After an exhausting service, both Luna and Yubi shuffled slowly to the staff room and plopped on the couch.
Luna began taking off her uniform and asked if Yubi wanted a ride home.
"No thanks, Ill take the bus. Im waiting for Tiramisu to swing by, I have something to ask him." Yubi replied closing her eyes and rested her head against the head rest.
"Even Han was talking about a recipe that Tiramisu gave him which he uses right now, Im actually really anticipating meeting him."
"Well the next time he comes, Ill call him inside to kitchen and you can meet him."
Luna told her okay and bid her goodbye. She was too tired so she took the car.
As she was scrolling through the selfies she and Yubi took, she felt the car stop. She looked up to see that a moving truck was blocking her house's gate.
"One second Miss, Ill ask him to move." Her butler said unbuckling his seat belt.
"No its okay, you can come inside with me while the driver waits for him to move."
When she got out of the car her eyes widened as she heard the familiar howls of a dog coming from not so far away.
They kept getting louder as she reached the door and she finally saw a husky sitting on the porch, his face tilted upwards as he whined.
She ran up to him, "Oh Storm Im so sorry for leaving you like that!" She tried to pet him but he growled at her and barked, warning her to stay away.
Retracting her hand she frowned, and sighed. The dog whimpered and turned around continuing his howling.
She turned to the butler, " Go to the supermarket and buy every flavor of dog food and the next time buy more of the one he likes."
"Yes ma'am."
She looked at Storm sadly one last time before opening the door and walking in.
The living room was scattered with random objects she didn't recognise so she had to carefully walk around them to get to the dining room from where she heard a man talking.
It was Jihoon and when she walked in he smiled at her and excused himself from the phone call.
He walked over to her and just when she thought he was going for a hug, he raised his hand and flicked her on the forehead.
Luna yelped and let out a soft 'ouch'.
"That is for leaving without seeing me first." He raised his hand and flicked her again and this time she hit his arm.
"And that is for leaving your dog behind."
She glared at him.
"Now come here and give your big brother a hug."
☾
"How was your first day?" Jihoon asked biting into a corndog.
"It was good, I even made a friend." She answered and frowned at the box of corndogs infront of her.
She forgot to tell the maid what to make for dinner so they had to order out.
"Oh stop it with the frowning and eat. Ill make you something as a midnight snack if you're hungry again."
Luna looked at him, "You're staying overnight?"
"Actually, Im staying forever." He grinned.
"Oh so the stuff in the living room and the moving truck outside is yours."
Jihoon nodded.
"Wait, is Uncle okay with this? He let you leave? Or did he kick you out?"
Jihoon resumed his eating, " I dont care if its okay with him or not. He shouldnt have sent you away."
"Jihoon its okay.." Luna muttered softly.
"No its not. You cant possibly live on your own. You're only 18!
Luna smiled, " Im stronger than most people you know."
"I know but that doesnt mean you dont deserve to be protected."
His words warmed her and she started eating before she could start crying happy tears.
☾
That night Jihoon couldnt sleep either, neither could the house staff, every one's sleep was disturbed by Storm's wailing.
So, that night Luna sat next to his kennel all night muttering apologies to him in between howls.
She apologised for being so selfish.
She apologised for separating him from his person.
And she apologised for not being there when she was the one who adopted him.
The next morning she dreaded going to class over an interaction with Haemin but he didnt bother her again, he did it again though, the mingling, the jumping from friend to friend but he didnt come to her except for a wave and his usual smile which she ignored.
And the next day and the next, Luna's interactions with Haemin minimalized while with Hyun they maximalized.
He would sit with her in the cafeteria, leave his friends to sit with her, he would walk her to class and sometimes till the door of Myungga Coffee.
That made her most afraid. She was afraid of having her trust shattered again, she was afraid of him, she was afraid of people.
