Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

The bus was just that, a bus. Taking into consideration the past few days and all of the things they have experienced, Assana expected this vehicle to have something different. Maybe something strange and unnatural. However, the only thing they saw were other kids that were also scouted.

Ahe, being an extroverted person, began conversing with everyone present. A few kids glared at him while others smiled politely and answered his questions. The question Ahe asked everyone was who was the person that recommended this school.

Most of them answered that the teachers that work at the school, named Ataelarth, were the ones that were given the task to find them and persuade them to apply. Assana and Ahe looked at each other. The person that went to find them was the person in charge of Ataelarth, does this mean that they are special?

Assana had sat down with Ahe. He chatted away with a few people he had just met while she stayed inside her own little world. How will everything turn out?

Felling a tap on her shoulder, she turned around and saw two young men that appeared to be a year older than her.

One of the boys had short, brown hair and dark colored eyes. The smile he wore was carefree and sweet, giving off the impression that he wasn't worried about the sudden change in his life. Despite his untroubled appearance, you could see that he was on edge by the way he constantly moved his feet, trying to relieve some stress.

The guy next to him wasn't as open as the brown-headed boy. He had beautiful red hair that was swept to the side and a pair of green eyes that saw right through you. Freckles lightly decorated his cheeks and forehead. The feeling he gave off was calming and it relieved the tension the other boy felt.

"Hi. I'm Ethan, it's nice to meet you! This is my friend Loki," Ethan, the brown-headed boy said. Assana kept quiet for a few seconds, trying to figure out why they would begin to speak to her since they were one of the few people that glared at Ahe when he tried conversing with everyone.

"Assana."

Noticing Assana's hesitant filled voice, Ethan smiled awkwardly. "Sorry for treating your friend rudely earlier. We were resting when he came in and he began talking loudly, waking us up. Right, Loki?" Ethan turned to look at his friend for support. Loki stared at him for a short second and nodded.

Narrowing her eyes, Assana spoke up, "You shouldn't be apologizing to me."

Shifting nervously, Ethan apologized once more. He even began to slightly bow in order to express his regret!

Feeling a bit guilty, Assana's eyes softened. "it's okay. He is quite annoying, I must agree."

Hearing her comment, Ethan managed to calm down and Loki let out a small laugh. Ahe had also heard this and pouted.

"Assana, you are tainting my name."

"It's your fault. You woke the poor boy up."

Seeing Assana and Ahe bicker, Ethan couldn't help but laugh. "You guys must really love each other. Are you together?"

Assana and Ahe quickly silenced themselves while staring blankly at Ethan. He felt confused. Did he say something wrong?

"Yeah, no. Ahe doesn't swing that way if you know what I mean," said Assana with a snicker as she watched how Ethan's cheeks burned out of embarrassment. Ahe didn't feel uncomfortable and he only laughed, loving Ethan's embarrassed reaction.

Loki, on the other hand, felt shocked at the sudden revelation. How could Ahe openly state his sexual orientation? Not only that, but he didn't feel threatened at all when Assana outed him to a pair of strangers. He began to admire his bravery since it wouldn't be something that he would be able to do.

Ethan smiled brightly while draping an arm around Loki's shoulders. "Really? Well then, I've found Loki a boy!"

Loki glared furiously at Ethan as Ahe turned to look at him. "Really? You're gay too?"

He sighed and shook his head. "Bisexual with a strong inclination towards men," he said while looking down. Ethan was always like this. He always told people his sexual orientation after finding someone like him. This was something that infuriated Loki and he had tried correcting Ethan a few times, but he never listened. Despite this, Loki knew that Ethan always had his best interests in mind.

Ahe gasped and laughed. "No way! You're exactly like Assana!"

Now it was Assana's turn to smile awkwardly and nod. She was already used to Ahe telling people the fact that she is bisexual, but she never liked having a long conversation about the consecuences of being with someone of the same sex.

The atmosphere then turned awkward as none of the children knew what to say. Loki was surprised by the fact that Assana was also like him, making him too shocked to say anything. Ahe was actually pleasantly surprised by the fact that Loki liked boys. The boy looked extremely handsome and he couldn't help but drool for Loki.

The rest of the ride was quiet. Assana, Ethan and Loki kept to themselves while Ahe talked to everyone, quickly gaining friends. He had tried inviting her a couple of times to join in on the conversation, but she excused herself saying that she was too tired.

There was a certain part of the trip where Assana fell asleep. Actually, every single person inside the bus, excluding the driver, fell into a deep sleep. It was a really strange occurrence since Ahe was talking to everyone when, all of a sudden, they all fell asleep.

One by one, everyone began to slowly wake up. They didn't know how, but they had arrived at their destination. Everyone began whispering amongst themselves, asking if anyone was able to stay awake. Unfortunately, no one was able to do so.

"Hello and welcome to Ataelarth! I hope you all enjoy your time here, make new friends and show us the best you can do!"

Amos was waiting in front of the school gates with a huge smile on his face. By his side were the teachers that worked at the school. The students began to excitedly point out the person that had reached out to them and recommended this school.

"I want you all to follow the person that told you about this school's existence. They will answer any of your questions and they will also show you around the school."

Everyone began to shuffle around trying to reach the person that had scouted them. Assana and Ahe, on the other hand, stayed still for a couple of seconds. Were they the only ones that were scouted by Amos? Despite these thoughts, Assana and Ahe walked up to Amos.

The teachers looked at Amos, shocked clearly written in their expressions. Did their headmaster actually leave to find these two kids? In all of their life working for Amos, they had never seen him be truly enthusiastic enough to go by himself to bring new students to the school. Why the rush in obtaining these two kids?
