Chapter 35 - So We Meet Again

As soon as Gordans eyes closed he woke up again inside of the dream world. He saw as well that he was back next to the black tree surrounded by the sea of blood and hagrid cliffs.

"I have to say you really know how to decorate don't you?"

Gordan turned his head a round slowly, he knew that voice, they had been talking earlier that day. Sure enough the black and white figure was sitting on a beach that was made of black sand. The bloodily waves lapped gently against the shore. Gordan noticed that the scene seemed alittle less bleak at least, but at that thought spikes began to come up from the blood forming jagade spikes.

=Sigh=

He really needed to work on controlling what he thought, who knows what might happen if he did. And then another change began to appear, the sun began turning red like the blood river, bathing everything in a red light that made it hard to see for a minute, but gradually his eyes grew accustomed to the bleak veiw. Thick black mist was rolling over the plains changing its shape constantly.

"Calm down there, I know you're a bit made about me taking over temporarily but if you're not careful monsters are going to spawn... Oh wait there's one now, never mind. In my defence I didn't think that you would get this mad about a bit of body snatching."

The figure was slowly backing away from Gordan who was letting his imagination run just a bit wild. Seeing the extreme discomfort that the figure seemed to be in Gordan stopped, he felt that it was enough for now, since after all the figure had only intended to help the horses. But on the other hand that still didn't really give him the right to take over someone's body.

=Sigh=

"Well that do you want, I don't think I have that much time to talk."

Just as he said this he could feel the pull of the other dream start to drag him away. He frowned at the figure who looked at him in confusion.

"Never mind we can talk later, but you had better have a good excuse for earlier."

And with that he was once again dragged back into the peaceful dreamworld with the small cottage, only this time he saw that the surroundings had changed a little bit. There was now a full blown waterfall next the the garden and a singular small bird sitting in a single tree. Gordan slowly walked over and saw that Jean was digging some sort of trench, the table was still set in the same way that it had been before with the tea set out that he had made before leaving. Gordan leaned down next to the unfinished trench and tapped Jean's shoulder.

"Hey, how's it going?"

Jean jumped in shock and fell down into the trench. After the initial shock he looked up and saw Gordans face, he was put into total shock.

"What are you doing here?"

Gordan frowned and turned his head to the side.

"What in the world are you talking about, I got dragged back into this place again as soon as I fell asleep."

Jean looked confused for a moment, and then he stopped.

"Um, how long has it been for you since you were last here?"

Gordan had the feeling that he knew where this was going, the time did seem to be a bit out of whack, considering that the last time that he had been in this place it had only felt like a hour or two but outside it was about five hours. Looking at the progress that had been made in the dream world however he assumed that when he was not here time moved a lot faster than when he was here.

"Its been alittle more than thirteen hours, but I guess for you it's been a bit longer?"

Gordan offered Jean a hand and pulled him out of the pit with ease. Jean took a moment to catch his breath, he had been in this place for so long now he was starting to forget what it was like to exist in another place, the only real tie that he had to the natural world was Gordan, who had shown up after he had been alone for twenty years. Jean walked over to the table and offered Gordan a seat.

"Yes, it's been almost seven months, but more importantly what's up with the paint?"

Jean indicated Gordans face which made him grin. Jean didn't even flinch, even though the last time he had seen Gordan smile he had gone unconscious.

"Weird isn't it? As long as I have somthing covering my face, such as paint, my face doesn't effect people as aggressively."

Jean was shocked that such a thing might be fact, but having seen what happened if Gordan smiled normally the idea didn't seem as preposterous as it should.

"That is indeed fascinating. would you like some tea?"

Gordan was sitting across from Jean at the table, he nodded his head in reply. Once the tea was poured Gordan took a small sip, and found that the beverage had a slightly similar taste to the thing that he had served Jean the last time they had met.

"You seem to have done some work on the place, it looks nice."

Gordan set down his cup and smiled cheerfully at Jean as he spoke. Jean looked out at the things that he had accomplished since Gordan had last been there, it had taken quite a bit of work but he was satisfied with it. It may not have been as strong as Gordan's but his own imagination was not the worst either.

"Yes, it took me a bit of work but I was finally able to add a bit of character to this place."

Jean smiled back at Gordan, he didn't know why but he felt like he had known him for years. Which was slightly odd seeing as the two of them had met just before. At first when Gordan had come to his area he was a bit sceptical of his intentions, but after he had six and a half months to think about it, nothing that Gordan had done was threatening to him. All that Gordan had done was help him. He also thought a lot about how he had been imprisoned in this place. Six and a half months ago he had been unable to tell Gordan why that was, but since then he had made a sort of peace with his past trauma and decided to tell Gordan about it if they ever had the chance to meet again.

He must have been concentrating for a bit of time since when he looked up to begin Gordan was frowning in worry.

"Are you okay?"

His voice seemed uncharacteristically worried, Jean smiled to calm him down, thinking about the expression on Gordan's face he started to chuckle a little, it was almost identical to the expressions that his family would make when he would lock himself away for weeks at a time in order to conduct research.

"I'm glad it's nothing to serious, before I came here someone that I was traveling with had an expression very similar to the one you just had."

Jean nodded his head thinking that he understood.

"So what happened to him? Is your friend alright?"

Jean was surprised that he had said friend, it was a rather an odd word for him to think, he didn't have any friends personally, and had only really encountered the word in terms if an observer, or from a book. Gordans eyes seemed to dim slightly.

"Well he went unconscious, and when he woke up he had forgoten everything that had happened to him that day."

Gordan had said this in a more depressed tone, not becouse he was personally effected by the soilders situation, but becouse he had been in a position where he had been the person effected. Memory loss was always hard for Gordan to deal with since he was always the person who had to rebuild any relationships that were lost, since he was never the one afflicted with the memory loss. He frowned thinking about the soilder, he almost hoped that the soilder didn't have anyone who he was that close to since somthing like that could be extremely devastating, Gordan had seen it break up family's and friendships so many times that he didn't even bother counting anymore.

"Oh well, I'm sorry for your friend, that kind of thing can be rough, but just stick with it, I'm sure that things will work out."

Jean really didn't know what he was spouting but he wanted to lighten the mood a bit, which it seemed to do. Gordan stopped frowning, and looked at Jean with a completely neutral expression.

"Do you need to talk about somthing? I know that I might be off a bit, but you look like you want to talk."

Jean let out a sigh and nodded slowly.

"Yes actually, there was somthing that I wanted to tell you about. It was somthing that we briefly touched on before, do you remember?"

Gordan nodded his head, he had a pretty good idea what Jean was talking about.

"You mean the reason that you are in here to begin with?"
