Chereads / Pity Me / Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 8

Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 8

Go in, get educated, and get out.

Luna repeated in her mind every 10 seconds as she searched her suitcase for a suitable outfit.

She didn't know why but she unconsciously always searched for the color green. She always thought it suited her best.

After throwing out all of the clothes she found a deep green pleated skirt and paired it with a black crop top and - the only shoes she owned - black boots.

When she stood up and looked at the mess she decided to leave it and sort it out when she got back.

Satisfied that she finally had plans for after she came back, instead of wallowing in loneliness, she went to take a shower.

It was early October and the temperature had been dropping day by day,yet she still used cold water. It made all the worries inside her mind freeze up and made her think only of the cold water.

When she went to brush her teeth she decided to use hot water because she found cold hands to be the most annoying thing.

The steam from the water fogged up the mirror and she watched her blurry - almost unrecognizable - reflection as she brushed her teeth.

After she was done her hand without her knowing it went to wipe the mirror and she halted it just as it touched the mirror.

She let her hand stay on the mirror for a few moments and drew only two finger across the mirror only revealing her eyes.

Still blue. Still full of fear.

Before shooting one last glare at the big eyes in the mirror she walked out of the washroom and put on her clothes.

She went to sit on the sofa in the living room in front of the large flat screen, brushing her wet hair with her fingers.

She looked at the clock and it was only 6 am, meaning she still had 3 hours till her first class, her mobile pinged and Luna's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

'I' have a text?

She checked it and it was an unknown number but then again she didnt have a single number saved in the first place.

'Hey L, its your favourite cousin here, save this number. I cant believe you left without saying goodbye (be ready for a forehead flick the next time we meet) oh and you also left your dog here, I mean what kind of person forgets their own dog? (Get ready for two forehead flicks) Ill bring him around today in the evening, he seems to really miss you since he's been howling every day and night.'

Luna gasped and hit her forehead.

I cant believe I left Storm behind.

She instantly texted him back, her typing slow as it was her first time in years.

'Please feed him well, Ill wait for you at dinner time okay?'

She placed her phone down and sighed cursing at herself.

She looked around for the remote and decided to watch TV to get over the screaming solidarity of her surroundings.

She changed the channels casually, nothing grabbing her attention until she saw a headline on a news channel.

'Two women severely beat up for having short hair'

She scowled at the absurdity of the title and felt like killing the perpetrators after seeing more of the condition the woman were in, but as soon as the thought of killing came in her mind, fear came along with it.

You're not a killer

You're not a killer

You're not a killer

She shook her head vigorously and remembered Jaxx and how she left him behind to forget about the dangerous thoughts invading her mind.

Any thought was better than this one.

Figuring that staying in such a quiet place would only invite more of the past into her mind, she decided to walk to her university.

Uncle Changmin's excuse actually became true, Luna's university was just 7 minutes away by car and 20 minutes away on foot.

Even though her butler insisted otherwise, she walked with the car and her butler in it, trailing behind.

Korea University was huge, and she spent a whole hour exploring it and still there was a department left.

The uni was still empty except for the cleaning staff, and seeing some of the professors arriving she decided to go look for her class.

Just as she turned a corner towards her department's building a car – the same model as the one her uncle gave her – drove right in front of the entrance of the building and the driver got out.

He opened the backseat door and a tall guy with light brown hair got out.

I guess I'm not the only one who got here early, he must be new too.

The car drove away and the guy, instead of going inside, turned around and went to the garden parallel to the campus building.

There was a tall plant in front of Luna so he never saw her standing there, observing like a stalker.

He put his bag on one end of the bench and laid down using it as a pillow and closed his eyes.

Huh. That seems like a cool thing to do if you're early.

She thought and entered the building,

Maybe I'll try that someday, looks refreshing.

Luna stared at her surrounding and the people in it stoically like an AI, she observed and carefully assessed the way everyone socialized.

She put her earphones in but didn't turn the mp3 on - she had yet to see if it worked or not – and watched the students pouring in.

Orientation day had been 5 days ago, that's why everyone already had a friend or clique, and almost every person that walked in glanced at her once or twice, making her wonder if it was her eyes that made them notice her or something else, but she only wondered and refrained from interacting just yet.

She had sworn to be careful on who she befriended this time, hence the watching.

Literally every student was bouncing with energy, laughing, slapping, kicking, somersaulting, and Luna felt a pang of jealousy every time, albeit most people aspire to extraordinary, she just wanted to be almost if not completely ordinary.

And even though everyone was socializing as if they were all house mates, there was one guy that caught her eye, not because of how he looked, he had his back to her, but because of the very odd thing that he was doing that Luna saw no one else doing.

He went to every duo, trio and person in the class and talked with them, joked with them, laughed with them, much like a host mingling with every single guest at his party.

When he finally turned around Luna instantly recognized him as the guy from the garden.

He had slightly tanned skin, with soft eyes and a bright smile, she wasn't admiring or exaggerating when she ruled his smile as bright, he just smiled a lot with a perfect set of teeth showing and shining.

He continued to jump from friend to friend to and group to group and the one thing Luna found most vivid was that it didn't at all seem forced, he looked like he was actually good friends with them and they too genuinely liked him.

Luna lightly slapped her hand on the desk, satisfied when she figured him out.

He's like Little Finger from Game of Thrones.

She ruled him as the kind of person who pretends to be friends with everyone and then exploits their secrets.

Luna shivered at that.

And since he seemed very friendly she also credited him as Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl, but whomever his traits matched one thing was for sure, Luna didn't want to have anything to do with him.

In her mind she could already see him pretending to be her friend and when he would find out that she was arrested for murder, he'd tell everyone and just like always she won't be given the chance to explain and she'll be made into an outcast and they'll throw eggs and sewer water at her.

The horrid thoughts made her shiver again and she glanced in his direction to check if he was as far away from her as possible.

The professor walked in announcing 'Good Morning' and all the students shuffled to their seats.

Little Finger waved bye to his friends and visibly searched for a place to sit, he locked eyes with Luna and smiled, she quickly lowered her gaze and her eyes widened as she saw him in her peripheral vision walking towards her.

Please don't come over.

Please don't come over.

Please don't come over.

She dreaded and even thought of putting her bag in the empty seat beside her, but it was too late.

He placed his book on the desk and settled on the seat on Luna's right.

Shit
