SELENE was almost panting as she ran through the stairs of Katashi Publishing House. How reckless she was, she forgot that she had a meeting with her boss, the mighty and arrogant Ken Katashi. D*mn, blame herself for not alarming her clock. Last night was very precious for her that's why she hadn't slept yet.
She and Reiji was texting all throughout the night. They were talking about everything like they used to since they were childhood. In the end, Selene invited him to meet at the Midnight Café, near Lunar Time Square so she could return his coat. Reiji texted her that it's not that necessary and he wanted her to keep it, yet she insisted with her decision.
She was excited to meet him again, later after her working time.
"You're late." As she entered the CEO office, the man sitting at his chair, with his foot resting on the table, glared at her with his strong charisma. Ken Katashi was a real hot-headed when people can't reach his standards and a playboy-type CEO who always uses women for his satisfaction. Well, she admitted, her boss was blessed to have an actor-like face and body that will bring women drool over him.
But, despite of Ken's looks, he cannot beat Reiji's…for her.
"How many times do I have to tell you don't ever waste my time?"
"I'm very sorry, sir."
"Sorry again?" he chuckled devilishly. Ken left his chair to stand in front of her. "I will not accept your sorry. Unless you gave me the answer I wanted."
Selene arched her brow. "What is it?"
Ken flashed his evil grin as he spoke. "Have you finished your novel?"
D*mn, this is what she expected. She scratched her head, a sign of downfall. "I haven't, sir." Well, here comes his deadly deadline.
"I want you to pass your novel before the year ends." Ken insisted. "Let me ask you, have you started it?"
"A little bit, sir. But don't worry I'm going to finish it." Selene wanted to smashed herself for being irresponsible. Her novel 'Love between Different Paths has been approved by her boss, the moment she sent him her summary and synopsis.
Ken just nodded, but even though his action was a simple gesture, she thought there's something behind that movement.
"Have a sit." He offered her the sofa in front of his table. She then obeyed him as she waited him to talk.
"Can I ask, sir, what are we going to talk about?"
Ken sat on his office chair. "I changed my mind about the meeting. I think it's better to talk about something else…"
Selene was surprised by his sudden change of topic. "Is it about work, sir?"
"Let's say, more likely about personal things…"
Selene got nervous. What was he talking about?
"Sir, if it's about personal things, I think it's forbidden to have a conversation about~"
"Have a date with me, Selene."
Her jaw almost dropped as she took in his proposition. "S-Sir?"
Ken naturally speak, like he never got serious with what he was saying. "I said, I want you to date me, Selene."
"S-Sir~"
"I'm prohibiting you to call me 'sir' when we're talking about our personal lives. Please call me, Ken."
"I'm not~"
"Don't you agree with my proposal?" he asked. His face turned impassive.
"It's not like that, Ken. I mean…" Selene got uncomfortable since her boss was earnestly asking her to date him. Does it look bad? She's his worker, for Pete's sake. "I think it will be a misunderstanding~"
"Am I not interested for you?"
She was stunned for a moment.
"I believe you don't have any affair with somebody. Why are you refusing me?"
"Ken, look at us, we're different!" she highlighted the word 'different' to make her boss understand her situation. It's not that easy to take his offer. It will be gamble if she will agree to him.
"What makes us different?" she knew Ken, he will never setback.
"You're my boss, I'm your employee."
"F*ck that reason, Selene. It doesn't matter for me if you're my employee. What's more important is that I like you." She could feel his frustration as he explained his side. "Am I not enough for you?"
