Chapter 29 - The Massacre

Gordan didn't like swarms or mobs of any kind, and he was well aware what the ants intentions were, that was plain as day. It was obvious that they intended to eat the horses who were helplessly trying to escape even through their exhaustion. Gordan didn't want to get involved with the situation becouse he had a job to do, he looked to the guards but they were just sitting back watching the whole thing as if they had already planned for this to happen. This made Gordan rather annoyed again, they were acting like this was just another day, and mabye it was but they could have at least given the animals a fair shot at survival.

Gordan knew he shouldn't get angry but it just disgusted him how they were just sitting there. Then again he was just sitting there himself, so he didn't really have the right to judge. Suddenly one of the horses was able to break free from its harness and as soon as it did it ran in his direction looking for something. It was rather odd behavior for a horse but Gordan just stood there until the horse was right in front of him. It looked him in the eyes and let out a cry of agony.

It was a new experience for Gordan to be asked to help an animal by an animal, but the horse seemed to want his help which was odd to him. after a second the horse turned back and began to tear away at the other horses restraints.

=Sigh=

Gordan stepped out of the shadows and pulled out his small hunting knife, he half didn't believe that he was actually doing this but the other half of him was quite interested about the strange horse that had not only noticed his presence but had identified him as a nonviolent party and asked for his help. Rushing forward Gordan got between the ants and the horses, this was going to be quite the problem to deal with but now he couldn't really turn back so he just decided to go with the flow.

He ignored the horses behind him and began to cut the ants to pieces with little to no effort. The guards who saw this were completely stunned as they were fully expecting the horses to be slaughtered so that they could quietly return back to the castle.

Since he knew the weaknesses of the ants it made his job much easier, especially since the neck was so thin compared to the rest of the body. He began to smile as he tore through the rows of insects until he reached the queen who was screeching in rage and moved to attack. Gordan quickly took off the queens front legs, making the sheer mass of the queen drag her to the ground. The queen desperately tried to stand to its feet but Gordan quickly slit the creatures throat. It let out one last screech of agony before it fell to the ground dead, but Gordan could hear a rumble under the earth, it was the sound of thousands of creatures making their way to the surface.

Flicking his wrist the blood from the creatures flew off as he slowly approached the ant nest. He had a cold gleam in his eyes, he needed to get rid of this thing, the surface reason being that it would pose a problem for the village, but if Gordan was completely honest it was becouse they had made him quite angry. And he knew that the ants were just fallowing instinct, so he guessed that he was madder at the idiots who were totally fine with horribly killing their horses after making them haul that load.

Gordan stood over the entrance holding the blade in on hand, he watched as the ants got closer and closer to the top. Just as the first one was about to climb out Gordan raised his hand over the entrance and used the knife to make a small cut. After a second a drop of blood fell into the hole, The second that the drop hit the first ant it began to screech in pain as the blood melted into its skull. After a few seconds the ant's body began to glow before bursting open. The stuff that came out of the ant looked like lava, since of course that was exactly what it was.

The spell was one that could only be used twice a week but unfortunately that toll that it required was a bit on the steep side. The spell was called 'blistering inferno' The thing about this spell was that by applying a bit of the host's blood to an object or enemy and turns the insides into lava which then breaks out of the shell infecting anyone that came into contact with the lava. Soon the lava would multiply and was capable of destroying large areas, it could be even more effective if you were able to add an explosion enchantment onto the overall design.

Gordan watched as the ants began to spontaneously combust until the hole was gone, replaced by a puddle of magma. Gordan wasn't satisfied but it would have to do, he snapped his fingers and the lava instantly hardened and the screeching stopped, but the full echo could still be heard.

The guards had a job, and a very simple job at that. They were supposed to bring the last of the ants as well as the new queen into the almost completed hill. The two of them had been given orders to get rid of all evidence of human involvement. So they were going to have the horses killed and they would burn the evidence. It would look like a normal caravan had been attacked, it was a simple job. The king was getting a bit annoyed with the hero's constant badgering about how there were no foes suitable for him to fight, so he had desided to make something that could be useful to him in the future. The hill would serve a total of three purposes but the guards were only aware of two of them. They had sat back to watch the show, but just as the ants were about to attack one of the horses broke free from its restraints and ran toward the trees. This didn't really concern them until the horse suddenly came back and began to tear at the other horse's restraints fallowed by an odd figure with a painted face holding a small hunting knife.

The two soilders watched in horror as the ants were cut down one by one including the queen. And then the figure walked over to the hill and dropped something in it which made the ants that were running to the top begin to sceam in pain. The soilders covered their ears to save themselves from the sound, and then it suddenly disappeared and the world seemed to go silent. They stood unsure of what to do in the silence, and then the figure turned around. One of the soilders stifled a scream, the person who hadn't seemed to have taken any damage from the fight was bleeding from his eyes in continuous streams, the air around the figure seemed to turn an almost grey color as did his skin and clothing, but the blood stayed the same. The figure turned in their direction and slowly began walking over without making a sound.

The other Guard threw down his weapons and was about to turn and run away from the location but one of the trees began to move behind the two guards, and suddenly the guards found themselves unable to move as the grey figure drifted closed and closed to them.
