Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Assana woke up feeling refreshed. The stress that she felt yesterday has completely washed away, leaving in its wake a peaceful and relaxed feeling. Not only that, but she had already implanted in her mind her decision. She was already too determined to back down.

Not trying to make the same mistake as last time, she put on some comfortable yet presentable clothes and let her hair down. She walked down the stairs with her phone on her hand. Texting Ahe, she entered the kitchen and there was already food waiting for her.

Sienna placed a plate full of food on the table and motioned Assana to sit down. Sighing, Sienna took her gloves off before sitting in front of her daughter.

"Assana, dear… are you sure about this?" she asks, the feeling of sadness slowly growing deep within her. Assana knew this conversation was coming and she looked at her mother dead in the eye.

"Mom, I know you want to protect me and I really appreciate it. But this is a really great opportunity for me and I want to use this to become more independent."

Determination began oozing out of Assana as she stared at her mother. Like she already stated, this was an excellent opportunity for her to grow and become a better person. Since this school also offered a wide variety of courses and things to learn, it helps the person choose which courses passions them the most.

Also, everyone is able to apply as long as you fit the requirements necessary. Even if they accept any kind of person, there are many people that are also fighting for their spot. This fact is emphasized greatly on the pamphlet that she was given, making her feel slightly uncomfortable. However, after remembering that both Ahe and herself were specifically chosen, all her worries disappeared.

After seeing how unwavering Assana was about her decision, Sienna couldn't help but smile, her little girl was indeed growing up to be a young and independent lady.

A few hours had passed and unease began growing deep within her, but Assana still managed to control herself. She couldn't let this opportunity pass by because of her doubts.

Ahe had just arrived and immediately sat beside Assana. "So, are you ready?" he asked her while smiling. He wasn't having second thoughts about the decision that they had just made like Assana was.

No matter the circumstance, whenever Ahe set his mind to do something he does it, no matter how cowardly he is. This was an attribute that made Assana deeply respect and look up to her best friend.

Assana was someone that always tried to make others happy, even if what she did ended up hurting her or slowly make her forget who she truly is. Her opinions on things are always based upon the opinion of others, and Ahe has mentioned this for quite a while. It doesn't matter if what someone is saying is wrong or if Assana's opinion is different, she always tries to make them feel understood by "sharing" the same opinions.

This bad habit is extremely dangerous. Not only did this make her personality change depending on who she's with, but it also made her forget what she truly thinks about a certain topic in the first place.

Shaking away her thoughts, Assana returned Ahe's smile and nodded. His feelings of coolness despite the situation calmed her down and assured her that this was the right decision. Their futures aren't written on a set of stone, but she can get herself a well-paying job and she won't have to worry about money that way.

A knock was heard at the door. Was it, perhaps, Amos and Joash? Rushing towards the door, Assana looked back to see her mother and best friend wearing an excited yet nervous grin on their faces. She composed herself before opening the door.

The three nervous yet excited people inside the house were expecting to see the old man and Joash, but they instead they were greeted by the sight of Joash. His eyes were still hidden by his hair and he wore the same uniform as yesterday.

"I'm extremely sorry, but Amos wasn't able to make it here today," he said with a small smile as he slowly walked inside.

"May we sit?"

Sienna swiftly dashed inside and placed the couches in a comfortable position so that everyone could easily see the other people present. Joash sat close to Sienna while Assana sat with Ahe.

Joash took two pieces of paper and placed them on the table before turning to look at Assana and Ahe. "If you truly wish to apply, then sign these papers. You also need your parents' consent."

Sienna nodded at her daughter, silently telling her to sign the paper. Then, she signed it and gave it back to the mysterious boy.

Ahe looked over at Joash, feeling conflicted. "I already received consent from my mother, but she won't be able to sign this since she's at work."

His mother had divorced his father when he was 5 years old. She is an extremely hard working mom and only thinks about what decision is best for her son. In order to be able to gain the money necessary to maintain both herself and Ahe, she had to work far away from home. This is one of the reasons why Ahe spends so much time at Assana's house. Despite this, she always visits during the weekends and spends as much time with Ahe as possible.

Ahe had informed his mother about the offer, and she happily gave consent. However, she already left for work and she wouldn't be able to come back and sign her consent in the next few days.

"There's no need to worry. You can give her a call and make her give her consent." Joash said, already prepared for any circumstance that would arise. Amos had prepared him well for this, and that thought made him wince.

Not noticing Joash's sudden change of expression, Ahe gave his mother a call and was able to receive approval. He turned to look at Assana excitedly and smiled. A new chapter of their life was about to be revealed, and he can't wait to unveil all of the mysteries that will arrive.
