Cicil stretched her back as exhaustion sipped out of her. She didn't have any idea that despite of being an expensive hotel, the Star Hotel always gets many customers and all of them were elite members. Most of them came to stay and the rest were to have breakfast or lunch.
She had been working non stop as customers after customers came, not to mention, she saw many actor and actresses and well known business personalities that she had ever seen on the tv. She couldn't feel more glad to see the stars from this close.
"Now, I can finally die peacefully," Cicil said releasing a sigh.
"Please, don't die now." The girl beside her, Gia told, "Otherwise the workloads will fall on me."
Cicil pouted. "And here I thought you were thinking of me."
Gia gave her a look.
"Alright, I am going for my lunch. After half a hour later, you go take yours when I come back." Gia said before leaving and went behind the hotel. They had a small cafeteria at the back of the hotel only for their staff members.
Apart from their lunch schedule, Cicil liked everything about the hotel. The staffs were all good and helpful. Most of them were busy to work so they don't chat that much but they don't do useless chatting behind anyone's back. Cicil worked at a diner before and that experience was pretty bad.
Although she wanted to get along with other workers apart from Gia, staffs weren't allowed to go together to enjoy the lunch as the desks can't be left empty. Same goes for the other departments. They all had a schedule to follow and they were bounded by it.
Cicil had done all of the bookings and reservations and now there wasn't any customer. So, she let her mind drifted to her painting as she still could not think of a good scenario for her competition. She nibbled on the pencil as a knock came on her desk.
"How may I—" she halted as she saw it was Chase in a deep blue tux while a file case hung from his hands. It seemed he was leaving for a meeting.
"That is not very nice to space out while you are working." He said and Cicil had to agree but the competition was around the corner and she barely had an idea what to paint. She badly wanted to participate.
"I am sorry..."
"You should be," Chase bent a little as he supported himself on his hands and towered over Cicil's desk. "Because the way you treated me in the street, I should have been more hostile toward you."
"Wh—what do you want?" Cicil asked warily.
There was a glint in his eyes and it made her feel a bit uneasy as negative thoughts ran into her mind. Was he going to complain the management? If he did that, her career would be ruined even before starting.
"Let's see..." He thought for a moment, "Maybe an apology would have been nice..."
Cicil was about to apologize when he began, "but since you totally insulted me and called me a jerk, only an apology wouldn't be sufficient."
Cicil froze. Did she really call him a jerk? She should have called him the jerk-est of all the jerks.
"So—so, what are you planning? Exploit your influence and report the manager?" She asked almost angrily.
He smirked, "Sounds nice."
She clenched her fists and her belly tumbled with anger. All rich peoples were the same!
"You—"
"Be careful with your words." An evil smile played on his lips as he threatened, "Considering what you are about to say now, I can easily snap your job."
Cicil's heart thumped in her ears and she felt the ground shook beneath her feet. She knew she had no power and the man was their customer. If she spilt any bad word, it would back fire her.
"Keys."
"Wha—" for a moment, Cicil thought she heard kiss but when the hotel's keys jingled in his hands, she said, "Of course, sir."
She took it and Chase was gone even before she blinked.
She had been acting like nuts whenever that man came around. She was angry and she couldn't help but feel extremely cautious and scared. Was this how her whole week going to be?
She took a few breathes. Fine! Just a week. For the sake of her career, she would do it! If Chase came to provoke her again, she would just ignore him.
She looked back at the screen of her computer and a thought came to her mind. Chase Wellington was the name, eh?
She couldn't open the web on the desktop because each of their movements are captured into the hotel's system files. If they used some other sites or even social media, the security department would know in a second and would complain the manager. She looked around and when she found no one was around, she took out her phone while pretended to watch the computer screen. There was a security camera before them and using a phone during working hours wasn't allowed unless it was an emergency.
She opened the web search and typed 'Chase Wellington'. From instagram to facebook, every details on the man came out in a second and including many photos of him. In all photos, he was in suits as if he was born with those suits.
Now she was really curious who was he. If he was that famous, how come she didn't have a clue? No wonder he was mad when he said 'You seem like you don't know me'. Of course, she didn't!
He even had a wikipedia on him. She opened it and saw, Chase Wellington was the current owner of the Wellington group of industry after his father retired and held 65% share. He had tied up with world's leading companies and his family business ran many kinds of other businesses along with their main business which was hotels and multiplexes. He had been expanding his business throughout the glove and the Star Group was his latest business branch that had over 200+ hotels all over the glove.
She halted.
The Star Group?
Cicil looked at the computer and on their official website in bold Golden letters, it was written 'The Star Group'.
A gasp escaped.
She was working in one of the Star group's hotels! On the other hand, it meant that Chase Wellington was her boss's boss!
And it also meant that she called her boss a jerk. She even insulted him in a broad daylight on the street. Although there weren't many people around so there was no witnesses but it was still an insult.
She bashed her head on the desk in frustration when Gia came back and asked, "Did someone die or what? Why are you banging your head? You'll ruin the desk."
"Gia, did you know that Chase Wellington is our boss?" She asked her desk-mate with teary eyes.
"Everyone knows that." Gia said as she took her seat and looked at Cicil's pale face. "Apart from you, I guess? What happened?"
"I—I may have called him a jerk..."
Gia nodded and said, "Oh well, it had been nice working with you for only two days."
Cicil gave her a look. "Don't make fun of me!"
"I am not. If you have called our boss a jerk on his face then sayounara."
"What's with this japanese word?"
"Can't help being an anime addict."
Cicil sighed and stood up to have her lunch. As she took her phone, her eyes fell on the town name Chase Wellington used to live. Then her eyes followed down to the school name and another gasp left from her mouth.
Because they were all the same as her town and her school. Which meant Chase Wellington was the first crush she had in her eight grade?
