"Look I know it's not in the norm to eat with servants, but how can I eat so much? I know I'm a glutton but this is just too much for me. It's not like we commited crime or anything. We are just going to eat together, and besides Everyone made an effort, we shouldn't waste it. At least take a break of being a servant and just be happy for once." Genevive reasoned with Sarah.
After saying that everyone felt in awe for the little miss. Everyone was thinking if this was really their old miss. She seemed to change after that incident. They invited every servant in the residence to eat but they could not fit in the dining room so in the end they ate in the back yard where it was spacious. It was like a sunset picnic.
The sun was starting to set and it had a glorious atmoshpere. Before, servants were really confused about what was happening but when they heard that the little miss was the one who arranged this, they chose to shut up. Suddenly the little miss apologized to them for her behavior before and said she would try to be better. They went in awe and servants protested against her said things like.
"You don't have to apologize little miss. We are servants it's our job"
"Miss we promised your father to always obey what you say."
"Young miss-"
Then after almost everyone had their protests, Genevive spoke.
"Whoa why is everyone protesting to me about me apologizing! Please stop it, or else I'll take back my words." She made a cute face that made everyone burst out laughing. The atmosphere now was very lively and pleasant. Genevive thought
'Such kind servants. You're very lucky Genevive'
They were all so happy that they didn't notice anyone.
Outside the residence, there was an elegant carriage. A Royal Carraige. Prince Gabriel somehow forgot something back there and went to get it back. It was the gift his great grandmother gave him. It was a precious necklace made out of a meteorite and diamonds. He took it off for once because he felt like not wearing it in this residence. There was a guard in the area, obviously and he was eating some weird looking pastry.
When the guard noticed the prince he immediately stood up and he wanted to alert everyone, but the prince stopped him.
There were noises in the residence. Like laughters. Lots and lots of laughters. The Prince got curious and went to the direction of the noise.
He was stunned at the sight of the servants having a lot of fun while eating those weird pastries along with Genevive. And they look extremely joyful.
'What is she doing? She shouldn't be eating with these servants!' Lucky enough the gardener asked Genevive the question the Prince wanted to know.
"Young miss, I may be bold to ask but, why did you invite us here? It's against the norm and you're even letting us eat these delicious pastries."
"Well actually I invited you all because, the chefs all wanted to learn what I was cooking in the kitchen. or baking. And well we made quite a lot so I invited all of you to join I can't possibly eat this all by myself. Second, I really wanted to apologize for my past behaviors and I felt guilty for being such a unruly young lady. And Lastly. For me it doesn't really matter when we follow the norm I just wanted you all to take a break following orders once in a while, and be happy. That's why I arranged this picnic. And If this go against the norm, I wouldn't care, to me we are all equals, servant or not we are still human beings, and I want you to live normally in this residence. Yes sure you'll still follow orders, but I want to ask my dad if we can enjoy picnics every sunset each friday." Genevive said and added a very sweet smile towards everyone. And by those sentences, everyones hearts were moved even the Prince's.
"Good afternoon Everyone.." The Prince said lightly but his tone was kind of scary. He slightly smirked seing so many flustered, shocked reactions written all over their faces. Some who were drinking almost spurted their drinks or dripped it accidentally on their faces.
"First-First Prince" Everyone stammered. Everyone bowed and no dare to raise their heads.
"Prince Gabriel." Genevive said. "What brings you here your highness?" Genevive Curtsied.
With that, The servants wanted to scurry away. but the prince stopped them.
"please, don't leave. Everyone please continue eating. Lady Genevive, can I speak with you for a moment?"
"Ahh.. Yes your majesty."
She followed the prince to the nearby garden where it was quiet.
"Lady Genevive, Why did you do that?"
"Do what your highness?"
"Servants are supposed to not get close with nobles. It is against the norm." Even if he heard her reason he wanted to make it clear to himself that those words she said were really her reason. Not some scripted speech she used just to gain the servants' respect again.
"Oh that..The rules doesn't technically say I can't eat with them right?"
"You're a noble, why would you ever want to eat with them?"
"Even if I am a noble Your highness, I see my servants as equals maybe not by title. But I see them equally as humans. "
"And what is that supposed to mean?"
'I thought you were an Intelligent person?' That was what she wanted to say but she held back.
"Your highness, What I mean is that if I can't treat the servants nicely because they are servants, I want to treat them nicely as humans. Even if we are ordering them around, I want to repay them. And there's nothing wrong with letting them eat good food, which they deserve right?" Genevive answered. The prince could see no ripple in those beautiful eyes. It was as clear as a river. She was telling the truth.
"So that really is your reason huh"The prince murmured. By that he became really convinced that she really changed.
"I beg your Pardon Your highness?"
"It never occured to me that you would make a move that go against the norm lady Genevive."
