The day was ending, making way for the bliss of the weekend, clouded by the noise of vehicles honking their way out of the chaos of traffic, people shouting their way to their various homes, stench of dried sweat and debris, soft music in the distant announcing the start of "Thank God it's Friday" and the warmth of the sun finding its final resting place. Lade was navigating the chaos of Oshodi to her home which was about three hours away considering the traffic when she bumped into a random guy, her first instinct as a Lagos girl was to protect her belongings then she glared up at her obstacle and she was glued as her eyes met the prettiest set of brown eyes she had seen in her life, though it was the end of the day, he smelled really good with a mixture of fuel which he carried in a keg but of course, she couldn't give that away. He apologized before she could say anything, "I'm so sorry miss, I wasn't looking, I'm in a bit of a hurry and he scurried away, she regained composure and continued on her way towards the bus park to finally get home and away from the stress of another day in Lagos. She boarded her bus, and the thought of the brown eyed stranger journeyed with her until she got to her apartment, she decided on noodles for dinner and slept off almost immediately
...Random guy rushed down his path towards his vehicle praying in his heart it was still there as it had run out of fuel some thirty minutes ago, the usual Oshodi boys came to pay their homage and stood guard until he came back like they had promised, he refueled, gave them two new one thousand naira notes, thanked them and drove off, when the sounds of their 'thank you's faded, he had the time to think about the pretty girl he had bumped into, brown skin, pretty eyes, tall, thick and curvy, just how he likes his women. Oh, her smell, he got a wisp of vanilla and lavender even in that short encounter, it graced his nostrils with the smell of heavenly bliss.
The thought of his car disappearing didn't give him enough time to savour her beauty and grace despite the obvious frustration on her face, but as he drove he just couldn't help the tug in his chest, he smiled and hoped to see her again. The honk of a nearby car and the yell of "mad man, drive this car na" jolted him out of his daydream as he drove home. His phone rang when he was almost home, it was his friend Tunde asking if he's still coming for the boys night, he thought about it for a while, he agreed to be there, he made the next turn and drove into the darkness of the evening.
