CARRYING the bouquet of freshly red roses that Ken gave her as a surprise, Selene left the building of Katashi Publishing House as she went towards the parking lot. She didn't know how to face Reiji since she believed that he might think of assumptions about the flowers she brought. Furthermore, he's also a man. Men literally were amateurs when it comes to courting women they loved. And Reiji is one of them.
As she approached his car, Selene caught Reiji outside of it, waiting for her. The smile on his lips suddenly disappeared as his eyes landed at the thing she was carrying.
Selene didn't know how to rightly explain. Fear flowed inside her body as it tingles because of tension. Looks like he's not happy and comfortable, seeing her holding a thing coming from someone's adoration.
Wait, what's with the rush? How come she felt nervous as if she did something wrong? Apparently, there's no intimacy between them, right? So was she so worried about Reiji's reaction?
They're just friends, okay?
"Hey…" Selene awkwardly greeted her friend who just changed his mood after a second.
Reiji crossed his arms. He meaningfully examined her from head to toe. "Looks like you had such a nice day, huh?"
Her eyebrows arched. Is there something wrong with her? Why did he examine her? "What's with the sudden inspection, Reiji?"
"Who gave you those flowers?"
She was stunned, trying to get his point for asking such an impulsive question.
Was she dreaming? Why does Reiji's tone sound jealous?
Selene grinned, planning to tease him. "Why would you want to know?"
Affected by her witticism, Reiji looked away. "I just…" he sighed in defeat. "Tss, nevermind." He then opened the door of his car and gestured her to come inside. He immediately went to the driver's seat after he assisted her.
The whole travel was so algid. Selene felt distant from Reiji although he was just beside her, driving. His pellucid tranquility really bothers her, truthfully. She started to doubt herself as if she really did something that triggered him to stay irked.
"Reiji, are you angry?"
No comment. He remained unspoken.
"Did I do something that annoys you?"
Again, like earlier, he ignored her.
"Are you angry that Ken gave me that bouquet?" Selene pointed at the bouquet of red roses resting at the backseat. "Did it upsets you?"
"So, it was Ken Katashi then?" at last, Reiji talked finally.
How did he know Ken?
How stupid of you, Selene Benzaiten! He's a famous businessman, for pete's sake. of course, he already knew high-class people around the world.
"Yeah, what's wrong with him, Reiji?"
After saying her last word, Reiji then quickly stopped his car, making both of them almost bump their bodies in front.
"Reiji! How could you?!" she scolded at him, her heart definitely pumped rapidly. "D*mn, what was that for?"
Instead of arguing with her, Reiji stared at her.
Goodness gracious, she'll melt if he continued to glare at her like that.
"It is a sign, Selene."
"What?" she couldn't comprehend his statement. "What sign are you talking about?" She's confused.
"A sign that you're giving him a chance."
"For what?"
Reiji leaned towards her, unexpectedly held her chin and stare at her like he's going to swallow her soul. "For love, my dear."
