SOFIA POV
"Mr. Samuel Hendrix will be out for a while. He needs all the medical attention that he can get at the moment and above everything, we will try our best to keep him safe." The doctor announced.
Everyone in the family had been tensed since Samuel Hendrix fell down and slumped.
I tried consoling Aiden by squeezing his hands in comfort. His eyes were staring at the direction of Justin Harper and his mother.
After the doctor had made the announcement, he returned back to the room, where the Aiden's father had been kept.
The atmosphere is gloomy and everyone's face was down and in my case, I was recalling the words of the doctor.
Suddenly, the silence is broken by Justin as he rise to his feet. "Father is in good care with Doctor Wallis, but we cannot determine the next time he will be back to his feet."
"So what are you suggesting?" One of the much older men in the family asked.
"Hendrix Corporation needs a new CEO. We need to appoint someone that will handle this family's empire and carry the legacy to the next generation." He explained.
"This is already settled Justin. Father made it clear that I will take over from him." Aiden replied.
"That was in the times where you were available. When you travelled to china, father saw me run this company and I am sure he will have a contrary opinion."
Aiden was about to pass a comment, when the door opens and a man all dressed up in a black tuxedo steps into the building.
"Sorry I am late." The man said, walking over to one of the couch and taking his sit.
"This is the family lawyer. I have called on him to read the will of father and it should show everyone who is next in line to handle this corporation." Justin revealed.
"How desperate can you go Justin?" Aiden asked, letting go of my hand. "You are so eager to become CEO, when father has not died. It is a sign that you are incompetent."
"Mind your tongue Aiden!" Justin's mother interrupted and the frown on her face is evident to everyone.
"I have come here to day because I know how important Hendrix Corporation is to our society. Mr. Samuel has always said when it comes to emergencies that will render him incapable of handling the business, I should read out his will." The lawyer was vocal with his explanation.
"At the expense of my father's state of mind? Regardless of what is written on that will, I am not going to allow this happen."
"We don't have a choice Aiden. Your father is facing serious health crisis and soon the board of directors will begin to raise questions about his absence. We need someone seated at the head of the table." One of Aiden's uncle explained.
Aiden said no words as the lawyer opened up his brief case and read out the content of the will to everyone.
"...and to that end, the next CEO will be my beloved son Justin Harper."
My eyes widened in disbelief. Aiden on the other hand got up to his feet.
"How can you make up this nonsense and spill it out in front of everyone?" Aiden asked, folding his hand into a fist.
"Your father is the one that made this will and not me"
As Aiden tries to run over the lawyer, a couple of soldiers were quick to hold him down, sensing his intent in that moment.
"You are a disgrace to this family as a lawyer and I will make sure to break you!" He spat with so much fury in his eyes.
I walk up to his side and held one of his hand and try to calm him down.
"Aiden, control your temper!" The oldest uncle of the family yelled.
"Did you just hear what he said? I cannot sit back and watch him spit out these lies from that trash of a paper" Aiden responded.
"Just because it doesn't favor you, should not give you the right to call it trash" Justin voiced out.
"What did you say?"
I could sense Aiden's intention as his other hand folded into a fist.
He tried to free himself from my grasp, but I held on tight to him.
"I need to teach him a lesson!"
"I am the new CEO of Hendrix Corporation. Father has made the call and if you cannot handle it, then you can leave."
I tried getting his attention, by wrapping my hands around his cheeks so he could look at me.
"You just have to calm down"
His breath came out like steam, but he said no words. Aiden looked away from me and turned to the rest of the family.
"Is everyone going to truly accept the lies from that will?" Aiden asked and from the look on their face, I could tell they were comfortable with the announcement.
"Fine, Screw you all!" He flipped his finger at Justin before shoving my hands away and walking out of the room.
I knew not to follow him inside. It was best if he could just find a way to calm his nerve down.
Justin's mother and the lawyer walk out of the living room as the rest of the family members begins to congratulate Justin.
My instincts knew there was something fishy about the will that had been announced.
I looked around to be sure no one is watching, before heading out of the living room.
One of the soldiers told me Justin's mother and the lawyer had gone to the back of the mansion.
I tip toed to the back and find the both of them in a conversation.
"I owe you a lot. Despite Aiden's out burst, the rest of the family accepted the will and I am happy about it."
My mouth went wide open as I look away from the both of them in shock.
So Aiden was right after all. These people want to get him out of the picture. I need to inform him about it.
Turning around, I froze at the spot as a gun is pointed in my direction.
"Your husband should have told you that eavesdropping is a bad thing." Justin informed me with a scowl on his face.
