Gordan was stunned but he quickly recovered since he needed to take advantage of any possible opportunity that he could get. He really just had to stop and ask himself if medical treatment was worth all of the trouble that would come from dealing with the insanity of his current situation.
Gordan grabbed the kid's arm as he was about to jump out of the brush and stop the other children from throwing their lives away. Leech looked back at Gordan with eyes full of anger.
"They will ruin the mission, we have to stop them!"
It wasn't that Gordan didn't see were the kid was coming from, it was just that the kid was being rather hasty.
"I know that but what good would it do if we went out right now? Nothing good would come from..."
Midsentence Gordan felt a wave of nausea wash over him, looking up he saw that the man who had come with the boar-bear had raised up his hands upon seeing the children. He was muttering some kind of incantation, Gordan gritted his teeth holding back the urge to throw up. Why was that idiot performing a magic nullification spell in this situation?
Gordan could tell that Leech was confused at what was wrong with him, but Gordan had neither the time nor the energy to explain the fact that without the magic that the cloaked figure had put on Gordan in order to close up his injuries he was as good as dead.
He had about five minutes to do something before he lost consciousness, he could already feel his skin coming off in the areas that he had been previously injured. He still didn't understand why the mage had done what he had.
He didn't have time to think about that now though, the two children had fallen down to the ground after the mage used a second spell.
Given his appearance Gordan speculated that he could take out the boar-bear right about now since the mage had started walking toward the children with a knife raised in his hands. He could tell that Leech wanted to help them for some reason but they could only do one.
Given Gordans own knowledge about mages in general he could guess that the creature most likely was equipped with a berserker skill. It was standard practace for mages to install this skill in their mounts so that if anything happened to the mage the animal would go crazy and kill everyone within a certain proximity of its skill.
And the last thing they needed was a berserk boar-bear. The kid started to dart forward but Gordan stopped him and handed him the snake head. He knew that he would regret this but he couldn't risk the kid running out pointlessly. The only thing he could do to give himself closure about the situation was that though it was standard practice to equip the berserker skill not everyone did.
Gordan loosened his shoulders and took the bandage off his head and rapped it around his other hand. He he didn't have much time, he would have to deal with this situation quickly before it escalated any further, taking a deep breath he cleared his mind of everything but the task before him, his mind became totally filled with one idea. He needed to get rid of the mage.
The air around Leech became cold and he began shivering uncontrollably, but his mind was to full of saving the others from his village that he didn't notice. He knew that it was selfish, and he also knew that those were the same children that had robbed him and left him for dead, but he couldn't let them die no matter what. He tightly gripped the snake head in his hands, he had only vaguely noticed Gordan handing it to him, he was fully focused on the man with the knife, and the smile that was spreading over his face as he raised the knife further over his head. Leech was just about to throw away all caution and run out to at least gain the mages attention when he fell to the ground right before Leech's eyes.
Gordan straightened out his back and ran one of his hands through his hair to get it out of his face.
=sigh=
He had forgotten how much blood had dried in his hair over the last six days making his hair have a quite unpleasant feeling. Gordan looked down at the fallen mage before him, it had been so fast that his face wasn't quite able to register what had happened to him so his face was frozen between the enjoyment of killing two troublemakers, and a look of horror.
In Gordans opinion he had done the job rather smoothly, this time he only got minor kick back from the effort which was better than usual.
=ROAR!!!=
Had it really been to much to ask that the mage hadn't used the berserker skill? Gordan turned to were the kid was hiding in the bushes and started over to get back the snake head. After taking a few steps Gordans legs gave out and he began coughing up rather alarming amounts of blood. His vision started to phase in and out, he could see that the boar-bear was staring to go into a frenzy, he needed to get up and deal with this situation, then he could sleep hopefully, but then again with how things were going he didn't know if that would be possible.
Digging his fingers into his leg he pulled himself back into consciousness, wiping his mouth and swallowing back some of the blood. At this point the only thing keeping him awake was his drive to kill the boar-bear. He reached Leech and grabbed the snake head out of the child's hand, he vaguely noticed that the boy seemed to he in a daze but he turned away without giving it a second thought.
His muscles and bones were crying out in pain, but he just ignored them. He hoped the the leeches and blood would be strong enough to take out the creature soon enough for him to not die. Thankfully the creature was occupied with the fortress and didn't notice Gordan slowly walking up to it without a hint of killing intent.
Gordan got right next to the boar-bear and drove the fangs into the bears throat causing the bear to grow even more violent. Gordan started to back up but the bear had already locked onto him. Gordan couldn't have cared any less at that point, as the seconds ticked by he felt the life start to drain out of him. He looked up at the beast that had raised onto its hind legs, Gordan's mouth curved into a smile which he didn't bother to hide. If he was going to go down he was going to go down, but that didn't mean he would just lay down and wait for it.
Seeing his face the boar-bear froze up for a second, even in its berserker rage it was terrified to the person smiling at it. Person, no in the creatures eyes this was not a person, it was a monster drenched in blood. But a second was all that it took for the almost dead Gordan to strike. He jumped forward latching onto the boar-bear and quickly scrambling to the back of its neck. The boar-bear's blood ran cold, and it tried to call out but Gordan simply grabbed its head and twisted, severing the huge beasts spine instantly.
The boar-bear fell to the ground with a thud. Gordan slipped off of it's back and leaned against the mighty beast as the poison began to take effect. Gordan patted its head with the last bit of strength that was in him and muttered something under his breath that only the bear could hear.
"Rest well my friend, may we meet in the next life."
He didn't know why he had said it but as soon as he did he heard a sigh escape the bear and felt the life pass out of it. Gordan didn't even have the will to react, he felt his vision start to fade and the one thought.
"How is this a safe place?"
He muttered it under his breath as he thought back to the dark figure that had sent him here in the first place. Well at least now he would be able to sleep for the first time in a week, and that was a nice feeling to drift off to.
