Chapter 28 - Semi-Final [Bill]

We stepped onto the arena. It was bigger than last time. In front of us were two other kids, a guy and a girl. They both had hair so light it was almost white. One had a broadsword held at the ready. His stance was, odd, to say the least. He had his feet apart, and he held it point first, more like a rapier than a broadsword. The other one had a pair of gauntlets, they covered her entire forearms, and each was plated in a golden substance. "3! 2! 1! Go!" We ran at each other, I looked at Scorpio, who simply nodded, and jumped over me. I ran left, and met the other sword head on. We locked blades for at least 30 seconds before jumping back. We hit each other's blades again at least 5 times, before stopping to catch out breath. "So, we're even?" I nodded. His voice had a slight accent to it, but I couldn't place where it was from. "So be it." He ran at me, but disappeared right before I could block. "Wha-" I heard footsteps behind me, "Sh-" I turned around, barely quick enough to protect my face.

I winced, I tried to move my left arm, but it wouldn't. "Not good." I heard a voice in my head, "What happened?" I started thinking to myself, "Broke my arm. Is this you Scorpio?"

"Yeah. I'm almost done with this one. After that I'll try to help you." An arrow flew down from the sky. "HOW-" I jumped barely in time for it to impact the ground. My opponent wasn't so lucky. He was stuck in one place, the arrow shot right through his right leg. I took the chance, and went for his leg. A clean slice and he fell to the ground. He passed out, as the leg started re-attaching itself. "David Bolt, eliminated!" I felt a warm sensation in my arm. I tried moving it, this time, it worked better than before it was injured. "Perfect."

I ran towards the other person, but right before I hit her, she turned her back to me, and ducked. Scorpio jumped back right before I decapitated her. Scorpio slashed at her legs with her scythe, just barely missing. I looked down, and saw the girl crouching in front of me. The worst pain imaginable followed. Scorpio winced as I flew in the air. When I hit the ground, I left a descent sized crater. "Thanks. Didn't want to have kids anyway." Scorpio looked at me. I nodded, "Go for the arms!" An arrow fell, hitting the girl in the stomach. "Perfect." I barely managed to stand up, and when I did, I noticed she was still standing. An arrow sticking through her abdomen. "You will not go down, will you?" She shook her head, "Afraid not." She ran toward me. I shielded myself with my sword. The impact shook my whole body. I felt the bones in my arms turn into dust. I tried to move them, but nothing happened. She kept punching at me, but I somehow managed to dodge her attacks. Scorpio hooked her scythe on the ground, and used it as a diving board, ramming herself into the girl. "Now!" An arrow fell, and hit me square in the chest. Before I felt anything, my vision switched to Scorpio's. "Bill Walker, eliminated!"

I looked at my hands. They were extremely feminine. I stretched my arms. "Feels good to move these again."

"Not the time Bill," Scorpio's voice rang in my mind, "You have three minutes in my body before I pass out. I'd suggest using it." I nodded, "Three minutes is all I need." I ran and grabbed my sword. It was heavy. I somehow managed to heft it in a position. "See why I thought it was a problem?"

"Yeah. Whatever though, we've got this." I started spinning, turning myself into a fan-blade taking in everything around. "What are you doing?"

"What I can?" The girl was slowly getting sucked into the vortex, until eventually, a shower of red splashed from her sides. She passed out, "Rose Parr, eliminated!" I sunk to one knee, and my consciousness returned to my body.

I felt all the fatigue I did in Scorpio's body. My arms were healed, but sore. Scorpio started stumbling around. I ran to her, and grabbed her right as she passed out. "I swear to God, you can't stay awake for the end of just one match." I carried her to the locker room, guided by cheering from the audience.

"I was only in there for 1 and a half minutes, why did you pass out?" She glared at me, "Because, you clearly don't know human limitations," she rubbed her bicep, "You might be able to pull a stunt like that, but I guarantee anyone who isn't a professional body builder can't lift something like that and swing it like a madman without any consequences."

We sat in the stands next to Jamie and Brit. "Where's Akumura and Naomi?" Jamie shrugged. Brit wasn't paying attention. "All I know is Akumura said something about having to take care of some business. It's probably nothing. He'll be back by the time he has his match." I sighed, "I hope he is. I wanna take him on in the finals."

"How do you know you're going to the finals? Scorpio lasted longer in that fight than you did, even if she did pass out as a result. Also, Naomi could be the one going on." Scorpio shook her head, "I'm not moving on. I'm almost certain most of the humans aren't going to last past this round. I won't last a second out there. And I passed out because Bill overworked my body."

"Wait, you transferred your consciousness again?!" Brit was suddenly part of the conversation.

"For a short period, yes. What about it?"

"I don't usually see people doing that often. The shortest period between two transferals I've seen is a month. It's extremely grating on the mind, and can result in Schizophrenia. I wouldn't try to until at least another three, maybe four months." Scorpio sighed, "Alright. I wasn't planning on anyway. I don't really think we're going to have any situations where I'd need to anyway." Jamie sighed, "I wouldn't be sure about that. I already told you yesterday, and Bill knows. We might have a large-scale battle soon." I scoffed, "Yeah, sure. If you guys just listen, my dad can take care of it."

"I, don't know about that. He may be powerful, but he's not benevolent. None of them are." I sighed, "Right. Well, we've got time until he finds us anyway. Let's not worry too much."
