The Bahamas air hit me like warm silk as I exited the taxi. The Paradise Island Royal Towers rose before me, "Martinez family vacation." Daniel whistled softly beside me.
"Your family doesn't do anything halfway, do they?" he murmured, helping me with my bags.
"Wait until you see the suite," I replied, ignoring how his hand brushed mine. "Mily probably booked the best one in the resort."
The lobby was a cathedral of marble and crystal, but I barely noticed it. I was drawn to the couple standing near the check-in desk – Mily and Calvin. My sister wore a flowing white sundress that made her look like a resort advertisement. Calvin stood slightly apart from her, his attention fixed on his phone until he heard our footsteps.
When he looked up and saw Daniel's hand near mine, something flashed in his eyes. but before I could analyze it, Mily came forward.
