SELENE escaped from their mansion an hour after she got confronted by her parents. Not reminding the possibility of danger outside her comfort zone, she bravely ran through the dim road. Her feet brought her to the Garden of Blossoms, which she calculated was too far from her home. Well, obviously, she's determined to come unto her favorite spot no matter what.
As she entered the garden, she was greeted with its awesome smell; the scent of nature like the last time she came there. There were also lights hanging from the branches of the trees which she thanked for. At least, she could stay there even its darker than she thought.
The night was so cold, so distant. Selene felt shivers throughout her body as the wind blew so gloomy. But then, she was so smart to bring Reiji's coat, that she forgot to return the last time they met.
Well, blame her for crowded mind for overthinking things. To the point that she almost disremembered everything when she's with Reiji. Her world completely focused only to him.
Selene wore his coat without any hesitation. The only idea running through her mind right now was to get warmth. And she succeeded. She almost imagined that Reiji was hugging her from behind, like how his coat covered her. She admitted, she misses Reiji, her bestfriend.
She then reminisced what happened earlier. About her mother being decisive of making her stay away from Reiji. Which was against her will.
Why is her mother acting so dramatic whenever Reiji was around her?
Is it because of the incident fourteen years ago? That both of her and him almost got killed?
Is it related to why Reiji left her without any words unsaid?
D*mn, her head hurts for finding out the reason of all these sh*ts.
As Selene reached the river, and she arrived there, a familiar figure, standing in front along the riverside, jolted her.
She was about to shout from the top of her lungs when the figure moved to face her. She was welcomed with the strong yet placid presence of the man whom she didn't stopped thinking and stayed in each and every corners of her brain.
As Reiji landed his eyes on hers, she was perplexed.
"Selene…"
Her heart was vaulting with joy. It must be fate that led her to be with him once again.
"Reiji!" Selene ran and jump herself in his arms. Reiji immediately accepted her warm embrace.
Then, unpredictably, she cried in his chest. She doesn't know why her heart sank from joy to sorrow as her body touches him.
Maybe she recalled the fear of being away from him, as her parents' contradictory over her will.
As she whimpered against his chest, not thinking of wetting his shirt, she began to release the heavy chord inside her heart. It was pained, it was suffocating her.
She couldn't bear to lose him once again.
"Hush, my Selene…" she heard him soothing her as he covered her with his arms. "Is there something bothering you?"
Her arms tightened on his waist, straining him from getting away. "Please, don't leave me…" she pleaded, almost inaudible.
Reiji leaned to place a soft kiss on her forehead which she didn't expect him to do. "I'm not leaving you anymore, Selene. That's the one thing I would never do."
Teary-eyed, she stared him, asking. "Reiji, tell me. Will you choose to leave me if someone else detached us?"
Reiji's emotion changed. It was abruptly difficult to distinguish.
"Would you leave me if you don't have any choice?"
He didn't answer.
"Did you left me fourteen years ago because you don't want to be with me anymore?"
Again, his mouth remained shut.
"Tell me, Reiji! Is it because of my mother?!"
Instead, Reiji pulled her for a close-fitting embrace. He buried his face on her neck as he whispered words that were enough for her to hear.
"I never wanted to leave you, Selene. I was forced to do it." Pain was all over his voice. "I'm sorry. You must have hurt very bad…"
Selene's presentiment was right. Someone was interfering their bond. She was sure that since their childhood, someone else doesn't want them to be together.
And the incident years ago has been taken advantage.
But behind that, Reiji, her crying shoulder, who always protected her from the beginning, despite the fact that he was forced to leave her fourteen years ago, is now holding her, making her not feel alone in the dark.
She was thankful that he chose to stay beside her again. Even there were questions left unanswered.
