It had not rained ever since Luna had come to Korea so she went to the balcony to get more affiliated with the bright and sparkling weather.
She looked over to the fountain in the middle of the lawn and saw a small rainbow being made parallel to it, her mouth opened in awe.
Rainbows, the bonus part of rainy weather that only existed in the distant presence of the sun. How cool.
She turned to her head to the right and she could see the neighbors' lawn. Their sprinklers were on and there was a bird bath in the middle of it. Two Flycatcher birds flew around the lawn for a while and landed on the bird bath, checking around for any danger before stepping in the water.
Luna smiled at the sight but it soon dulled as she saw a tabby cat slowly closing in on them.
Oh well..
The cat pounced on the bird amd the other bird flew away quickly, fear imminent on its face.
The feline took the bird's small head in her mouth and moved her legs to tear its body apart. Luna grimaced.
Ok Mother Nature take a chill pill.
She turned to leave but whipped her head back when she saw a guy running out of the house in his pajamas towards the cat and the bird with a pillow in his hand screaming "Nooooooo!".
He hit the cat with the pillow and Luna shouted, "No! Let her have it now!"
But it was too late, the cat jumped, dropping the bird and ran away.
Luna gawked at the bird still flapping around, barely alive. She ran out of her house and went to the neighbors', ringing the bell.
She heard someone run up to the gate on the other side and when it opened she gaped, "You!"
Standing before her was Haemin Lee with a brazen demeanour.
She pushed past him running into the lawn and stood over the bird.
It was an absolutely bloody mess and the poor creature was still alive taking shallow breaths.
"You idiot you shouldve just let the cat have him!" She shouted at him her gaze still at the suffering bird.
"I couldnt just stand there and do nothing!" He shouted back.
"Its the circle of life, you're not supposed to do anything!" She glared, "Now look at him, hes hurting instead of dying a quick death."
Haemin looked at the bird with a guilt ridden gaze and Luna sighed.
"You have to kill him." She uttered.
"What?!"
"You have to end his suffering." She explained.
"How about we just take him to the vet." He said it as if talking to an insane person.
"Are you kidding me? Look at him. Hes not going to live long."
"Oh.." Haemin said softly and looked at the bird with sad eyes.
Luna felt bad for having to be the one to break it to him, but there was an annoying feeling in her chest that kept telling her to do something.
"Maybe I can do something." She uttered begrudgingly, already hating herself for getting into it.
"Go get a first aid kit and Ill go get some bread crumbs for him." She told him and he nodded his head hurriedly.
When they went inside the house, he directed her to the kitchen and went up the stairs himself.
Luna instantly spotted the bread basket and broke off a piece of baguette, crumbling it in her hand on the way back.
Haemin came up beside her and they both were running to the bird but just as they got there, another ginger colored cat picked up the bird in her mouth and ran off.
Both of them shouted "Noooo!" and ran after her across the lawn and through the sprinklers but she had already jumped on the wall and ran off to a place beyond their reach.
Luna plopped on the soft grass in exhaustion and Jaemin followed, she dragged her hand across her face and both of them sat there, only the sound of the sprinklers and their rapid breathing audible.
"I guess it was his destiny to be catfood." Luna joked trying to liven up the mood because Haemin looked absolutely devastated.
"You're not helping." He told her seriously.
"Hey, dont feel too bad for that bird, he's probably passed on already. Think of the cat whose breakfast you ruined." She scolded him "You hit her! And with a pillow? Seriously?"
"I had just got up and it was the only thing near me. Besides I never meant to hurt her, I just wanted to scare her off." He trailed off.
I cant believe Im at Little Finger's house trying to cheer him up... heck I cant even believe hes my neighbor!
"Nice pajamas." Haemin commented.
Luna looked down and saw that she was wearing pink pajamas with Pepe's face drawn all over them. She rolled her eyes.
Her uncle had sent a butler to get her clothes and necessities and he wasnt sure what an 18 year old would like so apparently this was what he came up with.
They were comfortable so Luna didnt mind much.
She looked over at Haemin's pajamas and scoffed, "Look who's talking."
He looked down and as if just now realizing what he was wearing, he instanly tried to cover himself with his arms.
His pajamas had the LINE character Ryan drawn on them and Ryan had heart eyes.
"These are just my backups and my other ones were gone for laundry! So this is all I had." He stuttered failing at making his lie believable.
She chuckled at his stuttering.
Cute.
Luna caught her chuckle and stopped smiling
Hold up. What is even wrong with me? This is Little Finger! I cannot be getting cozy with him!
She got up without saying anything and started to walk towards the gate.
"Luna, wait!" He called out after her.
Luna stopped and turned around, "How do you know my name?"
"The professor mentioned a foreign student on Orientation Day and told us your name."
After hearing this she turned and continued walking but he ran up infront of her and blocked her path, " Step aside." She said monotonously.
"Lets walk to the campus together!" He suggested.
Luna sighed.
This is my fault. I led him to believe we were friends now.
"Look whatever happened today doesnt change that I dont want to be friends with you okay?" She looked him in the eye, "Please forget about it."
She grabbed his shoulders and moved him aside walking ahead.
As soon as she was about to walk out of the gate he shouted out from where he stood, " You need to be careful with Hyun Lee. Hes not a good person."
Anger tainted her heart at his words, she was about to turn around and let him have it but decided that he wasnt worth it.
Just because his plans to exploit me didnt work, now he's going to attack Hyun? Huh what a Little Finger thing to do.
