Chapter 4 - The bird of prey

Victor was walking all around nearby villages. From one to another, yet he could not locate Snow. Or rather, sense her. There was something different about her aura that made Victor's hair stand up. After a full day of just looking for her he went to a nearby cemetery. Well, he rather walked inside without even realizing it. There was a raven sitting on every tombstone and statue there. And was it a number of statues. The cemetery was covered with fog and the night sky could only illuminate a very small portion of the graves, yet Victor could clearly see someone amidst those stones. It was hard to miss them realy. They were as tall, if not taller than Victor. They carried a weapon that looked like a giant scythe. But what was the strangest aspect of this person were two giant wings. Black as shadow and shaped like crow's or angel's wings.

"What brings you here?" said Victor, in a familiar tone.

"I could ask you the same thing." the person replied. A raven landed on their shoulder.

"I am looking for a girl, about half my size and she wears realy messy clothes."

"..." the stranger stood there, quiet.

"Now it's your turn. What brings a man such as yourself into this cryptic place." Victor tried to not laugh at this terrible joke.

"What a funny question..." replied the man. He almost sounded dissapointed. He then turned around and faced Victor.

They stared at each other, wind and silence was the only sound here. No word, not even the sound of leaves in the trees. Nothing.

Stranger's eyes were as blue as the sea. His hair however and his clothes were all black.

"I mean, isn't it normal for Death to visit the graves of those, who no longer walk among the living?" said the man in a realy calm and soothing voice. The raven on his shoulder then flew away. He joined the flock that started to form above this man.

"I guess you're right. But it's strange for you to not know who I am talking about. Also, to not know where she is? You are giving me more problems then...well you rather didn't solve any."

"Hehe" laughed the man amused. "You never change don't you Victor?"

"Why should I? You also didn't change at all from the last time I've seen you."

"No need for me to change...for I am always same for everyone. You on the other hand hold power that changes everything, and yet you only use it when necessary. Don't you make things harder for yourself this way?"

"Perhaps, but the bigger trial is..." Victor put his hand on his sword. "The better the experience is."

"This, I could never understand about you, not when we lived together, nor now."

"Tsk. Only shows how little attention you pay to your younger brother..."

The man smiled. The wind pushed some hair away from his face, so now his face was completely clear.

"Raven." Victor adressed this man. His brother, Raven.

Raven stood there, sort of amused but also in a hurry. He didn't have time to play some games with Victor, well Victor didn't have it. Raven then spread his wings and covered atleast ten tombstones because of this. Black feathers were then scattered across the space that was between the two brothers.

"Well then, I don't know where she is. But I guess, knowing you, you'll find a way." And he took to the sky. It was a swift take off. But with almost no sound. "We will meet soon, atleast i hope so..." then added Raven and just as he showed up, he dissapeared.

Victor smiled and looked into the night sky. "Now...where could you be, my little devil." he said to himself.
