Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Yellow bobby print curtains flew with the wind's touch. Monday morning was chilly but today the weather had a little moist in it.

Cicil wore a perfect beige coloured pencil skirt that reached her mid thighs with a white blouse that fitted her perfectly and gave her curves a little domination.

Today was the second day of her job at the restaurant come hotel that was famous in St Wantaro, The Star Hotel. With high class service and high maintenance, it was just a place where famous personalities gather. The hotel wasn't old. The Star Groups made it just a few months ago yet it was flourishing with its customers.

She knew getting into a prestigious hotel meant, her career would flourished  as well and she was determined to work hard and show off her performance to the fullest to get a promotion in a year!

She left her room after tying her hair into a loose bun. Her simplicity could tempt a man although she never once thought of finding suitors as she had to struggle alone in the world. It would be a distraction and she was determined not to go into any of that. After her mother left her to go have some peace in the graveyard, she was alone.

She felt lost but she got herself to do everything on her own. Now, after earning her degree through a lot of struggle, she got a well paid job of a receptionist in a five star hotel, The Star Hotel.

She left her small bed room that was covered in dirt and jumbled clothes and well, her paintings. Before leaving, she looked at the painting she adored the most. It was her mother's painting. She looked very pretty in her white dress. Cicil painted it when her mother celebrated her birthday and as a present Cicil gave her a precious gift. She painted her mother's portrait and gave it to her.

Then she glanced at an old painting she had drawn when she was in eighth grade. The painting had no clearance about who it was but she had seen those raven eyes which conveyed a sleepy feature and had a pointed nose. While the person in the painting had an angry face, she knew he wasn't complete. She didn't have time now.

Besides, she could never draw him again. She had forgotten his face although that face remained within her mind and heart. It felt mysterious whenever she saw the incomplete painting of the man. A sigh left from her mouth.

She ignored her anxious heart every time she saw this picture as if it knew who it was but no matter how much she tried, she couldn't remember anything but those eyes. It was like looking deep into her soul.

She left her small apartment. It had only one bedroom, a small open kitchen with a dining cum drawing room and a bathroom. There wasn't much space in the apartment as she had to adjust everything in that nest.

She locked the door before heading toward her work place which was a few blocks away from Old Wood Square, where she lived. Her office was at in the middle of New Wantaro City and it was a thirty minutes walk from here. With car, a ten minutes ride without traffic. She could have gotten a car but walking was a good habit. Not that she was fond of it, she just needed to save extra money.

Her heels clicked on the floor of the corridor as she took a glance at her watch. She left early to take her time walking. The care taker was still asleep in front of the gate as she went pass him. This building had lower budget thus its security is low and the owner hardly came to check. She wanted to move to a good appartment but renting that would cost her more.

New Wantaro City was very costly to live especially the rents. The surrounding cities were a bit less costly but it was still out of her budget as she needed to save. Besides, Old Wood Square was near her work place.

Currently, she was saving her money to buy new colours, brushes and a canvas. A big one. Because she wanted to paint a big painting for an upcoming national contest. She knew it was hard to win, since artists, professional or beginner, all would participate in this and only one would win it out of that many participants. But she wanted to draw something that would touch people's heart.

Of course, the price money would be amazing to have since it is five times more than her payment and not to mention, after gaining recognition, she could start her own business. She wanted to build a paint gallery where famous or non-famous artists would submit their beautiful paintings. It had been a dream since her childhood but it wasn't simple.

Cicil walked out of the building as she came to her neighborhood. The narrow alley of it was dirty and people threw trash bins everywhere without any care for their neighborhood. They wouldn't even call anyone for cleanup and now the place smelt bad. Horrible even.

The appartments were all old and needed maintenance but due to its low budget, immigrants like her could live in this expensive city.

She finally reached the main road of New Wantaro and kept walking. The city still hadn't woken up fully as only a few cars and some pedestrians walked by. If she had come after 10a.m. it was impossible to miss the crowd of vehicles.

She crossed St Wantaro Bridge, thoughts from various sources coming to her mind. She needed to do some bookings today and needed to check the customers' lists. She checked her official mail and she had already gotten her task.

As her mind was occupied in her own world, she bumped into a rock hard chest when she lost the grip on her phone and it fell on the ground along with the person's file cases.

"Oh, I am so sorry," she apologized immediately and without looking at the stranger, she bent her knees to grab those files and her phone. She bit her lip in embarrassment but luckily the bridge didn't have many people. One or two cars passed by but they were minding there own business.

She took everything from the ground but the person didn't even help. He stood still towering over her while she collected his files and put it in his case. Although she never complained, still she felt a little disappointed toward the stranger. Well, city people did have so much pride in them and something as simple as apologizing would hurt their ego so, she didn't expect anything from the stranger as she stood up.

"There you go," she said as she handed the case to him and the man almost snatched it away from her hands as if she was going to run away with those.

"You should watch where you are going," the man said with a harsh voice as she froze. His voice hinted anger? Annoyance? Or maybe both and she didn't expect that.

She was the one who helped him and he didn't even do anything, not even one sorry or a thank you instead he was throwing tantrums. She was a little agitated as she looked up with angry gazes. She thought she would give him a piece of her mind.

It was the first time, she looked at the stranger as a little gasp left from her mouth and her angry gazes were replaced with shock.

Those raven Black eyes from her eighth grade was staring at her. The same ones she had drawn on her unfinished canvas.
