Chapter 22 - Let's Just Talk

=Sigh=

"I did try to warn you about my face. Odd isn't it?"

Gordan was still crouched down next to Jean and was holding his head in his hands, looking almost concerned.

"Anyway are you okay?"

Jean was cautious about Gordan now that he had seen his face, but at Gordans concern he felt a stab of pain, he was a person who naturally trusted others but he had also been hurt by many people in the past which is why he knew that he needed to be wary of Gordan, but it still hurt to have to mistrust him. Still he saw that his initial judgment to not trust Gordan to the point of not questioning what he had just done was rather foolish.

"What did you do just now with the water?"

He took the leap to ask the question waiting for an immediate rejection to his question, since usually that was how people treated him.

Gordan didn't see a reason not to tell him since who knew? It might help him get out of his own mind from however he had been trapped there in the first place, not that he saw a way that it could.

"I assumed since this place is rather like a dream that I could have some control over it, unfortunately it seems that it's not as simple as it sounds like it would be."

=Sigh=

Gordan rubbed the back of his neck and held out his other hand to help Jean up from the ground.

Jean hesitantly reached out his hand to Gordans outstretched hand. Gordan pulled him up like he was a feather. Jean knew that he did have a fair point about warning him but could he really trust him? He couldn't yet tell.

"Sorry about that, it was rude of me to collapse just by seeing your face but I didnt expect it to be so terrifying... Sorry I didn't mean that."

Gordan held up his hand to stop the apology shaking his head.

"Don't worry about it, that's how most people respond when they see me smile, at least you didn't scream, it always gets more uncomfortable when people scream and then fall unconscious. People always assume that you did something wrong or something..."

Jean blinked for a couple seconds.

"Wait, that was a smile?"

Gordan who had been spiraling into his own thoughts turned his attention back to Jean and then realized that most people wouldn't have been able to register that he was smiling since they would always collapse so quickly.

"Yup, like I said weird right?"

Gordan walked back over to his seat and sat down like nothing had happened in the first place. Seeing this Jean desided to fallow suit since there was no reason to provoke him to fighting.

Gordan quietly observed Jean's actions. He knew well that showing him his face had put him on guard and that it might be alittle bit harder to gain the information that he wanted but now this person had regained something that had been taken from them, their common sense. Ever since Gordan had arrived at this place Jean had acted like a person who wasn't really there. And for some reason that made Gordan remember someone that he used to know.

Gordan could feel the corners of his mouth going up again and frowned, his emotions really were getting a bit out of control. He turned his attention back to Jean who looked alittle bit uncomfortable. Gordan wanting to change the situation a bit after his deviation from his initial purpose spoke once again.

"So how long have you been in this place if I might ask?"

Jean thought about it for a minute since he really didn't know how to respond. He had no idea how time worked in here so he had been judging the time based on his sleep cycle, but he wasn't really sure if that was up to par as far as accurate time keeping.

"As far as I can tell I've been here for about twenty years, but I'm not sure how long it's been in the real world."

Gordan was rather shocked, mostly by the fact that in all of those twenty years Jean had never thought to experiment the idea of this place being a dream, which was alittle disappointing to Gordan, but he supposed that not everyone had a drive to find out these things, but still twenty years?

=sigh=

"Well that's depressing."

He just seemed rather nonchalant about the whole thing which made Jean curious, he had also taken what Gordan had said into consideration, the idea that this place was akin to a dream. In all of the time that he had been here he hadn't thought of that, it was odd since it actually made a lot of sense.

"So what happened that you got put in here in the first place?"

Gordan saw that he was getting interested in the train of conversation so he desided that he should try to ask about the person rather than other things at the moment.

As soon as Gordan asked the question Jean froze up remembering that terrible situation like it was yesterday, he didnt know if he should talk about it with Gordan, but already he was forgetting to keep his guard up. It was a bad habit that he had always had since childhood. He had a hard time not trusting people, which is what had gotten him in this situation in the first place.

"Well its a bit of a long story and a bit boring.."

Gordan raised on of his arms slightly indicating there surroundings.

"Well it's not like we don't have time right?"

He kept a sullen face as he said it but Jean was touched, in his life he had been used and abused by almost everyone around him, when he met people that were actually willing to listen to what he had to say he trusted them.

Gordan noticed the sudden change in Jean's expression, before Gordan had asked to hear Jean had been visibly restrained but after such a trivial answer he had totally dropped his guard. Gordan guessed the reason behind his reservation, but now he could confirm what had actually happened to this person.

Jean looked excited and Gordan took this opportunity to snap his fingers making a pot of tea appear in front of them as well as two cups. He didn't try to replicate the tea that he had last time, instead he chose a tea that he was quite familiar with, it was an herbal blend that was used to calm people down, in Gordans younger years he had been quite fond of it, and it had kept him from going crazy on more than one occasion.

"Here have some tea and then tell me the story

from the beginning, I hope the tea is to your liking."

Gordan carefully poured out two cups and then set down the pot once again. He took a sip to see how it turned out and was quite satisfied with the result. He had learned from his earlier attempt that the he had to be quite precise with each of the measurements if he wanted an accurate object to form.

Jean took a sip of the tea and instantly felt relaxed, like the pain of twenty years ago had just disappeared. He didn't remember what had made him so tense anymore everything just seemed to be fine. He looked up at Gordan who had also taken a sip of the tea and was slightly shaken at what he saw. Gordans pupils had dilated and he looked like he had lost consciousness but then he blinked and his eyes came back into focus. He didn't seem like anything had just happened but something about what Jean had just seen seemed alittle eerie. He shook his head and decided that he should start at the beginning of his problems, Prince Zulus Rose the second or as Jean referred to him, the brat with power.
