The process took about ten minutes, which was telling in how strong Jean's magic affinity was since that was about ten times faster than it usually took people, and after it was finished he really didn't look all that tired for the amount of energy that it should have consumed.
"He should be waking up anytime now, but you should be careful that you don't say to much since this process is a bit on the delicate side, and it might make things even worse than they were before."
Gordan nodded and picked up the soilder without hesitation.
"Thank you for your assistance, I will make sure that I repay the favor. Anyway we had better head out before it gets to late."
Gordan smiled at Jean and suddenly began to fade out of focus. Jean waved goodbye to them and then turned back to his garden to continue renovations. He pulled a small seed out of his pocket and rolled it in his hand gently wondering what in the world it might end up turning into, and all of his other thoughts drifted away. Before coming to this place he had only ever cared about his family, but now he found that he rather enjoyed gardening. He felt like even with the devastation of the situation at least something good had come out of it, then he thought about the friend he had gained and smiled, so mabye more than one good thing had come out of the situation.
Gordan grown more accustomed to the feeling of being dragged out of the dream world, so when he felt the small nudging sensation he emidiatly prepared to head out. He was expecting consequences for using magic inside of the dream world but he didn't expect that they would be as bad as they were. As soon as he came back into his own body he leaned over into the bushes and began to caugh up large amounts of blood, and then his veins began to burn like they were on fire. He held up his hand and looked at the veins that were visible in his hand and frowned, instead of the dull green that they usually were they had turned a deep red that resembled blood.Other than the coughing and the problem with his veins, he felt like he had been struck by lightning, his joints were extremely stiff and it was painful to even turn his head slightly.
He was aware that he couldn't fulfill his mission in this condition, so he pulled his arm up to his collar bone and stabbed his finger though his skin, and quickly removed his hand. Slowly a black liquid began to pour out of the wound, Gordan slowly took his hand and dipped it in the liquid ,which was burning hot, he smiled and slowly drew a circle on his throat, and made a line strait through the circle, which made the symptoms emedeatly calmed down, but at the same time he could feel his tongue dry up which was quite a bit of discomfort. He looked up and saw that the horse was nudging the soilder in an attempt to wake him up. Gordan stood up slowly, getting used to having his body limber again. Once he had stretched for a bit he walked over to the soilder and gently flicked his forehead, which made his eyes flash open.
"Welcome back to the land of the living, how do you feel?"
The soilder blinked several times and sat up looking around. He looked a bit confused and bewildered.
"What's going on, where am I?"
Gordan sighed and looked around them.
"Well to answer your second question, we are about to enter the capital, what's going on is a bit more complicated. If I had to put it into words, you've been unconscious for the entire day after you saw me and collapsed, so I might not be the best person to ask that question."
The soilder nodded his head and thought about what had happened.
"I was in a dark place and then there were two people, one of them I knew, the other was a stranger. They asked me if I wanted to remember what I had forgotten."
Suddenly his face went pale, and he looked at Gordan with an expression of pure terror.
"There were two people with me, what was their condition when you found me?"
He already knew it, but he hoped that by some insane miracle he was wrong. He looked carefully at Gordan who seemed to be thinking back.
"Sorry, but by the time I got there they were already dead."
He looked extremely sad about having to bring that up, but the soilder smiled at him, it wasn't however a happy smile.
"Hey, Gordan, what's the point in living without anything to live for?"
Gordan looked at the soilder whose eyes were completely devoid of life, and smiled.
"Who knows? But isn't that somthing that you have to figure out for yourself?"
The soilder just sat there motionless, thinking about what had happened to him. He couldn't understand why it had all happened to him, in confusion he looked at Gordan and was shocked to find that though he was smiling, his eyes gave off the feeling that he knew exactly what the soilder was going through.
"I guess that's true, so what are you planning on doing now that you're here?"
Gordan's expression brightened.
"Well first things first, we need to get you to your former commander so you can inform him of the situation."
The soilder looked at him with a blank expression.
"How do you know about the comander?"
Gordans smile widened and he seemed to he keeping an innocent guise.
"Oh it wasn't anything much, I just asked the surviving attacker from the other day, nothing much."
The soilder was a bit sceptical about his expression but he just shrugged his shoulders. If he was going to have to live without those that he cared about, he could at least avenge their deaths.
"Well then, let's get going shall we? Don't want to keep the comander waiting."
The horse bumped into the back of the soilders head which made him turn his head to see what had happened. He suddenly noticed that the horse looked extremely familiar. Suddenly his face went white.
"Wait a second, where did this horse come from again?"
Gordan glanced casually at the horse and then back at the soilder.
"Oh, that's the horse that belongs to the person that I assume killed your friends. And by the way, that person already made it back to the kingdom."
The soilder looked at Gordan like he was some unknown being, and then he noticed somthing odd.
"What happened to your skin?"
Gordan looked down and saw that his veins were still slightly discolored.
"Oh it's nothing to worry about, it should be gone eventually. Anyway we have to get going before we run into any more trouble. By the way How are you feeling?"
The soilder flexed his hands and looked around.
"I think I should be fine now, but you do have a point we need to get going."
Gordan reached out his hand to help the soilder up. The soilder almost found the scene nostalgic but he accepted the help and quickly got to his feet. The soilder couldn help but feel like somthing similar had happened recently but for what ever reason he couldn't tell were.
They were much closer than the soilder had expected them to be. And now he wondered how they had traveled that distance so quickly, since he didn't really remember being on the road for that long.
The capital of the kingdom was actually located towards the boarder of the kingdom which had always seemed a bit odd to the soilder since that seemed rather impractical in a strategical scence. The soilder walked behind Gordan, but next to the horse who seemed to be quite attached to him for some reason. The horse would periodically look over to see how the soilder was doing, and then it would turn back to look towards the road ahead. When they reached the gates Gordan pulled an item out of his bag and handed it to the soilder.
"I get the feeling that you and the king won't be on the best of terms so you might want to put this over your shoulders."
The soilder looked at the strange fir that he had never seen before. He looked up at Gordan with a questioning expression. But Gordan just shrugged.
"Don't worry about it, the fir will prevent any unnecessary problems with the guards. Just trust me on this."
Now that the soilder thought about it he didn't really know if he could trust Gordan, but he really didn't have any reason not to trust him either, so he put the fir over he shoulders and the three of them got into the line of people heading into the capital.
