After being shown the entire school, Amos took Assana and Ahe away from the rest of the students. This action was a bit weird especially since he observed his surroundings as if making sure no one was around.
"Come quickly. There is something I must show you."
Assana and Ahe could only meet each other's gaze worriedly before following Amos to a room that was separated from the rest of the school. The cracked walls were covered in thick vines and exquisite, peculiar flowers. These flowers were all different in color and had their own special characteristic that made them all stand out. However, there was one small and frail flower that managed to capture the young girl's attention.
Amos stared at the small building hesitantly. He turned to look at the children and smiled. "Both of you should pick a flower that speaks to you the most. Take as much time as you need, there's no rush."
As if in a trance, Assana and Ahe began walking up to the structure before parting ways, trying to find the flower that spoke to them. Ahe was a bit confused about what was happening, but he still tried to focus as hard as he could. Assana, on the other hand, was a bit more relaxed despite the situation. They were both taken by the headmaster to a secluded area where no other student has come. What was the meaning of all this?
Assana approached the flower that had caught her interest before and gently stroked its soft petals. The small flower was colored black. Such a strange color for a flower, Assana thought to herself as she kept admiring the small blossom. She moved the black-colored flower towards the sun and an impressive array of colors flowed out of the blossom like a stream of water.
She gasped loudly as she admired all of the colors. Red, green, and different types of blue were all that she could comprehend at the moment.
"Hey! You okay?" Ahe was able to hear Assana and he began to grow worried, fearing that something bad had happened to her. She looked at him excitedly while showing the flower that she picked out of the thick vine.
"Can you see all of the beautiful colors?" she asked as she once again put the flower towards the direction of the sun, seeing all of the colors flow naturally.
However, Ahe wasn't able to see the hidden beauty of this small flower. He simply stared at Assana, feeling a bit confused by her enthusiasm.
"I don't see anything. Are you sure you're okay?"
"Of course I am. Can't you see how the colors appear when I place the flower towards the direction of the sun?"
Ahe shook his head and snickered. He was finally convinced that Assana suffered from brain damage. Not wanting to remove Assana's bright smile, he simply told her that he had to search for the flower that spoke to him. She understood and nodded at him before walking over to Amos.
"I picked the flower. What now?"
"Place the flower on the hole of the door. If you're worthy enough, it'll open and reveal its secrets to you."
Placing the flower gently on the hole, Assana hoped and prayed that it opened for her. The curiosity she felt about what was behind those doors was killing her. After much wishing and praying, a small creaking sound was heard.
Assana looked back at Amos and he nodded, silently telling her that she should go inside the mysterious building. In all honesty, he would've never thought that the door would ever open. Ever since he built this school, that small building has been there and he didn't have the heart to destroy it. Whenever new students were accepted, he took the most peculiar yet capable students and took them here, silently hoping that the door would open.
However, Amos had lost faith long ago, but this became some sort of tradition to him. Seeing the door open for this girl was something that filled him up with delight. Maybe this would teach her something of use.
Slowly walking inside the dark room, the door behind her shut itself. Assana tried opening the door but it was no use, it was locked tight. Maybe if she went deeper into the room then perhaps the door will open on its own.
There was no source of light inside the dark and desolate chamber. Everything felt cold, too cold. It reminded Assana of what she had dreamt a few days ago. She felt shivers run down her spine as she kept walking aimlessly, not really knowing in which direction she was heading.
All of a sudden, torches began to light up with a small and delicate flame. The fire looked as if it was about to give up given to how weak it was, yet it continued to shine and light up the room slightly. With each step Assana took, another torch lit up. Walking down a dark passage felt like an eternity, even if it only took a few minutes.
In the middle of the room was a glass container that was filled with smoke. "What is this?"
After closer inspection, Assana was able to tell that this was the peculiar mist that had caused an uproar. She knew that it was real! She also knew that she wouldn't forget such an important memory. However, why was Ahe lying about this? Is it that he doesn't remember?
Knowing what this haze had caused her and her friend, she decided against releasing it. Assana wouldn't risk her own life because of simple curiosity. She won't act like those indestructible protagonists that can survive anything and everything.
Walking around the trapped fog, she found a dull gray egg. This intrigued Assana. Amos was never able to open this room, yet it had medium sized egg hidden in a far corner of the room. She doubted that it was still alive, but Assana wanted to take it with her as a memento. On the other hand, wouldn't the egg be decomposed by now?
Shaking these thoughts away, Assana walked closer to the egg confidently. Gently placing her hand on its hard shell, she felt something crawl up the arm she was touching the egg with. Despite wanting to remove her hand, she stayed still. Assana felt a strange connection with the egg, but she simply doesn't know how it happened.
Her eyes changed colors from dark brown to blue. She closed her eyes tightly, feeling her head hurt. Her eyes turned back to its original color, but her body felt weak. She took the egg with her and hid it within her clothes as she rushed towards the exit while stumbling a few times. Thankfully, the door was open and she was able to come out.
Once feeling the warmth of the sun and seeing both Amos' and Ahe's worried expressions, she fell unconscious.
