Chapter 5 - Tragic affairs

Kayra was adamant. She wanted that smoke again! She knew if Kush were made aware of her craving, he would certainly get mad at her.

Although they were new to each other just a few months ago, the distance from their home made them come closer to each other. They did not know but they had started to look after one another.

This was evident that they cared for each other more than any casual friend would do.

Kayra hid her cravings from Kush not only to avoid his wrath but also to make him worry a little less about her.

Just after two days, her words fell apart. Kayra was in the club again. She kept looking around for people with smoke. She couldn't find the people she was looking for. She dare not ask around about them because that could mean inviting trouble.

She started walking towards the exit. Feeling let down, she was too occupied to mind her surroundings just when two guys approached her from behind.

'Looking for this?' asked one of them sticking out his hand in which he held the smoke.

She immediately replied 'Not really.' That was her defence mechanism which worked without a warning. She wanted to take back the words she just blurted out. 'I can try this though, if you don't mind it that is.' she tried her best not to come across as desperate.

The other guy chuckled and handed over the smoke to her from his fellow's hand. It was a process. Offering things people don't necessarily need in life. Creating a need for such trivial things in such a way that it becomes a necessity which is hard to life without.

That is what was happening to Kayra. Next time she visited the bar, she was asked a thousand bucks for the smoke.

They were watching her and waiting for their turn to strike. They knew two times was enough for her crave to be driven crazy.

She was in desperate need of the smoke. Although she came to the club after a couple of days from her previous visit. What she did not know was, a hunter never misses out on his prey. Kayra was the prey, she was on a watch.

She knew there is no such thing as a free lunch. She demanded more Intel.

She wanted to know what ever else there was about this smoke. Why her cravings couldn't be controlled? What made her come back despite Kush's warning?

Last time she came here, she was stoned until a worker came up to her to show her the way out. It was 4 a.m., the closing time of the club.

What was really interesting was that the smoke made her feel more relaxed and calm in a soothing way. She could rest her worries and be by herself. Nothing bothered her, her mind went numb rendering to a peaceful situation.

'I go by Raavie. If you have trouble finding me, tell any of the waiter or bartender and give them my name. You'll be able to find me.' said one of the guy.

He was the one who was holding the smoke in his hand earlier.

'Garry.' said the other one. He seemed a bit of mischievous, his eyes gave away though. His smile was that of a troublemaker, his eyes were innocent just like a child's face, he remained in Kayra's mind for a very long time.

She had purchased a smoke this time. She is free to take it home and enjoy all by herself. The only contradiction is, she doesn't want to come across as loner. She lit her smoke up and had another wonderful night. This time she danced her heart out.

Not that it concerns anybody, she hid this entire story from her colleagues.

Again at 4 a.m. somebody woke her up to send her home.

She made new acquaintances next time. Raavie and Garry took her to another floor which was restricted to other common folk in the club. This was the real party, everything was filled with the smoke, the smell that can make your head go dizzy instantly.

In all liveliness, she gave away her worries and drowned in, in the flavour of the night.

The next morning nobody came to wake her up. She was sound asleep till 1 in the noon. That is when she heard faint buzzing of her phone.

The horror of the unknown crept in. She did not know where she was. Or how she reached there!

In all confusion she picked up her phone only to be greeted by dozens of missed calls.

More than half of which were from Kush. In that panic state she dialled a number which according to her shouldn't have been dialled.
