We sat in the locker room. "So, does anyone have a plan?" Bill shook his head, "I don't know anything about them. Brit?"
"7-W room 29, also known as RWBY. They're kind of infamous in the school for being extremely devoted to the show."
"Like, the web show?" Brit nodded, "Yes, even to the point where they have similar abilities to the characters. However, I do believe they are mixed up. Scorpio, if you know about the show, then you can form a strategy once we know who has what." I nodded, "Understood."
We walked into the arena. It was a metal platform that was slightly disconnected from the rest of the grass. Brit was not wrong about the influences this team was taking. They all were wearing almost exact replicas of the character's costumes. The heights were a little off, Ruby was taller than Yang, and Blake was the shortest, but aside from that, I definitely was going to go to them for cosplay advice.
There was a mechanical whirring, and a glass dome started forming above us. "Good luck," the one dressed like Yang took off her sunglasses, "You're gonna need it." They all had their own weapons, completely different from their references, excluding the one who looked like Weiss, who had an exact replica of her rapier. I got my scythe, and Bill held his sword at the ready. "3! 2!" Jamie and Brit grabbed the swords the school provided, "1! Go!"
Almost right away, Bill shot himself toward Ruby. She reacted just in time to miss getting hit. Bill's sword met with a sword that looked like it came right out of the crusades. "Checkmate!" Weiss shot herself toward me, followed by Blake. I blocked Weiss's blow, only to be kicked in the throat by Blake. "Jamie, now might be-" I got hit in the stomach by a staff, I looked up and Blake was standing there, "Get up." I stood up and hit her in the side with the staff of my scythe. She flew 5 feet before regaining her footing, then ran back towards me. I looked to Bill, who looked like he was almost done with Ruby, then I felt a sharp pain on my arm. "Shi-" I fell to my knee. The same arm. Why did it have to be that arm? I put my other hand over it, sure enough, it was bleeding.
I got up, and was met with another slice from something, this time to my leg. I fell back onto my knee, but got up almost immediately, this time blocking the incoming strike. I took off my glasses and opened my eye. I saw everything around me in slower motion. Behind me, Blake was readying herself for another strike with her scythe, Jamie and Brit were taking on Weiss, and Bill had finished Ruby and was now on Yang. I ducked, and cut Blake's Achilles heel, followed by her arm. She collapsed, but then disappeared. "Oh come o-!" My back shot pain through the rest of my body. I stood back up, but almost instantly, my head started to get light. "Keep going. Keep going." I repeated the phrase in my head, "You've been through worse." I sped up my perception again. In front of me, Blake was readying a finishing blow, if I could counter it, I might be able to take her out without exerting too much energy. I moved my scythe to counter the blow, and leveled my perception. Blake moved so quickly, that if I hadn't slowed everything, there's no way I could've blocked it. Her scythe clashed with mine, and we both flew back. I ran straight into Weiss, and looked over at Blake. She was out. I looked around, Weiss was underneath me, Brit and Jamie were already out, and Bill was struggling with Yang.
"Should we do it?" Bill looked back. "Should we do what?!"
"What we've been practicing."
"This early?"
"Yeah. I wanted to do it as soon as possible." I sighed, "Sure." Weiss shot me forward, and stood up, "Honestly, the never of you! We're in the middle of a fight! Now is not the time to strategize!" Bill chuckled, "Whatever." I opened my eye again, and everything went dark.
I felt looked down. Well, I didn't, Bill did. I walked over to my body, and held my sword at the ready. "You sure about this? You don't really know how to use it." I couldn't tell if I heard concern or smugness in Bill's voice, "I'll be fine, just focus on keeping yourself there, I'll take these two."
"Understood." I shot at Weiss at a speed I didn't even think was possible for an organic being. She held her rapier in a position to defend herself, but it just snapped in half like a twig. I grazed her arm, and she fell over. Yang jumped toward me. "Oh no." Her eyes were glowing red, and she had clearly lost composure. "Oh no what?"
"Not now, Bill." The force that hit my body was equivalent to a bolder hitting me. I stood up, and looked at my body Weiss. She was in a similar state as everyone else, completely passed out. "Alright, it's just us now. I'm gonna leave your body."
I shot awake and grabbed my scythe. Bill was on the ground, and Yang was standing over him. "This'll teach you." She flicked him in the forehead, and he flew across the arena. I looked at her, then I looked back at Bill. He was out. I screamed, and ran toward Yang. "YOU BITCH!" She looked at me, "Wha-" I sliced clean through her arm. "How's that for cosplay." Everyone was silent. I looked at Yang, her arm was already back. There was thunderous applause, followed by feedback from the speakers. "The winners are 1-A room 36!" I fell on my knee and tried to catch my breath. "Why am I such a glass cannon?" my consciousness was fading, "I-I'm fine." Bill walked toward me, but before I heard anything, I passed out.
