Taro rushed home, gripping the strange phone tightly. His mind was spinning with questions.
If he could switch bodies with someone by calling them… what happened to the original owner while he was in their body?
His mother was in the kitchen, preparing dinner. The sound of vegetables being chopped filled the small apartment. She looked up when he entered.
"You're home early," she said, smiling. "Everything okay?"
Taro hesitated. He had to be careful about how he asked.
"Mom… when I called you earlier, did anything weird happen?"
His mother paused, frowning. "Weird? No, I just remember answering, and then… everything went dark for a second."
Taro's heart skipped a beat. So, they lost consciousness when he took over?
"Why are you asking?" his mother asked, narrowing her eyes.
Taro quickly shook his head. "No reason, just felt like the call cut off strangely."
His mother gave him a suspicious look but didn't push further.
Then another thought hit him. What if someone called him? Would he switch bodies too?
"Mom, can you call my phone?" he asked, trying to sound casual.
She raised an eyebrow. "Why? Did you change something?"
"Just testing," he said quickly.
She sighed but pulled out her phone and dialed his number.
Taro's phone vibrated. He stared at the screen as his mother's name flashed.
He took a deep breath and answered.
Nothing happened.
No darkness. No dizziness. He was still in his body.
His mother was still in the kitchen, looking at him normally.
Taro felt a wave of relief—and confusion. So, the phone only worked when he was the one making the call?
This was getting stranger by the second.
But one thing was clear. He had complete control over who he switched bodies with.
And that meant… he could do anything.
To be continued…
