[Elisberg City]
"Madam, you can leave. The boss doesn't want to see you at the moment." The security guard sighed when Angella did not move. She had been standing outside the mansion for almost an hour with a hope of meeting Logan, her fiancé.
No, her ex-fiancé.
"She is there isn't she?" Angella scoffed when the guard did not say anything. His silence was enough for her to understand that her so-called fiance wasn't alone in the house. He was with his side-chick.
Her eyes teared up in pain and betrayal. But she tried to stay strong, she had to stay strong.
"I want to see him once," she demanded.
She wanted to see the man she gave her five loyal years to. Was that too much to ask for?
This time the guard did not turn her down. He gently nodded and picked up his intercom. His heart also ached for her. He had known her since she started dating his boss five years ago. She had always been kind to him and all his colleagues.
Ten minutes later, the guard opened the main gate.
Logan Fredrick walked out of the mansion with a woman in his arms.
Angella looked at them and scoffed as her heart clenched with the pain of betrayal. The man she loved for five years had proudly chosen another woman over her.
"Angella, what are you doing here?" Logan took a step towards her but was stopped by the woman standing beside him. He looked at her and sighed before placing his hand over hers.
"You should go," he told Angella who was staring at the woman standing behind him.
"Can I at least know why?" She wanted to know what compelled him to end their five year long relationship in a blink of an eye.
Did he suddenly decide that she wasn't good enough for him or his love for her disappeared overnight?
Did he even love her? Was he pretending for the past five years?
Lucas did not say anything. He just stood there waiting for her to leave.
"You know how stubborn I am, I won't leave until I know why." Angella wanted answers. She wanted to know why he had betrayed her.
Was her love not enough? Did she not show him enough affection?
Was there something this woman could offer that she couldn't?
As several questions clouded her mind, she looked at the woman in her ex-fiances arms and scoffed.
"Oh Ruby, you are good," Angella exclaimed mockingly.
"Angella, I—"
"Oh save it," she interrupted her. "You can save the explanation for your father."
Ruby bit her lower lips as her eyes filled with tears. She then looked at Logan with a hurtful expression. "Logan, I told you I shouldn't be here."
"You are where you should be." He kissed the top of her head. "Don't worry about your father, I will talk to him."
The way Logan was treating Ruby was like a stab on Angella's chest. She couldn't take it anymore.
Why was she standing in front of a man, begging for answers when he didn't even bother about her feelings?
Interrupting Logan who was busy soothing his side chick, Angella said, "Well, it seems like you are very busy. It's better I leave.
"Goodbye Logan." She looked at Logan for one last time before leaving for good.
...
[In the car]
As soon as she entered the car, Angella broke down into tears.
The man she had loved for five years had tossed her aside like she was nothing.
She tapped chest in an attempt to make the pain go away but that somehow made her feel worse.
Without saying anything, the chauffeur handed her a tissue.
"Thanks," she said as she accepted it.
"Some people are not worth crying for," he remarked. "Sometimes you have to just accept the truth and move on thinking it was for the best."
Angella nodded as she wiped her tears away. "I will probably take some time but I'll be fine."
"I am sure you will," he smiled. "Should we go?"
"Uncle Jerry, are you not going to see Ruby?" She asked.
"She is dead to me," Jerry started before driving away.
