Chapter 1 - The swordsman and the lost girl

"What a beautiful night." said Victor while relaxing under a tree under a bright night sky. It was night of a full moon, one did not even need a lantern on a street to see.

Two years. Victor was traveling from south for two years now, and now that he finaly reached the village he was hoping to find he laid down and took a break. His white shirt and long red and gold scarf gave of a wibe of a wonderer. The fact that he always had his sword by his side also helped. It was a long sword with a curved blade common among his people. His clothes however definetly weren't.

"I wonder. Is the city as beautiful as they say? Or is it just another smelly dumb like all the other cities in north. I'm almost starting to miss Laxorian desert here."

It was a quiet night. There was no one in sight so no one could hear him. His voice was being led by the wind into the unknown of the world around him, and yet it still sounded delighted.

Suddenly, out of nowhere Victor felt someone else's presence.

"Hold it! Don't make it harder for you!" shouted someone. His voice sounded old, but packed with experience.

"Like hell I'm going to that slut!"

That sounded like a girl. An injured girl. Judging by the huffs and puffs she produced. This girl was very short, with long dark hair and torn clothes. She ran into Victor, who stood by the tree but was unshaken by her. He looked at her from up close and realized that she was running from the for a reason.

"Hey you!" said a man who held a spear in his hands. The spear was long with insignia that reminded a sun. "Hand that woman to us."

"Hmm...." said Victor, "And why should i do that?"

"She is a wanted criminal." said the other person. He was holding a sword with the same insignia, however he also had a cloak of a bright golden color. They were definetly royal guard. Victor heard about them. A stubborn bunch.

Victor looked at the girl that was next to him and sighed. "And if I won't?"

It was at this moment that the two of the guards pointed their weapons at Victor. "Then we must treat you as another criminal. Solara's orders."

The girl looked like she just ate a lemon when she heard that name. So it was her who she was running away from?

"Look here, there is no need to be hasty here." said Victor lightheartedly. "I'm sure if we will all think about it, we can agree on a compromise."

"I see you've made your choice..." said the guard and then he charged at Victor. It was a quick charge that was definetly used by the guard very often when fighting criminals. Judging by the way the guard held his sword Victor knew that he intended on killing him with one quick slash. Decapitation.

Victor smiled and then came a loud sound, as if metal was torn in half and then a sound of a flesh being cut. The guard look Victor in the eyes, before his head fell on the ground around them. The sword that the guard held was cut as if it was made from grass. Victor held his own sword in his left hand as if he just took it out. However there was a little bit of blood on it. The other guy look at his comrades lifeless body drop on the ground and then look at Victor with anger and wrath in his eyes.

"The queen will have your head for this."

"This man wanted to get my head too. See how that ended for him. Will you be smarter?"

The spearsman launched at Victor with an impresive speed. He was no amateur and yet he was definetly leagues behind his comrade. So what does that make a man, who decapitated him with such speed, that there was no slash to be seen.

The head of the spear was nearing Victors heart. Victor didn't even defend him. There was no way he could have dodged this. The spearsman won. So why was he not going forward. He just needed to stab him and he will triumph.

"When you come to kill someone, you must also be prepared to be killed." said Victor with silent voice, as if it was a whisper to the spearsman. The head of the spear was touching Victors chest, and yet it didn't go further. The spearsman could make no logic about this. He the look down. There was a huge hole in his chest. Just where the hearth is. Well...was. The guard coughed blood and his eyes rolled back into their sockets. Victor then grapped his head and said something to him.

"Greet him when you get there." and then the guard dropped dead.

Victor without even a scratch put his sword back into the sheath and then turned around to see the girl. She looked as if she was happy, and yet sad. He saved her life, but also killed two men who were just following their orders. They probably had families and friends, and yet he killed them without even blinking. Without even a moment of regret. And what was that line 'Greet him when you get there?' Who is he going to greet? Death? Thoughts were running in her mind but then she calmed down. As if she was suddenly washed in a cold water.

"What do you want?" she asked while looking down.

"Huh?"

"You saved my life, i owe you for that. What do you want?"

"Well first of all. An explenation wouldn't be bad." he said while smiling cheerfuly.

The girl looked more annoyed then nervous.

"They were the royal guards. They are looking for me, because queen Solara issued an order, that i must be imprisoned."

"And why is that?"

"I-" she could only say that. It felt like there was a heavy boulder on her hearth and she could hardly say a word. How can she say something so vital and important to someone, who she just met. But something about this man was off. It felt like he didn't have any intention of harming her, and yet she could feel this coldness and ruthlesness when she was near him.

"It's okay." said Victor while lifting her chin. "You can trust me."

Those words echoed in the girls mind. As if he spoke directly into her mind. She now felt like she could count on him. She felt that if she would be hanging by the cliff, this man would come for her. Then she felt a huge chill running down her spine. How did he do that. They were just words, and yet they carried such weight to them. It was frightening...

But despite that, she spoke. "I was given these powers, I can manipulate space. Not like the stars and such, but I can open up portals, create distance and even erase things."

"And why didn't you use them on the guards."

"It's not that simple. I don't realy know how to use them. Nobody taught me anything other then the portals. They were taught by Vl-" she tried to speak, but she couldn't. What was the name she just wanted to say? She knew she knew it, and yet she can't speak it? Why? Was it always like that? Who ways that man anyway?

"Alright, you don't have to say much more. Just two questions. Ok?"

The girl felt realy scared. But she complied anyway.

"First: What is your name?"

The girl was suprised. "If i tell you mine, you will tell me yours ok?"

"Fine."

The girl sighed. "My name...is Snow."

"Snow...Snow who?"

"Just Snow, i have no surname, no parents, no one." it was sad, and yet Victor was still smiling. He was smiling this hole time? And she didn't even notice?

"Nice to meet you Snow. My name is Victor. Victor Velaestraz." he said with voice that somehow reminded Snow of sand. The boy even smelt like a burned sand. Where was he from? She wanted to ask but then he interpted her.

"And second question. This is the favor I want to ask of you ok?"

Snow listened. She was expecting anything. Money, information and even sex. But she was definetly not expecting this.

"I want you to teleport me into the royal palace."

Calling Snow suprised would be an understatement. "WHAT?!"
