Akari looked at herself in the mirror. She tried to pull the skirt down, but it just wouldn't obey. While the skirt was falling right above her knees, it still made her feel self-conscious. She pulled her gray backpack over her shoulder and brushed her hair out. She sighed and put on chapstick, and then some pink lipstick. She frowned and smacked her lips together, feeling uncomfortable with the awkward stickiness. She goes downstairs and sees her dad in a professional looking suit. Danuja scans Akari in a lewd manner. Akari's fingers grip above the small pocket knife she packed (and somehow got it through security). Her eyes darken and she smiles at her father. Danuja became a little scared as he saw his daughter shift into a doll. A smile, but with dead eyes. Danuja brushes off that feeling when he remembers that Akari was dumb enough to come to China. She could never be of any danger to him. Akari could kind of sense what he was thinking, and it confused her.
'It's almost like, I can read his mind. The f*ck?'
"Ready to go?" Akari sends him a bright smile and prances out the door.
'What did I have to worry about? Akari is just as innocent as the day I left her!' Danuja thinks.
'What...did I...worry...about? Akari is... innocent...as the day... left her!' Akari heard it in her mind and she stops in shock.
'I'll have to study up on how I can hear Danuja's thoughts.' Akari continues walking to the car. She gets in the car and Danuja drives to school.
~At School~
Danuja called a meeting in the cafeteria. Akari watched as the male students slowly started filling in the cafeteria from her seat backstage.
"My successful students of this prestigious Spirit Alteration and Evolution school. Today, a very special kid will be attending this school. It is a special relative of my... sister-in-law." Akari scoffed and continued watching.
"I trust that you will accept this new student into our school. I now would like to introduce our new student, Akari Hijata." Akari sighs and walks out. The crowd lets out a shocked gasp as they see a girl walk out onto the stage.
"Isn't this school for boys only? Why is a girl here?"
"Damn, she's hot. What's her number?"
"Maybe she'll only be here for a while?"
"She's hot, but not with knockoff looks!"
"..." Out of all the comments made of Akari, only one stood out, and it was the person who made no comment. She looked at him and he had amazing looks. He had messy black hair and was wearing the uniform in a messy way that made him look hot. His tie was untied and the suit was unbuttoned. She noticed some of the extremely young teachers (21-25) ogling over him. The dress shirt was kind of tight, outlining his perfectly sculpted abs and strong chest. The suit was tight and showed his muscles. The pants were a little loose, but it only accented his legs even better than tight pants. Even though he didn't look like those extreme weightlifters, his muscles did him good. But, what caught Akari's more than his perfect looks we're his facial expressions. His eyes were a whiskey colored, matching her misty light gold and purple flecked eyes. His eyes were blank, and his lips seemed to be put in a permanent slight frown. Exactly matching Akari.
"... I hope everyone will accept my niece into this school. Remember our motto, 'The mind is powerful...'"
"'... and it's our duty to create the minds of the future!'" Danuja nods and bows. Everyone follows and bows back. Everyone files out of the cafeteria. The boy that caught Akari's eyes looks back at her, and his eyes were pretty clear, 'I know you are dangerous, but I'm more dangerous.' His eyes flashed for a second and Akari felt her blood and the surrounding area run cold. Akari wrapped her jacket around her tighter and glared at the guy. The guy notices this and lets out a smirk, making his handsome face even more handsome. Akari feels her core heat up a bit, but her arms start to feel cold and tingly. She turns away and grabs her backpack. She jumps off the stage and grips her pocket knife. She walks to her first class, Chinese. She rolled her eyes and walks in class. She looked over her classmates. Her eyes landed on the guy and she inwardly groaned. She still put on a bright smile and greeted the teacher.
"Good morning teacher!" She bows and the teacher scans her, looking at her rather a little larger than average assets.
"Good morning, Akari. I assume you are here to learn Chinese, correct?" Akari nods brightly.
"Yup. I hope I can learn to better communicate with my fellow citizens and classmates to make myself a well functioning member of society!" The teacher smiles lewdly as he sees that he could possibly shape the girl into a person that would follow his every order.
"I am so glad that I finally have a student that is willing to cooperate with me."
"More like a student that you are willing to shape to become your personal play toy." The guy says, looking up as his eyes glow.
"Yoko Chao! Using spiritual Qi against your elders is strictly prohibited!" Yoko looks on lazily as if he could change the tides by just raising a finger.
"Whatever. Why don't you go use your Qi to manipulate little girls instead of messing with me?"
The teacher fumes in anger but then turns to Akari.
"You may take the empty seat next to Yoko." Akari nods and walks over. She sets it down and her face goes back to its normal state.
SHINK!
Akari hears metal being unsheathed and she turns to Yoko. Yoko had taken out a small dagger and was now playing with it and carving the desk. She turns to the person at the front and speaks in Chinese.
"What is Yoko's deal?" She asks. The boy looks back and sighs.
"Yoko. He's an oddball. Never hangs out with anyone and disappears like a phantom after school. I suggest you stay away from him. He is actually the strongest kid in this class. He might even be able to take down the headmaster."
"How do you know that?"
"I and Yoko are friends. We just don't talk to each other. It's been that way since we were children."
"Oooooh."
"Yeah, by the way, how do you know Chinese?"
"My mom taught me."
"Then why are you in this class?"
"Because Danuja thinks I can't speak Chinese."
"So, what are you gonna do about your uncle?" Akari pulls out her small pocket knife and grins eerily.
"Kill him." She said cheerfully. The guy's eyes widened and he stared at the newfound monster in front of him. At first, he thought she was just an innocent, harmless, kitten that would never harm a fly. But now, he realized that Akari might just be as dangerous as Yoko.
"Wh-What? Wh-why? Isn't he your uncle?" Akari laughed with sarcasm.
"I'm his f*cking daughter."
"SERIOUSLY!"
"Guang! No shouting in class!"
"You're shouting as well!"
"That's it Guang! I've had it with your disruptive behavior! You have two hours of detention after school!" Guang groans and turns back around. He taps his pencil against his desk in annoyance. Akari sighs and stands up, putting on her innocent facade.
"Teacher, I'm sorry. It was my fault that Guang-kun was not paying attention. I asked him to help me learn the last three years of Chinese so I could learn the basics. I hope that Guang-kun won't get in trouble for my actions. I don't want to cause others trouble! I-I..." Akari lets fake tears well up in her eyes. The teacher looks on in panic, thinking he would be fired if the headmaster learned that his niece was crying on the first day of school.
"Um, alright. Stop crying. I'll lift Guang's detention. Just make sure you cause no more distractions in class." Akari wipes the tears and looks up with shiny eyes.
"Re-really?" The teacher nods warily and Akari breaks out in smiles.
"Thank you!" Akari sits down and her face goes blank. She starts doodling instead of listening to the teacher. She feels eyes staring at her and she looks sideways.
'You... read... minds?' She hears it from his head.
'How did you know?' She thinks, betting that he can hear as well.
'Because... your Qi... is powerful.'
'How do I sharpen my Qi in mind reading?'
'Just... listen... to... minds.'
'Um, okay.' Akari tries to zoom into the teacher's mind.
'That...new... She's... perfect for my... play toy.' Akari looks disgusted, but soon feels good when she learns that her mind-reading skills are getting sharper.
~Lunchtime~
Akari sat at an empty table and took out her phone. She sent a quick text to Aiko and waits for her reply.
"Hey, pretty girl. How are you doing?" A boy asks in Chinese. Akari thinks about whether she should play along, or pretend she doesn't understand. She contemplated for a while until Yoko showed up. He silently sat down next to Akari. The group of boys standing in front of Akari started whispering and staring at Yoko who had his eyes closed.
"Are you done gawking?" He asks, looking up. The boys pale and scamper away. Akari looks toward the backs of them and then turns to Yoko.
"Are you really that dangerous and scarily powerful?" Akari asks, picking at her food. Yoko sighs and eats his food.
"You wanna test it?" Akari nods warily. Yoko turns his head towards her and his eyes start glowing. Akari feels cold and her surrounding areas temperature drop. She sees memories of her mother flick through in her brain. She freezes and stares, entranced. Yoko's eyes stop glowing and Akari goes back to her normal state. She stares at Yoko, scared.
"You really are powerful." Yoko gets up and turns to Akari.
"Just don't ever cross paths with me." Yoko walks away. She leaves as well and goes to the library. She checks out all the books on spiritual Qi and reads them. She feels someone sit next to her and sees one of her classmates sitting next to her.
"So, you've attracted Yoko's attention, haven't you?" He asks.
"Yeah, I guess." He puts a hand on her shoulder.
"Be careful around him. He's known to use intimidation to get what he wants. And, ever since he arrived in Beijing, people have been disappearing." He stands up and looks at Akari.
"Don't anger Yoko. While he may be the may be the most valuable ally, he will be the most dangerous enemy you can ever have." He turns around to leave but Akari calls him.
"Who are you?"
"I'm-" He stops and turns his head to the side as if he is listening to something.
"It's none of your concern of who I am. You'll learn soon enough." The guy waved his hand and a misty green swirled around him. It was Qi. And it was powerful.
"How does this guy have so much power?" She asks or loud, shocked. The guy smiles at her.
"I, Disung Chen, of the Heaven Nation, orders a life bond to Akari Hijata of Tokyo. I swear to devote my life to her, and to supply her using any means necessary." He points toward Akari and Akari sucks up all the Qi energy. Her spiritual ocean filled up at a rapid pace. And her ocean was not small. In a sense, it was an ocean. Normally, one's spiritual ocean is a bowl, making it easier to break through a spiritual level. But having one the size of an ocean may take one person years to cultivate Qi. But with the energy going into Akari, her ocean filled and broke through to the Master Cultivator Stage. Then, Disung was sucked into Akari's mind. She stumbled a bit and looked at her hands. She touched the skin and it felt soft. She took out her phone and turned on the camera. Akari realized her makeup had come off. While other people used makeup to make them more beautiful, Akari used makeup to cover up her real face. Akari was actually very pretty. In middle school, she was the beauty of the school, turning her whole town into a place that worships her at her feet. It started becoming a problem after someone stalked her so she put on makeup to put more imperfections on her face. But while she was absorbing the Qi, her makeup had come off somehow (don't question my logic). She frowned and reached into her backpack.
"Don't." A voice said in her head. She froze and looked around.
"How? What?"
"Is it how or what, because those are two different questions."
"HOW ARE YOU IN MY MIND?"
"You know you can think and I'll hear it, right?"
'Seriously?'
"Hey, Akari. It's me, Disung.'
'I'm not stupid! I guessed you were Disung!'
"Okay, stop yelling. I'm in your head and you yelling is hurting my ears."
'Sorry. But why are you in my head?'
"Right, I made a life bond with you. I am a spiritual being, an Elemental Winged Wolf. I see potential in you, so I decided to make the life bond and to give some of my spiritual Qi. I am back at the Master Cultivator stage with you. When you break through, I break through. I am bonded to you, so when you die, I die."
'So, what now?' It's after school and I don't want to go home.'
"You need to cultivate more Qi. You do that by going into solitary inside a small room and calling Qi to you. You can also get it by absorbing it from enemies and food." Akari nods and sees Yoko walking out of school.
"No, don't follow him!"
'I'm following him.' Disung sighed and let Akari walk after Yoko. Using her extreme stealth skills, she managed to not get caught. Disung walks into a deep part of the forest. Akari saw another boy standing there, waiting. It was the classmate that had tried hitting on her at lunch. Akari listens in to their conversation.
"I- I'm sorry Yoko. Pl-please have mercy on me! I promise I won't ever try to fight you ever again!" Yoko shakes his head and takes out his knife.
"You knew the consequences of crossing me. You must now pay the price!" Yoko stabs him in the stomach and jerks the knife upward. Yoko's eyes flash and black tar comes out of the wound. Yoko looks at it and collects most of it into a bottle.
"I curse your soul to the 18 levels of hell." The bottle shook and glowed brightly before disappearing. Akari couldn't help but clap as jumped down from the tree she was sitting in. Yoko turns around and glares at her.
"Why are you here?"
"On, I was jut having a walk and happened along this beautiful scene." Yoko puts his arm over her neck with the knife. He other arm was above Akari. Akari was a little short, 5'4, but it didn't matter to Yoko's 6'1 height.
"You are gonna shut up and not tell anyone about this."
"One condition." Yoko raises his brow.
"Are you really in a condition to negotiate?"
"Yes. I just want to live with you until I can kill Danuja. I won't tell anyone." Yoko snorts and presses against her neck.
"And why should I comply with your orders?"
"Because."
"Because what?"
"I'm a sadistic killer, you're a sadistic killer, we're a perfect match!" Akari takes out the gun that she killed numerous people with.
"I know you can smell the bloodshed on this." Yoko sniffs and lets go of Akari. He puts his knife away but then looks at her.
"My condition then."
"Shoot." Yoko walks up to her and pins her to the tree again.
"I take your first kiss." Akari's widen and she is about to say no, but she remembers what she's promised her mother. She grit her teeth and answered through anger.
"Fine." Yoko smirks and leans down. He captures her lips in a hot and passionate kiss. Akari's brain goes haywire and she feels weak. She grabs on to Yoko's uniform, pulling him down. Yoko wraps his arms around her waist and pulls her closer. Akari realized just how much her life would change. But she didn't know the magnitude of the effect.
