When day turned to night, Link walked out of his room after making she Allen was asleep. He heads to an abandoned room and takes out a grey golem.
-Report. inspector Link.- Malcom C. Levellier's voice was heard from it.
"Sir!" Link salutes. "The subject is not showing any signs of transforming into a Noah at the present time."
-Good.- his boss pauses. -What about the other matter?-
"Yes! Rumors have circulated like you wished and the subject is being isolated." Link frowned internally at the riskiness of this plan but kept up the facade of not caring.
-I see….Allen Walker's duty as the fourteenth is key for us and I need him to rely on me. Isolating him is the best way to do that…-
Link waits for the report to be over and was walking back to his room with a frown.
'You might have done something far worse than making him rely on you, Sir Levellier. He might be relying on the Noah inside of him…' The inspector heads to his bed and let's the sweet call of sleep lull him to oblivion.
Two weeks after Lenalee's apology, it was December and snow was falling every day around the headquarters. Allen was back in the library, reading a book next to a window with a sad smile marring his features. It was a constant thing seen on him now, like he couldn't put the effort to hide his real self anymore.
"Walker…you need to eat." Link is sitting down next to him reading his own book.
"….mmhm…."
"You're not even listening…." The inspector sighs and pulls out some candy from his pocket.
Allen sniffed the air and looked to his shadow with sparkling eyes.
"Link….." his tone like a child made the man smirk a bit.
"Now, will you eat? It's past lunch time, Walker."
"Oh…sorry about that. Just trying to find something." The exorcist closes the book and walks to the cafeteria.
"What are you searching so fervently for? You've been at it for a month.."
"Remember when I asked about the innocence?"
"Oh….is it necessary? It will help us win the war…"
"….If I told you that innocence is made from humans, how would you react?"
"W-what!?" The inspector's eyes bulged. "Did you-"
"Just a hypothetical." His tone made Link think otherwise but he calmed down.
"…I don't….think it would matter."
"What!? Really?" Allen was shocked.
"It's our only weapon, Walker. Without it, we will die and the Noah will kill all of the humans…"
"…maybe…." The boy mumbles low enough so Link didn't hear.
"So, if the Noah weren't our enemy, how would you feel?"
"…disgusted. Outraged, and on the verge of a breakdown. But, I hide it behind my logical mind."
"I see…."
They no longer speak to one another. On the way to the cafeteria, Allen's eye activated and blood drips down his cheek.
"Gah!"
"Walker!"
"Akuma! Ten..twenty….there's over 100 of them!" He yells in pain.
"Where?"
"The science division! So many souls…." He whispers out the last statement and makes a dash for the room with his crown clown activated.
Link runs after but falls behind quickly. Thankfully, he knows where his target is going and gets there just in time to see Allen slashing at the black-purple wall where the doors used to be.
"What is this!?" Allen roars.
"It seems to be a barrier that separates two spaces." The former science division head from America contemplates.
"Nothing will break it unless we disrupt the people creating it." Reever supplied.
"Which is where!?"
"Inside…" Komui replies to Allen seriously.
In the lab, many Akuma surrounded the egg and a beautiful woman sitting on top of it with her head against it. She mumbled sweet things to it as if it were her child.
"Lady Lulubell…Everybody has been knocked out as ordered." A level 3 Akuma states.
"Hm….good." She nod and looks coldly at the prone humans. "Convert the ones you can to skulls. We lost many when Cross Marion sneaked in."
"As you wish." A humanoid figure with a skull for a head, wearing a large jacket, bows. "What about the failures?"
"Kill them."
"Very well."
Outside the lab; Lenalee, Kanda, and generals Tiedoll, Sokalo, and Kloud arrived all trying to enter the lab room. They're unsuccessful despite how powerful they were.
"Damn! Link, let me use the Ark!" Allen yells.
"Walker. You're not allowed without Director Levellier's direct-"
-I allow it!- link's golem flies up and yells. -Make sure to prioritize the Akuma egg.-
"Whatever!" Allen opened up a portal almost instantly shocking the group behind him.
He usually took about 2 minutes to do this before. Allen doesn't care for the others and leaps onto the portal that appears on the other side of the entrance.
"Lady Lulubell! The ark-!" The level 3 Akuma yelled but his head was sliced off.
Allen walked inside and had his head covered by his hood. He used the cape of his crown clown to stab into the walls of the lab.
"Allen Walker…" the Noah whispered as she remembered the Earl's other order.
"Lulu, when you retrieve the egg, if Allen Walker appears….observe him as much as you can."
"Earl?"
"I have some suspicions I wish for you to clarify, but only do so if you are able. If you are in danger, forget about it ok? Lulu?" He rubs the cat's head and she purred in agreement.
"Good." The Earl nods happily.
"Skulls." She orders and the humanoid figures nod.
They make some hand symbols and the Ark portal was blocked off. They aren't able to forcefully close it, but wrap another barrier around it? They can do that.
"Damn it! I need to kill them!" Sokalo hit the see-through barrier but it didn't budge.
"Allen!!" Lenalee yells with worry as her friend Is the only one on the other side.
"…That's not very fair, you know…." He speaks to Lulubell as if he wasn't surrounded by a hundred Akuma.
'30 level 3's and 70 level 2's.' Allen noted in his mind. His frown going further at the souls he's seeing.
With the hundred Akuma, he could hear thousands of disembodied voices pleading for release. His left eye once again drops blood as if it was crying.
"This is war."
"Is it?" Allen moves his hand and a white portal appears in the black ark where the egg was landing.
He wills for another portal in the shape of a cylinder to appear around the object so nobody was able to interfere with its descent.
"You-!" Lulubell hissed with her human tongue. "Akuma! Attack!" Her order was met with gleeful laughter from the weapons.
"Allen!" Lavi arrived and hit his hammer against the barrier.
Kanda was next to him using his sword to do the same. "Damn it Beansprout!" His yell of frustration was heard by them all.
"….." Allen grabbed his left arm and it transformed into his Akuma sword. Just as the Akuma were attacking him, his blade revolves around him, cutting over 8 Level 2 Akuma in half.
His body seemed to fly toward the left wall and as he passes, his sword cut every single weapon into many pieces. His speed unable to be processed by the weaker Akuma while the level 3's were still in shock.
'His speed is much faster than before….' Kanda observes Allen's fight.
"How is he….?" Reever and Johnny whispered as they watched from the landing.
'Allen….' The glasses wearing scientist was worried.
He couldn't see Allen's body except for when he stopped, but when he did. He saw blood leaking down his left cheek and could see his teeth biting his bottom Lip.
"What are you doing?" Lulubell looks to the level 3 Akuma who still haven't budged since Allen's slaughter has begun 10 seconds ago.
He has, in that time, destroyed over 30 of the level 2 Akuma much to her shock. She studied the boy before she came on this mission and didn't see any sign of this kind of strength.
'It's like he's a general….'
"You heard Lady Lulubell! Let's get him!" The Level 3 Akuma begin attacking and Allen had to get serious.
He's able to dispatch Level 2's no problem. But this many level 3's? That's somewhat difficult. Their speed and strength far greater than the previous ones, Allen cut one only for another to hit him in the back.
He uses his crown clown to wrap up 5 and cuts their heads off just before another two flew from above and kicked him back down to the ground. Blood poured from his mouth as Allen felt some ribs crack.
"Allen!!"
"….." the other people silent as they watch the fight continue.
The white haired teen stood up and stabbed his sword to the ground. His cape enlarged and formed a dome around him pushing Akuma away. Allen took a breath and willed his innocence to act the way he wanted.
"What's happening?" Lavi wondered as He has never seen this before.
"Walker is using his cape as a barrier. He did this on our last mission." Link explains and the others were annoyed that he was the only one to know.
"Is he ok?" Lenalee asks with worry while Lavi felt the same.
"He's by himself, surrounded by over 50 Akuma, Ms. Lenalee Lee. He is not able to fully exert himself as he is also focusing his attention on saving the egg." His tone cold to the rest. "Do you think he is ok?"
She sobbed and knelt to the ground powerlessly while the skulls who made the barrier felt a certain respect for this exorcist. They couldn't tell why, but it was like a long forgotten feeling that they're awakening to.
'I guess I need to use that….' Inside the enlarged cape, Allen coughed out a glob of blood.
After Neah told him that his awakening was imminent, Allen threw himself to trying to combine Dark Matter and Innocence. A few days ago, he was somewhat successful and in awe at what happened during the test. However, he wasn't able to do it again.
"Crown Clown…" Allen groans as he feels his ribs begin to heal themselves. "Let's go…."
"….Yes…." The innocence replied and he felt reinvigorated.
Ever since it's been able to speak, he has had access to certain abilities that laid dormant. His healing factor increased tenfold while the cape was able to become a shield in an instant. Another one was accessible and he decided to use it now.
Everybody watched as his cape deflated and spun around with it cutting itself to ribbons. Allen reappeared with the ribbons surrounding his body tightly, like an armor and one of the ribbon was tied to the blade.
The teen took a deep breath and conjured an image to help him with the process. He grinned in satisfaction as his sword seemed to fall through the floor like it didn't exist.
Lulubell went wide eyed as she saw the blade phase through the ground.
"ATTACK!!!" A level 3 Akuma ordered and they all surrounded Allen on the floor.
"Step back!" she ordered quickly but it was too late.
Allen grabbed the ribbon and it became taut before he spun it around his body. The sword came back and it spun around the boy cutting the Akuma to pieces.
"What the hell!?" An Akuma yelled right before it got cut into two.
Allen let the ribbon go longer as he spun and in just a few seconds, all of the Akuma that surrounded him exploded. The sword not hurting the structure of the building itself, only Akuma. He pulled it close letting the sword fell back into his hands as if it weighed nothing.
"You…how do you have his ability…?" Lulubell asked with a whisper.
Her shock overwriting her anger in the moment.
"I'm not sure…." Allen replies and his ribbon clothes return to his normal cloak. He fuses the sword back into his arm and walks closer to the Noah.
