"What is going on here? Why are you at the forest instead of the hearing?"
He looked accusingly at the calm soilder who bowed slightly in response, the other two fallowed suit, but he could tell that they weren't happy about it. He was gritting his own teeth in anger, but he still remained calm. His fingers itched for his swords but he kept them by his side, he didn't need to endanger his friends any further.
The hero looked down on the guards with complete disgust, the spineless nature made him sick, they lacked the dignity that soilders were supposed to have. Ever since he had been summoned here he had been forced to deal with disappointment after disappointment. He wanted to fight, and he felt like fighting now and the king had tipped him off that the guard was in on the whole plan, so he decided to make the guard mad in order to get him to strike first, and then he would be free to inform the king that they were more traitors that he had been lucky enough to uncover before they increased the danger of the situation. He smiled as he thought of somthing that might get under the guards skin quite a bit.
"You should have seen the bodys, they strung them up at the castle walls. They even left a note explaining all of the things that they had done, solidifying the charges against them."
The guard clenched his fists and then released, he knew what the idiot was trying to do and he wouldn't give in to it not now that he had survived this long.
"Is that so? And may I ask what could have dragged you away from such an interesting display?"
He spoke evenly without revealing anything in his voice, it was dry and empty like his soul. The hero was flustered for a moment but then regained his composure.
"The king ask me to tell you that the general has returned from his trip abroad. Though I don't know why it would be neccessary for someone that is related to traitors to know."
The soilder relaxed a bit after hearing the news, the general returning was the best news that they had received since before the hero arrived six months prior. The general was the kings uncle who had been sent out to a far off country for the past three years. During that time the king had picked fights with just about every one of the surrounding kingdoms which was why he had needed a hero in order to scare the other country's into keeping quiet. And since the guard was originally part of the generals task forse it was obvious why the king would be so eager to meet with him, after all the general wasn't due back for another six months. And if the guards thoughts were correct, the king had hoped that he would be dead by that point, after all that was the whole reason that his siblings had died, becouse they were all part of the forse. He kept his friends in the dark about this one thing since if they gained knowledge of it their lives would be forfeit. It was merely a happy coincidence that the hero had been the cause of their demise, which only made the king more indulgent toward the hero.
The knight looked at hero and saw something in his eyes. It was one that he was familiar with, the hero was intending to kill him, which made his actions crystal clear. The guard sighed at the realization that he could have let the hero get away with self defense if he hadn't stopped himself.
"Well thank you hero, this information is quite invaluable. Once our comrades exit the forest we will be sure to make our way to the castle right away."
The hero frowned and looked at them carefully.
"And tell me who exactly were the two guards that entered the forest?"
The guard held back another sigh, the heros suspicious tone reminded him of one time when he had been in the generals company and they had been forced to negotiate with a group of people that were truly aggravating. It made him want to tear the heros throat out and force him to eat it, but of course he couldn't and so he calmed his breath and spoke.
"Carelstin, and Reeves, they were supposed to exit from there inspection an hour ago."
They were two of the heros known confidants who helped him out with his pranks. The guard expected a negative response but was a bit shocked when the hero slapped his face making his helmet come off, which was not a very pleasant experience. As the helmet was jerked off his head it broke the strap that held it in place which made the metal clamp dig into his ear and pull some of it off.
The hero was indeed strong, and really didn't have a good grasp on his own abilities as of yet so he had the tendency to over do things. But the soilder didn't even flinch, his hair tumbled out in all of its glory. He didn't like the idea of cutting hair and neither had his mother so he never did, and as a result he had hair that was longer than just about anyone in the kingdom. Infact many of the females in the kingdom were quite jealous of his hair which was almost black and wavy. He didn't like to keep his hair down and tended to keep it up since there was a lot of it.
His ear began to bleed quite a bit, but he just stood there not moving an inch even from the shock of the sudden action. The hero looked alittle flustered since usually when somthing like that happened the person would be sent flying while screaming out in pain.
"Why haven't you gone in after them then? You are trying to get rid of them becouse they are my friends aren't you? Who would have thought that you would also turn out to be a traitor."
The hero said the words with an almost visible malice, the other two guards reached for their swords, and before anyone could react the hero drew his sword and cut off their heads. It was so quick that the soilder didn't fully comprehend what had happened. The hero stood back wiping off his blade and smiling, content with himself.
"Well that was over too quickly, maybe you can last longer hmmm?"
The Guard looked up at him with eyes that were filled with rage, but he did not yet break his guise.
"They ask us not to fallow them under any circumstances so we were just fallowing our orders, and yet you cut them down, why?"
The hero, who had been about to strike stopped at such an amusing question. He was a bit surprised that the guard wasn't showing any signs of attacking even though his comrades had just been savagely cut down in front of him. The hero for all of his strength was rather inexperienced when it came to hidden emotions, which was the reason that he didn't notice the hostility.
"Well, can't take back what's been done. I guess you have to die here, but don't worry you will be remembered as a traitor who abandoned his comrades and died."
The hero struck out in the same way that he had before expecting similar results, but the guard was ready and pulled out the twin blades and redirected the force of the massive sword that was the heros preferred weapon. He pulled back just out of the reach of the blade. The hero was taken back as he hadn't expected any resistance.
"Why did you fall back? You really are a coward, aren't you?"
The hero looked up at the guard and for the first time the pure hatred that seemed to be pouring out of the guard. The hero smiled, he would have a bit of fun killing the guard now, it might even end up being a challenge.
Just as he was about to strike a giant ant which seemed to be missing a leg jumped into the clearing landing on the hero full forse.
"And this is why I should remember to aim for then neck, but really that wouldn't have been any fun, but at least I got out of the forest with time to spare."
The guard looked up to see a person on the ants back, the figure was completely devoid of color, well except for two streams of blood falling down his face.
