Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Cicil went to the cafeteria and sat as she ordered her usual hamburger and fries while scrolled through the screen on her phone. She needed to know everything about Chase.

She looked through his instagram but it wasn't an original one. A fan made account dedicated to Chase. It had random captured shots too. Whoever had taken the pictures was good at stalking at least. There were pictures of him when he was either watching his wrist watch or looking at his laptop in a cafe shop. Same goes for his facebook. It wasn't original.

She looked through his twitter account and it was full of only business promotions or tie up announcements. No personal topics or anything. It was as if he didn't like to let people know about his personal life.

She searched the news and articles, and interviews, there was nothing on his personal life. Only business, business and BUSINESS.

"What a business freak...!"

"Here, ma'am, your order." The girl from the cafeteria came with her food as he snapped off her phone. Cicil gave her a nod as the girl left.

Cicil looked around and found no one was around. She didn't want anyone to find out that she was stalking. Well, not stalking more like investigating.

Alright! She was just a tiny, very, very tiny bit curious if he was a bachelor or taken.

It wasn't like she was interested in him anymore because it was just a childish crush and she didn't even let anyone know about it. So, she was safe. No witnesses, no proof.

But still her heart failed to listen to her mind when a tuxedo wearing photo of Chase looked at her from her phone.

Those were the cold, distant eyes she used to watch from afar. She wanted to paint him in her canvas and forever wanted to cherish it because she always knew Chase Wellington was beyond her reach. Even now. He was a famous personality and she was nobody.

She turned the screen off and ate in silence as her mind played the previous memories when she used to peek at him. She wanted to cry because her first impression was ruined and she was still angry at him for being a jerk. Now that she knew he was the same man, she was biased what with her feelings.

She paid the cafeteria with the staff voucher and went back to her desk. She sighed and sat on her chair.

"Manager came by and he was looking for you," Gia informed.

She nodded and then snapped her head at Gia in a lightning speed. "What!"

Cicil's belly knotted in a tight knot. Why was manager looking for her? Did Chase complained? Wait, he was the boss, why would he complain when he could have fired her instantly.

Or wait! Did he find out that I was using phone during my working hours?! She thought panicking.

"Wh—why was he looking for me?" She asked, her voice cracking.

Gia shrugged, looking a bit sluggish. "Who knows."

Cicil took the land line and typed the number of the manager's office land line. "Sir, were you looking for me?"

"Yes. After half a hour, come into the office room." His voice sounded too serious and she was too scared to ask what happened.

"Yes, sir," she said as the line disconnected.

Cicil gulped.

Her hands froze but a few customers came by so she diverted her attention toward them while handled them without letting them see her emotions on her face. Each passing seconds felt like reminding her of the doom which was about to come. Her heart felt like it would jump out any moment and soon the time stopped after a hour.

She stood up, gathering her courage, Cicil went to the manager's office. She had made up her mind that she was going to get fired.

She knocked on the door as the manager said, "Come in."

Taking a deep breath and letting it out, Cicil entered. The room was neat and clean, a fragrance lingered in the air while their manager sat on the comfortable chair with an angry yet grim face. Her feet now felt like jelly and her hands shook as she clenched them against her skirt.

"Yes, sir? You called me?" Her voice came out weak.

If she lost this job, it would take her a month or two to get another one and if Chase made the decision to fire her then there was no choice another hotel management would recruit her.

Although she had some little savings to last her two-three months but it was the savings for her future.

"Why did you book a normal room for Chase Wellington?" He asked with a calm voice but Cicil could sense the anger in it.

"Wh—what do you mean?"

"You do know what do I mean by that!" Now his voice raised as she stumbled back in shock. Nobody had ever shouted at her like that, especially in her working place. She had been very sincere in his work. My heart pumped in my ears.

"I should have watched your background carefully. You got your degree with a low profile collage and yet I selected you because you were excellent at your job." He said as he shuffled the papers on his desk and now tears brimmed on her eyes.

Yes, Cicil barely had money to survive so she had to enrol at a normal collage to get my degree. Because without a degree, no one would give me a good job.

"B—but sir, what did I do?" She asked swallowing her tears. There was her pride stopping her to cry because she knew she didn't do anything wrong. Other than checking phone during working hours, that is.

"What did you do wrong?!" He growled as Cicil clenched my fists against my skirt tightly.

"You made Chase Wellington to stay in a normal class room where he should have been staying in his vip room, top floor."

Shit! I had no idea that there was a vip room for only Chase Wellington. Besides, I didn't know that he was our boss. She thought to herself but it was too late.

"I—I had no idea that Chase Wellington was our boss."

"You didn't know? Everyone knows that! It is his building!"

Cicil could feel her lips quivering as she slumped down her head.

"Everyday we get news on Chase Wellington and yet you don't even know him!" He mocked as he spread his hands in the air.

But Chase had never mentioned her while booking for a room. But then why did he even come for a room booking when he could have gone to the room instead. Because the keys the receptionists had, they were all for only normal to gold class rooms. Not a single vip keys were with them.

Cicil was about to say that when he said, "I can't believe it! How could I recruit such a dense receptionist with no brains or beauty."

A few tear drops left from her eyes and he shouted, "You are fired! Get out of here!"

Cicil's whole body froze and the ground beneath her perished in a whim.
