Chapter 8 - Set Up

CHAPTER EIGHT

SOFIA POV

I was fed up of Justin's antics. Instead of giving an answer, I rose to my feet and walked out of the table.

How can he make such a false allegations in the presence of everyone?

As I step into the room, Aiden came through seconds later and closed the door behind him.

"Aiden I…"

"You don't have to say anything, I know what he is capable of doing" He said with a reassuring smile.

He walked over to the wardrobe and change into a black Armani tuxedo. "I have an important meeting to attend. When I return we will talk better"

Aiden planted a kiss on my fore head before walking out of the room. Not long after he was gone, a knock came through the door.

I walk over to the door and pull it open to see Justin with a smile on his face.

My attempt to close the door was met with resistance.

"Can I at least have a word with you?" He asked.

"There is absolutely nothing to talk about." I replied and tried moving away, but he held me back.

"Let me go!" I tried forcing his hands away, but his grip was strong.

He forcefully pushed me into the room and closed the door behind.

"There is something crucial that I need to discuss with you." Justin said.

"Then you don't have to be forceful about it." He finally let go of his grip and kept his eyes on me.

"Do you still love my step brother?" He asked

My brows furrowed, eyeing Justin suspiciously.

"Aiden and I are legally married and I don't see what you aim to achieve by lying to everyone that we are divorce" I said.

"It still does not answer my question Sofia. Do you still love Aiden" Justin asked with every word pronounced slowly.

"Justin our marriage is a full proof for you to know whether we are in love or not1" I held the temple of my head, trying to calm my nerves.

"Because I love you"

I turned to his direction, my eyes wide open due to his comment "Love me?"

"Yes Sofia, I love you. From the moment you stepped into this mansion. I still wish I had met you before Aiden did."

Still recovering from the shock of his confession, I could tell he meant everything he said from the tone of his voice and his eyes which held so much emotion.

"I am married to your brother Justin. This is the third time I am letting you know. You cannot have feelings for me knowing this" I said.

"You think I care about Aiden? I know he is just using you to pass away time. There has never been chemistry between the both of you."

His words truck me and although I did not like Aiden, there is no denying everything he said.

Look Sofia, I am capable of helping you and changing your life because I am the CEO of Hendrix and I know you will love power."

Justin drew closer slowly but I moved back. He held my cheeks and our eyes connect. The emotions flooding as he leaned close to steal a kiss.

In that moment, the door opened and Aiden walked inside and stopped with shock written all over his face.

"Why?"

I could hear the pain in his voice.

"Aiden, it is not what you think" I pleaded, trying to walk up to him but he stopped me with his hand.

"I should not have trusted you." He said before moving out of the room. His words forced tears down my eyes.

This shouldn't be happening. Why did I allow my emotion take the best of me.

Justin got up from the bed and I felt like wiping off the smirk on his face with my palm as he walked out of the room.

I need to see Aiden. He needs to know everything he saw was a lie.

Cleaning up my eyes, I rushed out of the room asking the soldiers about Aiden and being directed to the bar.

When I entered the bar, the strong smell of nicotine and whiskey hit my nose. These smells were coming from Aiden's table.

"Aiden" I call out to him and walked over to the table where he was seating down.

"Aiden I am sorry. What you saw wasn't meant to happen, Justin lured me" I explained, trying to hold his hands but he retrieved them.

"Lure you?" He scoffed. "Look Sofia, your presence here irritates me. I don't want to see you this very minute so leave!" Aiden warned and took a puff of his smoke, blowing it on my face

"Aiden don't be like this, I never liked Justin"

"Oh! But you like his hands around you"

His words struck me hard and it forced tears down my eyes.

"Aiden I…" I held her mouth shut as he raised his hand at my face.

He took one more sip from his drink closing his eyes and allowing the substance burn his throat.

"Tell me Sofia. You planned on sleeping with him huh?"

"Aiden" He stopped me from talking again.

"I should have known that all this years, you were nothing but a gold digger! But no, I was so foolish to defend you in front of everyone, in front of my step mother, in front of my father. I should have known you are a whore."

His words triggered the pain in my heart and I moved my hands towards his cheeks, the impact causing a loud echo in the room.

As he looked at me with shock on his face, I held my hand back realizing my mistake.

"I am sorry" I mention but it was too late.

Aiden got up to his feet, grabbing his whiskey and turning around to leave.

"I don't want you around my side again" His cold words sent a shiver of fear down my body.

I watch him leave the room and realized that I might have just lost Aiden due to a silly mistake.

"I told you Aiden wasn't meant for you" I heard someone say which caused me to look up and see Justin standing with his arms by his side looking down at me with the stupid smirk on his face.

"You caused this!" I yelled at him, allowing the tears flow down my cheeks.

"I did not do anything Sofia. I only helped you from Aiden " Justin approached me and sat at the table.

"You deserve a better person and that person is me"

"You are the monster Justin, you are just like your mother, a manipulative person" I asserted, looking at him with murder in my eyes.

"I may agree with you about being manipulative but my feelings are good. Will you leave Aiden and not want to date the CEO of Hendrix Empire?"

"I don't care about your leadership, I don't care about the family business and I certainly do not care about you" I said.

"Don't worry sweetheart, you will soon care a lot about all these things. Just you wait and see" He stood up and left to go inside.

As he moved away from the bar, reality struck me in the face. This was more painful than the wedding with Ivan and now I have to live with the consequence of my actions.

No, I cannot allow this happen again.

My eyes landed on a shiny object on the chair and it turns out to be a small knife.

Maybe I should end everything.

I grab the knife staring at it for a moment before cutting my wrist with it.

It is better to end it all than face the harsh reality of life. My vision became blurry and I left the chair to sit down at the close couch.

Good bye.
