Chapter 1 - Amara

"Alpha, something strange has entered our territory. It seems like a human being," one of the pack members said, a look of disgust could be seen clearly in his gaze.

"Why are you acting as if you have never seen a human being before? You look like one too," Another said, not liking the prejudice a fellow member was holding.

"But they are scary," another one said, scrolling through the social media.

"As if that human is going to eat you alive. Let me see who it is," Nicolas, the alpha of the pack said, rolling his eyes.

He was used to their dramatic reactions by now. Sometimes he wonders where this generation was going and the future worries him a lot.

He shakes his head, getting rid of such thoughts for now and transforms into his wolf form.

The distance wasn't much.

A small body was surrounded by bushes and suddenly a heavenly smell hits his nose.

Then and there he knew who it was. It was going to be his future Luna aka his mate.

His heart started beating faster than ever. Blood was rushing in his body and he couldn't wait to see her face. He couldn't remember the last time he felt this excited.

He goes closer and finally takes a look at her face. It was nothing like what he had imagined.

He always wanted a strong woman to be his mate but before his eyes was a trembling small human with tears falling down her cheeks.

She was beautiful, way too beautiful. She was so fragile looking that he couldn't decide whether he wants to protect her from the entire world or from himself.

Her eyes were filled with innocence, something he hasn't seen for a long time, other than seeing it in little children's eyes.

He was about to touch her face with his hands when he realized that he was still in his wolf form.

He mentally cursed himself for scaring her like this.

In his head, he could feel that she was terrified of him. He knew that he wasn't the prince charming type of guy. Neither did he look like a prince with his sharp eyes, thin lips, and stone-like face.

And the most unforgettable feature is the long scar that runs through his left eyebrows to his left mid-cheek.

And due to this reason, he didn't want to transform back to his human form. He wasn't sure whether she knew about werewolves or not.

He went even closer and he could feel her heavy breath from the distance. Her eyes were looking at him in a pleading manner.

He didn't know what she was asking for but one thing he was sure of is that she was more beautiful when looked closely.

He slowly lowered his head and forwarded his forehead to her.

As if understanding his needs, she starts caressing his fur-filled forehead.

Her touch was full of hesitation initially but when she noticed that he was as calm as the sea, she decided to hold him a little more firmly.

He could now feel her fingers imprinting on his skin. He confirmed one thing, he likes her touch.

"Are you a wolf or a.... werewolf?" She suddenly asked, her voice was just as soft as he had imagined.

It was like the first ray of sunshine after a cold winter morning. He could hear her talk the whole day.

But then reality hits him and he realized what she had asked.

Nicolas looked at her with widened eyes, not sure how she guessed it.

He took a few steps back, moving away from her and her touch.

He was already missing her warmth.

Her hands weren't the softest, it was rather rough. He could guess that it was due to the same reason as why her entire appearance was dirty.

Anyone who sees her now would be able to guess that she didn't come from the brightest side of the world.

Her hair was tangled. Her eyes have dark circles under them and were a little red, probably due to lack of sleep or from crying too much.

Nicolas couldn't point his finger at the reason but whatever it was, he didn't like her suffering.

He didn't even know her name and yet, he was already feeling so protective over her already.

"That's the mate connection I am feeling, I think," he came to the conclusion.

Despite believing in moon goddess, he never believed in the authenticity of the mate bonding.

It didn't make any sense to him. How could one instantly fall for someone without knowing anything about them? Wasn't love something that takes time? He doubted the bond yet here he was, whipped at the first glance.

Love finally knocked at his door and all the hesitation left from the window.

He closed his eyes and his golden wolf eyes changed into dark ones. The fur was now human skin and he stood there bare.

Amara's eyes widened. A gasp left from her lips. The guy before her didn't seem to have any shame.

"I am the alpha of 'Bluemoon pack'. Your presence seemed like a danger to our people but turns out you are harmless. I apologize if I scared you anyhow," Nicolas said in a gentle tone.

But due to his deep voice, it didn't sound gentle at all. He wasn't the perfect guy someone falls in love with because of how perfect he is, he was more like the intimating villain who is feared by all.

Amara looked directly into his eyes. He felt as if she could read his soul like an open diary.

Despite the nudity of his body, the eye contact seemed more intimate.

"Is there something you would like to ask me, my name or anything?" Nicolas asked, not the least ashamed that he was standing naked in front of an unknown woman.

Amara wanted to ask why he used our rather than my while mentioning his people.

But later dismissed the thought thinking that he might have meant his entire pack.

She shook her head, indicating that it was nothing.

Nicolas was a little amused by his mate's actions. She wasn't tall. She couldn't even reach the average height.

He calculated mentally and guessed that she might be around five feet. She was a little chubby and that made her look only cuter.

"Aren't you afraid that a wolf is standing before you?" Nicolas asked since he thought that she would be afraid of him after knowing his reality.

It's not every day that you touch a wolf only to find out that it's not an normal wolf.

"How can I be afraid of your mere existence when I have faced worse?"

Her reply to his question with another question only raised the interest in his heart to know more about her.

"What's your name, warrior?" He smiled a little after calling her by a nickname.

He didn't know her past but he could already tell that it wasn't the smoothest run.

Whatever it was, she was going to have a safe home and security from now and it was a silent promise he made to himself.

She was now his and he would rather burn down the entire world than let any harm touch her.

"Amara."
