As the morning sun hit my eyes, I groaned and rolled over. My ankle hurt like crazy under the bandage reminding me of yesterday's stupid accident. I grabbed my phone and saw that Daniel had called three times. Letty had texted: "Breakfast in 20. Important news."
I forced myself out of my bed, testing my sore ankle. It hurt, but I could walk on it. I had handled worse pain before.
After showering and putting on a pair of jeans and a sweater, I limped to the resort's patio for breakfast. The lake looked perfect in the distance, all sparkly and peaceful opposite to how I felt inside. My mind was racing with work stress.
Our group was already at the table. Calvin sat there looking uncomfortable, staring at his phone while Mily picked at some fruit beside him. They weren't talking or touching each other not looking like the happy couple they were supposed to be. Daniel and Letty had their heads together, whispering about something.
