Gordan didn't really feel like going on some rather dangerous journey in order to go to a court. It hadn't been all that long since he had almost been executed by royalty, and even if he had been prepared to die it didn't make him overly fond of the idea of dealing with them this soon after the original issue.
He didn't really like nobles in general which was a bit ironic since he himself used to be one. He had mostly expected to go on the mission becouse he had no real desire to deal with the creature that the 'Master' was sending their way, and he wouldn't really feel right about abandoning the people who had helped him out to a degree. No matter what others had ever said about him being slightly unhinged and unreliable, he wasn't the type of person to just ignore when someone had helped him out.
He looked at Leech's mother who was still a bit shocked by him even considering the idea, Gordan couldn't help feeling that these people were a bit on the weird side. After all if anything even slightly unexpected happened they all fell to pieces and couldn't think strait for just about anything. It almost made Gordan wonder how they had been able to survive as long as they had on the outer reaches of the forest. It was the kind of place where you would die if you froze up for just about any amount of time.
=Sigh=
"So what are you going to do if the king doesn't see fit to assist you in this endeavor?"
Gordan watched her expression which turned slightly confused.
"Like I said before, if that happens then you no longer have any obligation to helping us."
Gordan raised an eyebrow, he could see how she might have confused what he was saying, infact it would be quite easy given how close the question was to his previous one but something seemed a bit off. Gordan looked down at the map which had key points highlighted, like the village and where he was supposed to go and then he relished why it sounded off. The village was nestled between a mountain range that crossed through the forest on both sides, they were called the death trap. They had earned this name becouse of a rather ancient civilization that had used them to corner and kill any and all enemies, slaughtering them like cattle, even though the pass between was rather broad it was easy to block off any and all exits. The mountains themselves were quite dangerous since while they weren't all that steep at first they made up for it in their level of danger. Just about anything in the place could kill you, and actually go out of it's way to do so. And while he hadn't delt with them personally he knew someone who had, and from what Gordan had learned from the person, it could get pretty nasty. It was rather obvious that the people of the town didn't have a shadow of a doubt as to weather or not the king would come to assist them.
"You have a lot of faith in the king don't you?"
Leech's mother nodded finaly since it was a topic that she was totally sure of.
Personally the idea of total trust in a governmental group like that made Gordan alittle sick. He had seen it so many times in the past, that look of pure faith in an idea, he had seen it even upon the faces of the fallen. He had walked through streets flowing with blood and seen that expression. Gordan wondered what that kind of conviction felt like, someone had tried to explain it to him once but he just couldn't ever get his head around it, the idea was just to irrational.
"So what other information did you get from that individual."
He knew that they were hiding something from him so he desided to take advantage of the fact that she had seemed to have snapped out of her trance in order to ask. So far they hadn't given him a reason to believe that they were trying to trick him but he had a feeling that something just didn't fit all that well.
Leech's mother averted her eyes to avoid Gordans stare, and he shrugged his shoulders. He was going to do the job anyway since he needed to get to a different location, the forest of four wasn't exactly a place that he wanted to spend the next five years of his life. He had decided to do a bit of traveling in that time since he hadn't ever been able to do so, well other than for wars and similar things. But he had never been actually able to see the world as it was supposed to be, and he thought that it might be a nice change of pace.
"Well I think that raps up the information, are you willing to deliver the message? If not I completely understand."
Gordan nodded his head slowly looking back at the map for one final time. Even if they were hiding information from him, he would still go through with it. And if the king had no intention of helping he would have to put off his traveling for a bit longer, but he had been wanting to travel for years, a few more days wouldn't be to big of a deal.
"Sure, I don't see why I can't after all I was planning to travel in that direction anyway, so it shouldn't be to far out of my way."
Gordan smiled at her, but it wasn't a happy smile and she could tell that. She didn't like the idea of withholding information from a person who was going out of their way to help the village but it had been the village chief's idea so she had to go through with it.
She handed Gordan the bag of supplies and the map which he graciously accepted.
"Well then I guess I had better be off. Give my regards to the kid, and remember to stay safe."
Waving his hand he then began walking away at an even pace. Leech's mother stood there for a minute before realizing something that she hadn't noticed since she had been thinking of other things, Gordan was no longer wearing bandages, in fact she had forgotten that he was injured in the first place. She felt like a complete failure as a doctor, no as a person, how could the village send an injured person on such a dangerous trip. She knew in her heart that the king would come to save them but still she felt uneasy for some reason. The only reason they had sent Gordan on the mission other than him being an outsider, was becouse he could take care of himself.
Gordan exited the town and didn't bother looking back, he had an idea of were he was supposed to go, looking down at the map, and estimated that it would take him about one and a half days to reach his destination if nothing got in his way. And that was if nothing got in his way, but he doubted that he would be that lucky.
Gordan sighed looking forward, he decided that it was in his best interest to avoid using magic for the time being which ment that he would have to rely on his own physical abilities, thankfully a small hunting knife had been put at the top of his bag so he would most likely have a bit easier of a time getting through the edge of the forest. Gordan made a small motion with one of his hands and then began on his journey.
