Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

After getting everything organized, Ethan told everyone that it would be a good idea to head out to the cafeteria to eat and meet other students. Ahe had wholeheartedly agreed, but Assana and Loki seemed to be a bit more apprehensive about this. They were still adjusting to the idea and structure of this school and they would rather stay and rest than to go out.

"Come on! There's no time like the present!"

Ahe took Assana's and Loki's hand and began dragging them towards the cafeteria alongside Ethan. Assana huffed in annoyance while Loki stared at his hand that was intertwined with Ahe's. A slight blush began to form as he counted from one to ten, trying to dispel the feelings he was currently feeling.

After revealing his sexual orientation to other guys, they all kept their distance. They always felt a tinge of nervousness knowing that Loki might be in love with them, even if it wasn't the case. However, this boy… isn't he afraid if other people misjudge his actions?

Finally arriving to the cafeteria, the small group sat down on one of the tables and began to converse among themselves. The most talkative out of the group were obviously Ethan and Ahe since Assana spoke just a few times and Loki still hasn't said anything.

Ahe looked at his new group of friends and smiled. He has already found amazing companions alongside his best friend. What else could he possibly ask for? Nonetheless, the fact that Loki was still closed off affected him greatly. Was he doing something wrong?

This thought quickly went away as the group began to decide on what to get. Afterwards, Ethan stood up to get what everyone ordered.

While Ethan went to look for the food, Ahe turned to look at Loki and began talking to him. Unfortunately, Loki didn't give him short andswer and didn't help continue the conversation.

A few minutes had passed and Ethan still hadn't arrived with the food. A beautiful girl with golden locks and blue-green eyes approached the table where they were sitting at. She completely ignored Assana's curious gaze and simply walked towards Ahe with a bright smile on her face.

There was another group of girls that were staring at the blonde girl giggling. This reminded Assana of a high school cliché…

"Hey, I'm Amanda. What's your name?" she asked while displaying her lively smile once more. Her blonde hair framed perfectly her small face and pink cheeks. Ahe observed her from top to bottom, almost knowing her intentions. Amanda felt proud as Ahe observed her body, her head filling up with inappropriate thoughts.

"I'm Ahe. What do you want?"

Loki turned to look at Ahe in shock. He never knew that he could be so frank with other people. Noticing his confusion, Assana inched closer to him.

"He always turns like this when girls try flirting with him. Don't worry, he doesn't like girls," she said with a smirk on her face, thinking that he felt jealous. Loki glared at her. It seemed as if she misunderstood his feelings.

Amanda felt Ahe's indifference towards her, but she didn't let her feelings show. Catching this prey will be much more fun, especially if he plays hard to get..

"I just saw you from afar and I instantly knew that I wanted to be your friend. Is that okay? Maybe we can grow closer and end up as best friends."

"I'm okay, I already have my friends and I wouldn't want to leave them behind," this answer completely ticked Amanda off and she almost let her mask slip, but she quickly regained her composure.

However, she wasn't aware that she just insulted Assana. Assana icily glared at Amanda, but she didn't notice it. She kept staring at Ahe's beautiful and enchanting face.

She placed her hand on his shoulder and slightly rubbed it. "Don't worry. Your friends are my friends. I'm sure we will all get along!"

"I'm sorry, but I won't be friends with someone as hypocritical as you. Now, can you leave? Our food hasn't even arrived and I'm already losing my appetite. I'm sure Ahe's best friend, Assana, feels the same way. Right?"

Loki's sudden confidence stunned both Assana and Ahe. Ahe smiled at Loki, finally feeling that Loki wasn't ignoring him. He just wasn't fully comfortable around them. Amanda, on the other hand, only felt annoyed by the sudden interruption.

Assana finally caught up on Loki's intentions and smirked. "Oh yes. What was your name again? It doesn't matter, I won't even remember it. Just leave. Can't you see how much you're annoying Ahe?"

Amanda still wasn't smart enough to get the message and scoffed. He's just playing hard to get, right?

"What's going on here? This is the first time Loki actually said a full sentence!"

Loki glared at Ethan's ignorance and simply rolled his eyes. It was true, though. He was a person of a few words and would rather head straight to the point than to beat around the bush. The fact that he just spoke up to protect his friend warmed up Ahe's heart.

Ethan had arrived at the perfect moment and he was now going to be able to watch the most interesting part of the scene unfold. Ahe looked into Assana's eyes and nodded, silently giving her a message that held a very special meaning. A smile began to form slowly on Assana's face as she stared at Amanda. It was quite the creepy sight.

"Can you please leave my best friend alone? Can't you see that he doesn't swing that way?"

Amanda froze. She had been hitting on a gay boy all along?

"That's impossible! He might be confused for all you know!"

Her sweet facade was finally revealed. Her once bright blue and green eyes were now dull and filled with anger and frustration. The upbeat smile she had been displaying slowly broke off and revealed an ugly frown that exhibited just how much her mask fooled people into believing that she was a sweet and innocent girl.

Ethan laughed loudly, gathering the attention of the people inside the cafeteria. Their eyes drifted around the people sitting on the table before fixating themselves on Amanda. This time, however, she wasn't able to regain her composure. Everyone now knows her true, wicked self.

Tears began to stream down her face. The mask that she once wore had completely melted away in the face of these people. These tears were her only shot of escaping with her dignity intact.

Her own group of friends quickly rushed over as they saw her devastated face. They all glared at Ahe as he smiled at them, not wanting to calm the poor girl down. In the eyes of everyone else, Amanda was the victim of those peoples' harassment. How could they hurt such a precious soul?

As Amanda walked away, she glared at Ahe and Assana. It wasn't even the first day of school and they already made enemies. Amanda thanked the heavens that she was able to fool every person that was present.

"Should we eat inside our dorm?" Loki spoke up and everyone nodded. They took their respective food and walked out of the cafeteria without an ounce of shame, making them even more sinister in the eyes of everyone.
