Gordan and the horse walked at an even pace in order to make the sleeping soilder a bit more comfortable. Gordan periodically switched which shoulder he carried the soilder on since the horse got kind of annoyed if he didn't move from time to time, in order to become more comfortable. Gordan didn't really mind dealing with it all that much, but what he did mind was that he wasn't able to fight anything. While he was slowly gaining control of himself he also felt a bit betrayed by himself who had promised stronger opponents. But now he needed to keep going, the walk was nice and peaceful and almost made him want to forget about fighting. He looked up to see that the sky was being to darken, compared to the day before things had flown by for Gordan. The change of pace made him almost drop his guard, but he remembered what had happened the last time he had done that, and he had no desire to repeat that ordeal.
They found a spot near some non-lethal trees and Gordan went off to collect some fire wood while the horse watched over the person. He was able to find the appropriate materials rather quickly since he came upon a fallen tree that was rather easy to dismantle, he also collected some rocks in order to make a small fire pit. When he returned he found the the person was still unconscious leaning against a tree, and the horse was busy eating grass nearby. Gordan smiled to himself and began to fix up the small camp. He opened up the pack that he had been carrying around all day and pulled out a blanket spreading it out on the grass for later use. He then pulled out some rations and began to heat them slightly over a small fire that he had constructed. When the food was completed Gordan quietly ate, he had a piece of toasted bread with some warmed dried meat and melted cheese. It was somthing that he had put together back when he was on the battlefield in order to spice things up a bit, especially in the winter when it was actually painful to eat the dried meat that they were given since it would be half frozen. Gordan took another bite of the toasted meal and let out a sigh of satisfaction.
Gradually the air began to cool down until it became rather cold. Gordan looked over his shoulder to see that the person was shivering. Gordan walked over to the person and gently picked them up taking them over to the blanket where he proceeded to rap the person up like a burrito and then place him close enough to the fire to stay warm but far enough away to prevent him from catching ablaze. Then Gordan sat down by him, and the horse lay down to make a rest for Gordan to lean against, which he happily expected. Almost as soon as the horse had settled in it fell asleep, leaving Gordan with night watch.
He sat extremely still taking everything in his surroundings. From another persons perspective it looked like he was daydreaming but he knew every bit of movement that came even remotely close. Gordan smiled as he heard somthing that interested him greatly, the fire had pretty much died down until it was just a few burning embers on the verge of extinction, he was sitting extreamly still when he heard a person, or to be a bit more accurate three persons coming through on the path. They wouldn't be able to hear or see Gordan or the camp since he had picked a rather well hidden alcove in the trees. One of the people seemed to have a bit of a limp, and was being supported by two people on either side.
"If I ever see that soilder again he is dead."
Gordan smiled as they passed by without taking any notice, they were talking a bit much for people that were traveling at night, but the statement about wanting to kill a guard confirmed to Gordan that this was most likely the person that had been buried under the ant, at the thought of it Gordan almost laughed. The only thing that stopped him was the single fact that he really didn't want to deal with any of that garbage late at night.
When the trio had passed Gordan poked the embers with a stick in order to make them come back to life, and then gently placed some fire wood down onto the now active embers. He looked over at a small sound of movement and saw that the guard had finally regained consciousness. He looked around in a confused manner before realizing that he was unable to move. But before he could panic Gordan untied the blanket allowing the guard to move freely.
"Welcome back to the land of the living kid."
The guard looked at him confused trying to think of the last thing that he knew had happened. But his brain was still a bit muddled, he looked at the person in front of him and couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated. The person In front of him was a lot larger than he was, and he had the feeling that the person would have no trouble killing him with his bear hands. But the thing that was for him the strangest thing was the paint on the persons face. It was a bit unsettling to see, but he had a vague recollection of it for some reason. And then the voice registered, he had heard that voice before rather recently. He was extremely confused and he felt like his head was splitting.
Gordan smiled at the guard who seemed to be quite confused, he assumed that ment that he had forgoten what had happened earlier which was fine by Gordan since the actions that his rather unhinged self caused weren't exactly somthing that he enjoyed dealing with. He decided that if the person had locked out the memory, he probably didn't want to rehash it all over again, so Gordan politely formed a scapegoat for him.
"If your wondering, I found you collapsed by the road and recognized your uniform, since I'm only way to that location anyway I thought that I might as well bring you along."
Gordan smiled at the guard again, which seemed to calm him down a tiny bit which was a relief to Gordan who hadn't expected things to go over that smoothly. He rather wondered how much the person had forgotten but he knew from experience that, somthing like that might reboot his memories. Gordan reached out his hand to the person in greeting.
"I know it might be a bit late, but it's nice to meet you, my name is Gordan."
The smile never left Gordans face, and the soilder didn't really feel all that threatened anymore, which was a bit odd. Why in the world had he been wary about this person in the first place? His head hurt and he felt hungry, and then he realized that he hadn't responded back to him.
"Oh, sorry about that, it's nice to meet you as well, sorry about you having to help me out, can you tell me where you found me? I can't seem to remember anything other than being called out to go on patrol in the morning."
Gordan turned his head to the side thinking about how much information was good to tell him. He didn't really want to tell him, but he also had the feeling that he needed to tell him since the person under the ant was out to get him. He was so conflicted, he sometimes had trouble with this kind of thing, especially when it came to talking to people. He could understand facts, but emotions were quite speratic. He could always use magic if things went south, but he never really liked mind manipulation.
"Do you really need me to answer that question?"
He said it slowly which made the guard a bit worried about why he was acting that way, it made him suddenly wonder where the people that had been assigned the mission with him. He looked into Gordans eyes and saw that the situation had been fairly bad. Suddenly he heard the sound of a horse and turned to see the hero's white horse which had just woken up and was watching the two of them suspiciously.
"Calm down he woke up on his own, don't worry so much you might start to have health problems."
The soilder looked at Gordan confused, he wasn't sure if Gordan was just talking or if he could communicate with the horse. Gordan turned back to him and smiled.
"He's been quite worried about you since earlier."
He acted as though that solved the entire issue, but it really only made the guard more confused about what had happened, but he desided to stop his inquiries for now. He suddenly noticed that it was quite late at night and Gordan looked a bit tired, meaning that he had been keeping watch while he slept.
"Hey, Gordan, I can keep watch for a bit, you should get some sleep, I mean we have to get back to the castle in one peice right?"
Gordan smiled a bit and turned over to the horse who was nodding its head in agreement. Gordan was a bit tired, but he knew that sleeping wouldn't really help all that much, he also had the feeling that the two of them wouldn't be to happy if he threw a fit about it.
=Sigh=
"If you are sure you'll be fine, then I guess it doesn't matter to much."
The soilder nodded his head and offered the blanket to Gordan, but he shook his head rejecting the offer.
"You need it more than I do Well then, see you in the morning."
Gordan waved his hand and lay down onto the ground instantly falling asleep.
