could tell that Gordan was most angry. The king however seemed to be on a role, he continued to point at Gordan and continued his accusations.
"After all you are traveling with a known felon, how in the world could I take you at your word? The odds are this is nothing more than a trap that you have devised in order to weaken our military strength. Try and deny it!"
The General had gone completely white, he didn't dare to look over at Gordan, he could feel the fury welling up next to him. He wanted desperately to warn his nephew to stop talking right now, if he didn't then there was absolutely nothing that he could do to save him.
Gordan didn't like politics, he never had liked politics. He also hated it when he and his comrades were accused for bogus charges that they had nothing to do with. But he still kept his cool, he really had no desire to deal with the beast personally since he was still recovering from his various injuries. In fact he could still feel some of the damage from the execution even with the treatment he had received, and that wasn't including any of the damage that he had received after that point. He was at this point already quite finished with the entire kingdom especially after meeting with Orion, but that was exactly why he needed to remain calm and not act rashly. After all he was dealing with a mear child on the throne, of course he would have to put up with some trouble. He swallowed his growing anger and continued to smile.
"And on what treason do you accuse this person of committing?"
The tone of his voice was so calm that it made the king lose his smile and look carefully at the person infront of him. There was absolutely no sign of anger in him, but that didn't make sense, he could tell from their earlier conversation that this person didn't seem to like being insulted, so the logical choice would be to question his integrity. But he seemed to be more concerned about the integrity of the soilder who was standing next to him. The king smiled thinking that he had found the best way to make the person lash out, and when he did they would have all of the insensitive they would need to attack while keeping the hero blissfully unaware of the kings avoidance for somthing that would be quite troublesome to deal with. He was about to speak when suddenly the hero spoke up instead.
"It would be easy enough to deal with this, all we have to do is send someone to confirm the situation, and if it turns out to be true we can send half of the men there in a couple of days right?"
Gordan let out a small sigh that couldn't be heard by anyone else in the room. The hero was looking around like he had just come up with the solution to all of the problems of the universe. Gordan could see that rather than being stupid the hero was being spiteful toward him. Gordan kept completely still, he really didn't like it when people played dumb on purpose. He ignored the statement of the hero and kept his eyes on the king.
"Again, what exactly did this person do that you are so suspicious of him?"
Drake wanted to stop Gordan from asking about it, but somthing told him that doing so would result in Gordans glass like composure to shatter and reveal something that Drake wouldn't want to see as a foe or as a ally. So instead he just stood there watching Gordan carefully.
"Yes, I am also quite curious as to what this soilder has done wrong."
The General had finally worked up the courage to speak, since he could tell that once a person started to insult someone that Gordan viewed as a comrade things would go south faster than a bolt of lightning. But maybe even Gordan could have changed after so many years. Looking at Gordan however that was not a risk that the General felt like taking.
Gordan took a shallow breath and reigned in his anger again. He was grateful to the General for intervening in the situation as he was just about to go over the edge, despite his own desire to stay calm. He would calm down enough so that he could get out of here without a problem.
The king smirked and looked at his newly returned uncle, he had once feared. But now that the hero had healed, and had gained his ultimate power, he no longer had any fear of the mighty warrior. He no longer had anything to fear, after all soon enough he would have one of the Winter March under his control, and then he would be truly invincible.
"Uncle, you speak out of turn, I have spoken. I am the law and that is all there is to it, or do you wish to be counted as a traitor as well, Magicless failure? Guards execute the traitors!"
The General looked at him in confusion, Drake had told him that the king was acting off, but he didn't think that it had gotten this bad. He was so stunned that he didn't even notice All of the people come out of hiding and open fire on the group.
Gordan just stood there as the arrows hissed around him, he really had to wonder if this idiot had brain damage. Gordan flew into action emidiatly, and ran forward to the closest soilder quickly dispatching him with a quick snap of the neck, after that he systematically began to kill all of the soilders without a hint of any emotion. Suddenly he heard the sound of a spear flying through the air toward his back with insane speed, he was prepared to take the hit since somthing like that wouldn't kill him and he had no time to dodge it since it seemed to be coated in some type of magic anyway. He braced himself for the impact, but instead of hitting him he felt nothing. He turned around to see that Drake had gotten between him and the projectile and taken a direct hit. Drake began to fall down and Gordan caught him gently, the spear was loged into his left shoulder but thankfully it wasn't deep enough to kill him right away. Gordan cast a small heal on the injury and then turned his attention toward the throne where the hero realing back to shoot another spear toward them. The king next to him was smiling mockingly toward Gordan. Gordan gently lowered Drake to the ground and nonchalantly grabbed the spear out of the air before it could reach the two them. The General made his way over to the two after he had seen Drake go down, when he arrived he saw that the wound didn't seem to be life threatening, but still Gordan seemed to be quite angry because the spear in his hand turned was instantly shattered by his grip.
"It's fine I can look after him, you just do what you have to do."
The General was well aware that his nephew had now crossed a line that he would never come back from, and there was nothing he could do to stop the inevitable outcome of this encounter. All he could do now was make sure that he kept Drake safe from further harm.
"Look at that the traitor tried to save the brute, and now he is dead, isn't that hilarious?"
And with that Gordan Turned toward the king and disappeared. No one seemed to notice this, but then a slight tremor to fill the room knocking many of the soilders off of their feet, and a cold chill passed though the room that made everyone stop what they were doing and cower in fear. The whole room waited in complete silence for somthing to happen, and then suddenly Gordan appeared infront of the king, only now his painted mask was nowhere to be seen, and a cold smile was spread across his face.
