Chapter 7 - The beginning of another one

The next few days in office went on with obvious awkwardness between the two. Kayra did not drink nor did she smoke. She didn't attend any gathering for that matters.

Kayra knew she has lost her way. What she was doing was not something which was going to help her introspect. She was unknowingly creating a habit. She refrained from caffeine as well in order to recollect her thoughts.

It was different from how she was. She didn't like absolute isolation nor abundance of people around her. She realised she didn't even like to go to parties as well. This was what she was doing in order to not feel left out all the time.

Whatever kinda of person she was, she was simple and honest with her feelings. Now she doesn't even remember what it feels like to be by herself. She isn't overly confused now like she was earlier. But, doing things in the nick of the time is also tiresome.

She figured she needs a balance between both of her personalities. A recollection of good old days brought tears in her eyes.

She was way too consumed by her thoughts when Garry and Raavie approached her. They have been watching every new customer who walks in. They keep track of their prey.

"We haven't seen you in a while" said Garry.

"Yeah, the night when you made a fuss over going home without giving us your address was a bizzare." added Raavie.

"We had to carry you to a friend's apartment. Since he's out of town, you could easily spend the night there. But, bear in mind that there is no next time." Garry blurted.

Atleast now Kayra was aware about the storyline from that night.

"Thanks for the help and sorry for being a burden." Kayra replied adding "Now if you'll excuse me, I've a place to be."

She can't bear to hurt Kush again. She knew if she's gonna stick around, she might want to get hold of the smoke once again. Therefore, she was seeking a way out.

"Well we did all of that out of good intentions, hope you don't misunderstand. Also, we're not here to follow you around, my friend Raavie is sort of into you and we were passing by when we spotted you. So, I was wondering if we can hang out together in a café?" Garry said all of that very politely.

Raavie gave a charming smile to which she couldn't refuse. Kayra nodded. She kept checking her phone in order to see an unread text or an incoming call so that she can excuse herself as soon as possible.

She was stupid to agree to join them. What can be done over the spilled milk now?

Just as she mentioned leaving, the duo would change the topic.

She somewhat felt the hostility from the duo. But couldn't just leave immediately.

"I figure you have somewhere to go, you keep checking your phone" said Raavie.

"Yeah, don't be like that. I'm enjoying myself!" added Garry. "You know what, we should hang out more often."

Raavie said in a reassuring tone, "Yes, I like it with you guys. Us - the trio."

Kayra couldn't dare disagree and hence nodded in agreement with a subtle smile she said, "Yes, let's do that. Now, I would like to take your leave."

"Hey, you didn't give us your number." prompted Garry.

"Yeah, how do you expect us to reach you?" Raavie exclaimed.

Kayra did nothing and stood there dumbfounded.

"Here, punch in the digits girl." said Raavie.

Kayra had no option left. She was bitten back by her own words. She showed no form of hesitation and did as told.

The duo got up to give her a hug and then just when she turned to take her leave, Garry again started something.

This was turning into an unending cycle of drama.

"Hey Garry, leave something for the next meeting." said Kayra before exiting the café. "I'll go now."

She kind of had negative vibes from these guys. She doesn't want to associate with them anymore. But, gave her contact details in the heat of the moment.

Their politeness on the other hand was very welcoming as though they really are trying to be good friends. One shouldn't judge a book by it's cover anyway.

Now that she has shirked the duo, she can head home and gather her thoughts.

She needs some serious introspection. Also, Kush is keeping his distance. It's not a very good situation. But, this chance can be utilised to redeem herself.

Either way, she heads home only to be greeted by a surprise.
