Chapter 7 - (7) May You Rest In The House You Love Forever

~Two Years Later~

After two years of watching her aunt and uncle, Emica Hinata and Asas Hinata, and their three children slandering and ruining her house, Akari finally turned that beautiful age of eighteen. Emica was Akari's mother's step-sister. Hiramashi was always kind to Emica, but Hiramashi took that to her advantage and took everything from her, including Kiramashi's first true lover. Akari officially kicked out her relatives with relish and took a look at her house. Everything that her relatives had bought was now her property since the money was technically her mothers. The house had been thoroughly damaged. The wallpaper had been chipped and torn apart, and the paint was peeling off the walls. Akari ran to the only room that she knew had not been touched by their dirty hands. She stopped in front of her mother's door. Before she left, Akari had locked the door and barricaded it. Akari had pulled down a hidden hatch on the ceiling. A ladder drops down from the hatch and Akari climbs into her mother's room. As she looks around the dust riddled room, she can still see all the memories from the years.

~Series of Flashbacks~

-Flashback 1-

Akari was only four years old. Her mother had tried continuously to get her to take a bath, but Akari would always run away. Akari was running away, butt naked, and her pigtails flying as her mother chased her around the house. Hiramashi finally caught up to Akari and picked her up, tickling her. Hiramashi had given up that day and took Akari to Hiramashi's room and gave her a long dress that was too small for Hiramashi. Akari had dragged the hem around and the sleeves were too big for her little arms. Akari had giggled and watched Disney movies until she fell fast asleep. Akari dreamed that she was one of those heroes in the movies that saves the characters.

I guess, her dream came true. Kind of. But not in the way she thought it would be.

~Flashback 2~

Akari was 14 years old. One year before she had joined Red Winter. Akari had returned home with a sullen face. Her mother, Hiramashi, could tell something was wrong before Akari even opened the front door. Akari had dried tears from crying, and her fair cheeks had turned a rosy red. Hiramashi looked at her daughter before taking her backpack and leading her to Hiramashi's room. Akari looked down as her hair covered her face.

"Sweetheart, what's wrong?" Hiramashi asked, taking her daughter's hand.

"I-I liked someone." Hiramashi sighed and sat her daughter in her lap.

"And, I, I told him, that I liked him. Bu-but, he laughed in my face and called me a disgrace, and he said that was why my dad had left a few years after I was born." Akari started crying. She didn't even notice the murderous intent in her mother's eyes. Hiramashi looked down at her daughter and gave her a tight squeeze.

"Was he even worth it?" Akari thought about it before she shook her head.

"No, and a lot of girls said he was ugly." Akari frowned as she looked up at her mother.

"Phew. He would've made some ugly grandbabies." Akari gasped and slapped her mother's arm.

"MOM!" The two laughed as they thought about the ugly babies.

~Flashback Series End~

Akari unlocked the door and took down the barricade. She dragged Itsuki that was wandering around the house and dragged him to the hardware store. After 3 hours of cleaning, repairing, and fixing stuff that was broken, the house finally came back to its former glory. Akari collapsed on her mother's bed, that was now hers. She finally went to the columbarium that held the ashes of her mother. She also bought a table and put both of them in the library, her mother's favorite place in the whole house. Akari smiled at the urn and smiled for a second.

"Mother, I did it. I got your house back. And now, may you rest in the house you love forever." Akari bowed and walked out the door, her determination burning even brighter than before to make sure her mother could rest in peace and to exterminate the things that hurt her mother.

Father, Akari will not let you rest until you know what pain feels like.
