"AM I not enough for you?"
Unfortunately, Selene has been shot by his powerful question that made her shut up. For her, the word 'enough' was very complicated to distinguish and comprehend. It's very difficult to say 'enough' for something ridiculous.
"Ken, please kill that feeling."
Ken was dumbfounded by her honest answer. "Woah, that's too straight-forward!" he immediately massaged his chest, like an act of being hurt. "Why? Don't you want me? Why would you want me to kill this feeling?"
Selene justified herself as she felt the tension between them. "Ken, I don't want you to want me. I won't give up false hope…."
"Come on, why don't you give it a try?" Ken almost pleaded, but his tone was hard to figure out if he was angry or disappointed. "I may have a lot of women in my past, but now, I'm a man with one woman."
"How can you say so?"
"D*mn!" Ken lifted his hands as a sign of loss. "You have doubted me, right?"
Selene fleetingly shook her head, making him notice that she's not agreeing with his speculations. "No, what I'm saying that I don't deserve your adoration. You must seek someone better than me."
"I already saw someone for me. And it was you, Selene."
"It wasn't me, Ken."
Ken slowly walked into her. He sat beside her. Selene felt awkward, with him closed to her. "Why do I feel like there's someone bugging you?"
Ken was truly smart. She was thinking about Reiji all along. That's why she's declining his offer.
But it's not the right time to tell him about her bestfriend since Reiji just came back yesterday.
She doesn't want any issues.
"You don't need to overthink, Ken." Selene suggested her boss. "I don't want to hurt you in the end. I want us to remain friends."
"You're hurting me right now, Selene." Ken stared at her with lonesome eyes. His eyes reflecting his emotions. This is the first time she saw him in his weakest state. The arrogant CEO she had known, the man she thought who will never bow down to everyone, now in front of her, pleading her to give him a chance.
"You'll be hurt the most if I gave you a false hope." Selene tried to gain her poise. She was near of crying since she wasn't used to hurt someone's feelings. "You're very kind to me, Ken. I treated you as a friend. I can give you anything but not what you just wanted."
Ken held her hands which were resting on her thighs. His hands were cold as an ice. A sign that he was nervous.
She can't believe it! The hot-tempered boss she knew is actually experiencing nervousness!
"Selene, this is the first time I felt something special for a woman, more than everything. And it was you, who changed me. The moment I met you, my heart started to beat eccentrically."
Oh dear heavens, how could she manage this type of situation? She didn't expect this to happen!
"Ken, I'm doing this for your sake. Yes, I'm grateful that you made me special in your life. But please, don't make it fall deeper. I might never catch you."
Ken sighed in defeat. He went away from her, but before he left the room, he asked her last two questions.
"Tell me the truth, Selene." His eyes almost begging. "Can you at least tell me if there's someone else that I don't know?"
"What do you mean?"
"Is there someone who's already owning your heart?"
