Chapter 33 - The Strange Man with Long Hair

Gordan had been traveling through the woods until he had come upon the ant which was still on the run. A smile spread across his face as he crept closer to the ant, once he was close enough he jumped onto the ants back and stabbed the knife into its head. Which made the ant begin to run like crazy, thankfully in the direction that he was headed in the first place so he let it rampage until he could see the tree line and then he twisted the knife in order to finish off the ant. The ant still had a bit of life in it though so it made a gigantic leap forward in hopes of escaping from the pain in its head. Gordan heard the ant land on someone but he ignored that, his attention was drawn to the person that was standing right next to the fallen ant looking a bit stunned. The person had extreamly lush hair which was somthing that Gordan didn't often see among the people that he usually dealt with, even the noble lady's hair looked plain in his memory compared to the persons hair. He mumbled somthing to himself about the ant reprimanding himself for not killing it more quickly.

He looked back at the person who was still staring at him In confusion.

"Sorry about that, did I interrupt somthing just now?"

Gordan looked around at the ground and saw the the corpses that were laying headless on the ground, and then realised that they were wearing the same impractical armor as the guards that he had met in the forest. Thinking about them he wondered what had happened to them for a moment and then shrugged his shoulders it didn't matter all that much anyway. Well it didn't matter other than the fact that they were from the kingdom he was on his way to meaning that somthing must really be wrong with their sense of safety and practicality when it came to armor. Meaning if they even happened to help ,which he rather doubted they would, they might not end up being all that much help in the first place. Gordans attention was temporarily shifted from the design of the soilders armor by the sound of a horse in distress, he looked up to see a white horse what was partially trapped under the ant.

Gordan slapped his head and sighed, he felt a pain in the back of his head and had the distinct premonition that the figure was attempting to take over again in order to save the horse.

"Fine I'll help the horse just stay quiet will you?"

Gordan walked around the corpse and saw what was the problem, it wasn't that the horse couldn't escape becouse it was being crushed, someone was gripping onto the reigns trying to pull themselves out from under the ant.

Not really wanting to pull the entire ant off of the person underneath Gordan calmly walked up to the horse and gently pulled off the bridle which was digging into the horses skin. Gordan noticed that all of the horses equipment was extremely tight, and he could see where the horse seemed to have been ridden in these conditions until its skin was raw. Gordan carefully pulled off the remainder of the equipment, and gently rubbed the horse to calm it. With the figure seemingly satisfied Gordan walked around to the other side of the ant and kicked the corpse over so that it would fully cover the person underneath the corpse. It was rather obvious from the armor on the person's arm matched the equipment on the horse, meaning that the idiot had almost caused him to lose control over his body again, over a single horse that wasn't in really all that much danger. And given that he still didn't have full control of his emotion, so getting crushed by a corpse was actually fairly mild compared to some of the things he had done in the past. Gordan was tempted to get on the ant and apply a bit more pressure to the person underneath for what he had done, but somthing caught his attention out of the corner of his eyes.

The person with the hair was standing almost completely still. The thing that had caught his attention was the sound and sight of the twin shards that the person had been holding fall to the ground. Gordan watched as the person fell to their knees next to the headless bodys, he slowly reached he hands out to the heads but stopped himself before touching them and slowly retracted his hand. Gordan felt slightly intrigued and sat down across from the person watching him closely to see what would happen.

The guard had lost everything, up until now he had somthing to keep him going. After the ant had come crashing through the treeline and he had seen the strange figure with bleeding eyes he had kind of blacked out, staring off into nothingness. After things started to settle in he slowly dropped his swords to the ground and fell to his knees. He reached out to the lifeless bodys but then pulled back, he couldn't fathom the fact that they were gone. His last connection to the world was dead in front of him, somthing about that seemed like a death sentence. He was unaware of any of the surroundings until he suddenly felt somthing brush against him. He looked up to see that the hero's horse had lay down next to him and was watching him intently. He reached up and stroked the animals fur.

"Friends of yours?"

Gordan's voice made the man jump and quickly turn toward him with a confused look on his face.

"Where did you come from?"

Gordan pointed over his shoulder at the ant which was currently taking up a large portion of the road that they were currently sitting on.

"Oh..."

The man seemed to kind of understand, but he was still looking at Gordan as though he were seeing a ghost, which Gordan couldn't blame him for since he did look quite similar to an undead in his current state. He smiled at the person who looked completely lost. And for some reason he had no desire to fight this person at the moment, infact he had the feeling that he should go out of his way to help this person out, but without self control he would take the idea of helping this person and go way overboard, he was hoping that the effects would disappear soon but he knew he had another couple of hours before then.

Gordan abruptly stood up and looked around at the surrounding area, he needed to leave before he lost time again, he had finally gotten back on scedual and he really didn't feel like messing that up again, thanks to his unbridled nature at this point it would most likely do more harm than good to stay around the person with the long hair. He started to walk forward but he couldn't, he was fairly sure that the person under the ant was the one who had slaughtered the persons comrades. Which ment that if he escaped from under the ant he would most likly finish off the person who was in no state to fight.

Gordan signed and turned on his heals to the person who was still sitting there motionless. Since he was wearing the kingdoms uniform Gordan didn't see the harm in taking him back there so that someone could look after him. He looked at the horse that was still laying next to the person, and it looked back at him. The horse slowly got to its feet and stood by Gordan who leaned over to see how the person was doing. He waved his hand in front of the persons face but he didn't get any response, even though the persons eyes were open it was clear that no one was at home.

=Sigh=

"I really stepped into it again didn't I?"

Gordan shook his head and picked up the man and gently laid him over one of his shoulders. The horse looked at him strangely as if wondering why he hadn't been the one to carry the burden. Gordan saw the horse and smiled, for some reason finding it necessary to explain his actions to a horse.

"You're injured, he's injured, I'm not about to make you carry anything more than necessary."

The horse seemed to understand what he was saying which might have bothered him if he cared at this point, and then again did he ever really care? As they passed by the ant the horse kicked up some dirt as if to bury the person underneath. Gordan smiled and a small amount of color began to appear in his face.

"Well then, shall we?"

Gordan gave a slight bow and the horse snorted, they began on their journey to the kingdom. Gordan chuckled to himself as he thought of it, quite the group they were. A horse, a soilder, and a fool, it was almost enough to make him laugh but that might have disturbed the soilder so he refrained from doing so. Somthing about the peaceful nature of their walk made Gordan feel somthing that he had never felt before, ease, and to be honest he didn't hate it.
