Lade got to her bestie's place and the screams and
joys of pleasantries like teenage girls filled the air, the jumps and hugs
followed after, then they settled, catching their breath, Rhea found her voice
first. Girl!!!, you didn't tell me you were coming, she said smiling and out of
breath, would you have the same reaction if you knew I was coming? Lade asked
smiling. You know I'm always excited to see you girl, don't play. Rhea
responded, rolling her eyes. I know baby, I missed you so much I just wanted to
see you, Lade said hugging her again. Rhea saw her shopping bags, "what did you
buy for me? Rhea asked ransacking the bags while Lade tried to protect her
property "coconut chips ooo, its only coconut chips ooo"
Lade and Rhea have been friends for eight years now,
they met during their first year of university and have been inseparable ever
since. The next few hours was spent catching up on their two week old gossip
and of course Lade didn't forget to mention her new found gossip topic, Marcus,
with Rhea being her usual dramatic self with the new development.
…Marcus got back home, hangover gone and hunger
quenched by the thoughts of Lade, he didn't believe anyone could ever make him
believe in love and companionship again, hmmmm Omolade, a beautiful name for a
beautiful lady. He dropped his groceries and laid on his bed and fed on her
beauty. She looked different from yesterday, she had a simple jean and T-shirt
on, that did an amazing job on her curves, beautiful chubby cheeks, tall too,
hmm tall, thick girls just does something to him, beautiful smile, perfect
teeth, angelic voice and a perfect diction. Complete package! He patted himself
on the back and said, "you hit the jackpot dude". He looked at his phone,
fighting the urge to call, he didn't want to look desperate, it was happening
all too fast, so he stood up and went about his day humming a tune.
...Back home, Lade couldn't help but think about this
new hunk of a development as well, it made her wonder if there were guys who
were actually interested in simplicity and authenticity, she had always thought
she couldn't bag someone like him, because well, she was nothing like the
social media beauty standard. His thoughts filled her like a bowl of her
favorite cereal and she ran to her phone every time it made a sound, she
laughed at her childishness.
Later that night, he was tired of fighting himself, so
he picked up his phone and dialed her number, fingers crossed that she'll pick
up...
...She did and they spoke well into the night just
catching up on their days and the stress of Lagos, their voices echoing in the
silence of the night.
