Chapter 2: A Chance Encounter
Ji-Hyun's heels clicked on the polished floor of the upscale restaurant, her eyes scanning the crowded room for Ah-Rim. They had agreed to meet for lunch, and Ji-Hyun was already running late.
As she waited for the hostess to seat her, Ji-Hyun's gaze drifted around the restaurant, taking in the elegant decor and refined atmosphere. She spotted Ah-Rim waving at her from a table near the window.
Just as Ji-Hyun began to make her way over, a deep, smooth voice spoke from behind her.
"Excuse me, I believe you're waiting for someone?"
Ji-Hyun turned to face the speaker, her eyes meeting the piercing gaze of Min-Soo. He stood tall, his tailored suit accentuating his broad shoulders and chiseled features.
"Yes, I'm meeting a friend," Ji-Hyun replied, her tone polite but guarded.
Min-Soo's eyes narrowed slightly as he took in Ji-Hyun's appearance. His gaze lingered on her dress, her shoes, and her hair, his expression growing increasingly disdainful.
"I see," he said finally, his voice dripping with condescension. "Well, I suppose you're not exactly the usual clientele we get here."
Ji-Hyun's eyes flashed with annoyance at Min-Soo's arrogant tone. "And what, exactly, is that supposed to mean?" she asked, her voice icy.
Min-Soo smirked, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, just that you seem a bit...out of place here. This isn't exactly a restaurant for people of your...background."
Ji-Hyun's anger simmered just below the surface as she met Min-Soo's condescending gaze. Who did this man think he was, judging her based on her appearance?
"I'm meeting a friend," Ji-Hyun repeated, her tone firm. "And I assure you, I can take care of myself."
Min-Soo raised an eyebrow, his expression skeptical. "I'm sure you can," he said finally, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Enjoy your lunch."
With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Ji-Hyun seething with anger and frustration.
