Necropolis of Heart

Chapter 1

Author's PoV

She ran out of the room and into her mother's room on hearing a clanking sound. "Mom! Are you alright?!" Her mother was lying on the floor, struggling to reach the jar of water kept on the side table of her bed. She rushed towards the jar and poured her a glass of water. After having the glass of water, she stopped panting and helped herself to lay on the bed. "Are you fine now?", her mother nodded in a yes. They went back to bed after a small conversation which included mainly jokes.

That night she had a nightmare.

...Sia...Sia...Sia... "Sia"

"Huh! What was that!", exclaimed Anna.

Anna's PoV (aka Sia)

"Did you have a bad dream, my child?", asked mom.

"Oh! Mom! What are you doing here? You should be resting!"

"Oh! I'm fine. I just wanted to talk to you."

"About?"

"Your father."

"Please mum. You know I don't like to talk about it."

"But how long are you gonna blame yourself for it? You and I both know that you weren't at the fault."

"I'll blame myself till eternity, if possible. I... I...", I stuttered.

"Shh! Don't say it anymore. Today, I want you to know about the truth.", she says.

"What do you mean?" I asked, surprised a bit.

"Your dad didn't die of an operation failure. The operation was successful. He..." mom hesitated.

"He what mom?"

"He was poisoned."

I gasped in disbelief.

"And why are you telling this to me now out of all times?"

"Because I've been hiding one more thing from you. From you and your father."

"What is that?"

"I..." she hesitated for the second time.
