Chapter 5 - Chapter 6 - Crown Clown’s Voice

After leaving Komui's office, Allen was back in his room thinking about what Neah said. He can't imagine the hate he would feel if Mana was used to create weapons to fight him. Forced to reincarnate every time he dies.

'I bet I would slowly go insane too….' He looks at the window and sees the silhouette again. 'I already am….'

He places his left hand on his head with the innocence touching his forehead. 'If only there was some way I could combine innocence with dark matter, then I could stop this war….'

"You can…." A female voice echoes in his mind.

"What!? Who's there…? Deja Vu?" He almost laughed at his own joke but remained serious.

"Down…here…" The teen hears it again coming from his left.

"It's me…Allen…." Allen felt his hand tingle and saw the innocence glowing brightly.

"Crown Clown….?"

"…yes…"

"You…can talk!?" He fell from his bed making a loud ruckus.

"Walker? Is everything ok? I heard yelling!"

The exorcist calms himself down as much as he can, subconsciously using the fourteenth's melody, and opens the door.

"Y-Yeah. Everything's fine, Link." Allen placates the inspector and heads back inside to talk to….his…innocence…

"Crown Clown…you said I could combine you with dark matter?"

"Yes…."

"How? I thought that you conflicted with each other?"

"You rebonded…..with me….after your Noah genes….woke up…." It was slow to speak but he listened intently. "That's why….it was difficult…for you…to do so….even though I….wanted to…."

"But how….?"

"Pure love….your love for….humans and Akuma….resonated with…the heart…of Eve….for she loved….humans…in all forms…."

"That's…impossible, right?"

"No…Noah and Eve….were created…by god…a singular being….that is why….they can merge…."

"But how? I can't…" The boy sobs. "I don't know if I can love humans as much again…not after my own friends and family betrayed me…"

"Yes…you can…Allen…I can sense…it in you….you just have…to rediscover….it again….."

"..." Allen doesn't reply and the innocence stops glowing.

Komui was in his office, still thinking about a Link's words. He didn't even notice when Lenalee entered his room until she placed a cup of coffee on his desk.

"Brother?"

"Lenalee….How has Allen been?" He asks her hoping she's one of the people link in spoke about.

'Of course she is…she wouldn't-' komui stops when he sees his sister flinch at the name.

"Lenalee…?"

"I'm sorry, brother….I don't know. I haven't spoken to Allen since….3 weeks ago."

"….Why?"

"Because….he scares me brother. Allen is so strong and yet, he's turning into a Noah…." She grabs her body to stop the shaking. "Once he does, he'll kill everybody here!"

"That's all the more reason why you should be there for him!" His harsh words made her shocked. "How could you abandon him when he needs us the most? How hurt must he feel when his family recoils at his presence….?" Komui grabs her shoulders and trembles from the sadness he's imagining.

"What I'm thinking of hurts so much, yet I probably can't even imagine how he must feel…."

"But Allen's strong, right? He can prevent the fourteenth from-" She wasn't able to finish the statement.

"And why would he when his friends hate him!? Fear him!? Ignore him!?" Komui angrily yelled at his sister.

It was the first time since they reunited, but the man felt so sick at Allen's situation. The disgust at his own inaction and ignorance coupled with the knowledge that his sister was one of the people who hurt him, almost broke him.

"Brother….?"

"Lenalee Lee." Komui looks at his sister with a hard look.

"Y-yes?"

"Go and talk to Allen. Right now, if you don't….I don't wish….to see you…." The entire room went silent as the lab techs heard every word.

"B-brother!? How could you!?"

"Do you feel abandoned?" Johnny walks up and asks.

"Johnny?" Reever was worried because he saw how despondent the boy Has looked since the announcement.

"Sad that the person you know as family, will no longer talk to you because of something you don't understand? Because of something that you desperately didn't want to happen?" His glasses overflow with tears.

"H-how do you think Allen feels? We turned on him in an instant!" He grabs his lab coat. "Because of a Noah!? yet we treat him like an enemy before it's happened! How could we think he's ok when none of us have spoken to him in weeks!?!?!" The boy fell to the ground and hugged his shoulders.

"No…I just…" Lenalee steps back and looks at the lab techs giving her reproachful looks. "But Allen…is fine….right?" Tears start to fall from her eyes now.

She doesn't continue as she uses all her strength to dash to Allen's room. A week ago, she rebonded with her innocence and it became a Crystal Type, allowing her speed to be much faster than before. Lenalee pauses he stride because she temporarily forgets where Allen's room is but continues when she remembered. The young woman reaches it in less than a minute.

Allen heard the commotion but didn't care enough to look outside. He was still thinking about his talk with Crown Clown when a knock was heard from the door.

"I'm sorry Jerry I just got back from-" Allen stopped because he saw Lenalee, not the head chef outside of his door.

His amicable smile fell and it was replaced with his fake one. Lenalee saw the change and her heart broke like glass.

"Hey, Lenalee. Is something the matter?"

"N-no, I just…wanted to ask how you're feeling…"

"I'm fine, you don't have to worry about me." His tone was full of energy and she wanted to believe him, except for his eyes. They were so dull, not like the usual vibrant silver that used to sparkle when he spoke to her.

"…Allen…I'm sorry….I'm so so sorry, for-" Allen's fake smile went away and she saw for the first time, his true feelings on it.

She never thought he could look so cold, so….scary.

"Why are you sorry? Because Link told Komui about my situation? You felt Guilty, right?"

His sarcastic smirk made her silent.

"Allen…I-"

"You're not sorry for what you did, you're sorry for how I must feel as a result. There's a difference in there Ms. Lee." His formal tone shocked her to her core. "A difference you can't see, that has hurt me. I don't want to speak to somebody who doesn't even know what they did wrong." He starts closing the door but says something before it fully shuts.

"Goodbye." He then locks the door.

Link opened his door and saw Lenalee sobbing while kneeling on the ground. He heard every word and agreed with Allen in all regards.

"…why…I just….I didn't want…waaah!!" She couldn't articulate her words and link felt no pity for her.

"Actions have consequences, Ms. Lenalee Lee. I'm not sure what your intentions were, but your actions have pushed Mr. Walker away." He hands her a handkerchief to clean herself up.

"You realize only after I say something to the Branch Leader, and you still have no idea what you've done wrong. How….selfish of you." He goes to his room after saying this.

Allen ignored the girl's cries and apologies from The door and closed his eyes. He just wanted to fell asleep and talk with Neah again. He wanted to get away from this reality that he lives in.

[Come here, Allen….] Neah's gentle voice lulls him to sleep.

"Neah?" He was shocked because it's only been a few hours since they met.

"I'm here, Allen. I heard everything." The man hugged him. "You can let it out, all your sadness and hate…" Allen shook in his embrace and tears fell.

"Why am I always the one that gets hurt from other people's actions? Why Neah? It hurts so much….."

'He's so fragile….' Neah thinks and is worried

For his host's future. 'I can only comfort him like this….'

In a few minutes, Allen calms down and talks to the Noah about what the innocence said. The man seemed to be ecstatic at the knowledge. He cried tears of joy that he will be able to save his family without killing them again.

"I-I'm so happy…."

"Hehe…."

The two fell into amicable silence again and Neah frowned for an instant.

"What's wrong, Neah?"

"Your transformation is getting closer Allen. I've been holding it off for a while now, to give you some time, but…My strength is leaving me…"

"Neah…?"

"I won't be able to meet you for a couple weeks. Stay strong and know that I'm with you, ok?"

"Don't go Neah….please…."

"Don't worry, Allen. Once you fully Awaken, you'll be with me. Just like all of the others who have been." His body begins to disintegrate even without the world around them getting destroyed.

"Neah…." Allen mumbles as he holds onto the last mote of light from the man's exit.
